There is Best Friends Animal Society, Bad Rap Pit Bull Rescue, the Animal Farm Foundation, Our Pack, All or Nothing Pit Bull Rescue, The Georgia SPCA all had a part in rescuing the Vick dogs and know these dogs. There are more responsible pit bull owners than bad, just like any other dog. The reality is you don't learn about dogs on you tube. You think for yourself, do research, have common sense and compassion for a dog. Don't believe these hateful videos or biased media. Think for yourself

i've had too many dogs run up on us while mine were on leash. they didn't make it home to their owners. :( i wish more owners would keep their dogs leashed. it's not fair to pitbull owners when others can't properly contain their animals. their is only a small window of opportunity to get our dogs off before animal control comes. when ac comes they will put our dogs down because of others mistakes. every dog must be leashed. even the weak ones.

I own a former bait/fight pit that I personally rehabilitated and now use to work aggression cases (I train dogs with a specialization in aggression rehabilitation). Gotta hand it to the pit owner....given his side of the story...he did what any good pit owner would do in the situation. Dex (my pit) has been attacked by other dogs while out walking, and he will defend himself. Note to all owners regardless of breed...KEEP YOUR DOG ON LEASH or reap the consequences.

I live in a nice area of town and walk with a bat-people are idiots when it comes to their dogs. My dog is always on a leash and forever being attacked by unleashed dogs. So far, I've been able to keep the attacking dog at bay with the bat but I always want to smack the owners when they finally catch up.

@see4ward I think you're inviting problems by carrying the bat. A dog will see the bat and feel threatned and more likely to attack. The most important thing is for people to just be calm and dont freak out when two dogs smell each other. Its people who almost always cause the problems. I do understand the need for a weapon though but perhaps something concealed like pepper spray is a better idea. its hard though since California laws are so strict and we cant defend ourselves.

A large bottle of water (SmartWater, actually) is what saved me and my dog when I decided to carry something a bit stronger, since I was still bitten. Luckily, the group of kids the dog was attacking before us followed him to his "home" with his "master" trying to hide him out. Otherwise, it would have been rabie shots for me. Eeek. I'll try to send you the little vid I did on TJ..he's a sweetie and he does tolerate dogs who don't charge him, it's rare that he actually likes one, but, he is tolerant. When we first got him, he was so out of his mind and malnourished, I was afraid we would have to put him down. It is sad that dogs (animals in general) suffer from humans idiocy.
