  • i am 20 and even though it is typical for me to listen to all that rock music i absolutly LOVE Blondie, must admit my parents were shocked when they walked in on me singing heart of glass and sunday girl :)

  • I still like the song. ;)

  • I am french and I don't understand what she says except "dépêche-toi" (hurry up).

  • @Urdojo I'm English and I understand more than that...

  • sounds lovely in french

  • She still has the voice today

  • Je t'aime Blondie beaucoup! :) xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo

  • "dépêche-toi " cool french lyrics with sweet heavy accent

  • why does she not just say dimanche fille?

  • @Reka1711

In french that's like : "Fille du dimanche" and not "Dimanche fille" xD

  • @Reka1711 In French everything is slightly mixed up.. Like, you wouldn't say the black cat, you'd say the cat black. Le chat noir :3

  • my dream girl of my youth.....happy days :-)

  • Thank you for putting this up:)

  • I love her singing in French, I wish she sang other songs in French. Debbie is a knockout.

  • Je préfère en anglais.

  • so hot when shes singing french!

  • I'm sorry, but even if she doesn't speak and pronounce french that well, she still speaks waaay better than French people can speak English in general....

  • @deliquescious

    That's right !

I'm french, and I can say,she has a good french,no matter I cant understant what she is saying xD

  • Q: how do you make Debbie Harry even sexier?

A: have her sing in French...

  • Too bad the gene pool for real women went empty soon after Debbie.

She sings in fluent French and it sounds great.

Singers today can barely sing or speak in their native language. Especially Americans.

    Thanks Debbie!

  • The reason bands have to sing in French is because the French only allow 6% of radio music to have non-french lyrics, and French music is 'merde', so recording a song in French guarantees a fairly big band a hit. The reason they sing badly is that NO-ONE OUTSIDE OF FRANCE GIVES A FUCK ABOUT THE FRENCH LANGUAGE, including Belgians, French-Canadians, etc. So shut up, froggies.

  • French Canadian is different than France French, two different languages from two different countries. similar but different. :)

  • I like this version

  • its easy to understand if your first language is english and u learned french after

  • Debby is the sexiest woman ever !

    Love from France MADAME....

  • @MrDavidParis

    is she from frans ??

  • @ghadadihan

Hi you, no she was not french but american from Miami

  • @MrDavidParis Maamoiselle.

  • I can understand most of what she sings. Even though it's not a perfect French, it's nice she tried to sing in French. She's so lovely and has such a nice voice. (I'm French !)

  • This is aimed at english-speakers who don't understand french, but it gives Debbie so much more ...Je ne sais pas....sex appeal.

  • it canadian freach

  • @asiafire64 How dare the Canadians steal French! lol. There those Canadians go again!

  • @asiafire64 No it's not! It's in French. Period. Btw, French Canadians speak French as well. They just have a different accent & different expressions. She uses none of these expressions & her accent is English.

Also, French is my first language, I understand a lot of what she's saying, although not everything, but I don't care. I find it very charming.

  • So when the English speak French, they speak with a distinct English accent so people know theyre English even though they're speaking French?! wow I've never thought of that before

  • I feel the way Gomez Addams got when Morticia spoke French!

  • Je ne comprends rien

  • Ok so I English is my 1st tongue, but I do speak French, as well. If it weren't for the English version I'd have no idea what the French version is saying either. Yet, I still like the song. I guess that is why they say music is universal.

  • c'est de français ça ? haha.

  • You cannot even understand when she speaks in English, but who cares, she is awesome.

  • I feel that some of us might be missing the point. She's not giving a speech at the U.N. It's irrelevant whether you can understand the words. The point is that when a normally english speaking person sings in french, it's all about the sexy quality that the french language has. I listen to this version, not the english version, even though I don't speak french, because it sounds better; sexier! compondre

  • I am French and i don't understand French songs too, ah ah !

  • Bordel mais keskeldit ?

  • eventhough its French , it almost sounds as if its Portoguese ! LOL

  • Carrie S merci toi au moins tu as l'oreille...

  • I'm almost certain the Debbie doesn't speak french alors....:) mais une jolie chanson :)

  • Well I'm french and then I understand...
  • Why can't the french adapt and try and understand?! Gods knows the rest of us find it hard to understand what the french do be saying when they are speaking english, but at least we try and meet them half way. It's all or nothing with the french

  • @glapots Rho, please, it's not the fault of the French if she's got a strong accent ! To me, I understand what she said but sometimes it's hard...

  • @glapots I think every country needs to be vigilant and proud of their language or else English will destroy all other languages in the future and as a native English speaker I don't want to see that.

  • @doetim english will not destroy other languages

  • I thought my French was getting rusty because I could only understand a few words of this song! And those that I could didn't make sense, eg "seche, il pleut" (dry, it's raining").

  • @beauraing

Thank you for posting the first verse; no one else has done so.

Do you have the second and third verses to post also, or can you refer us to a website with the French lyrics?

  • nice version!! :) love it

I LOVE USA ! J'aimerai y vivre.

  • @CartoonLyricsMusic you are true! but is it for money that some French singers sing in English and English singers sing in French or maybe cause they love foreign language but that 's not meaning that the result is good :)

    sometime not all-time !

  • @CartoonLyricsMusic by the way, this song is well known in FRANCE by the advertising of L'Elixir de Nina Ricci, please look for " pub Nina L'Elixir de Nina Ricci 2010 " in youtube! :)

  • @MostFunnyUserName Ok merci :D

  • @CartoonLyricsMusic Hum, I am not against the U.S.A, and Blondie was (is) fantastic, but... she has a very strong accent, and the French speaker do not understand, we are sorry. Of course, if you are American you can understand because you have the same accent. Anyway, it is an awesome song.

  • @Niles1994 I'm not American.

  • @CartoonLyricsMusic Oh, sorry, but your mother tongu is the English...?

  • not easy to understand, why sing in FRENCH?

  • @MostFunnyUserName Because, it is a beautiful language. Why she couldn't sing in French?

  • I am sorry but her accent is IMPOSSIBLE, sometimes we don't understand. (we= the French speaker).

  • @Niles1994 je vois que tu est d'accord avec moi! :)

"sometimes we don't understand" sometimes? no!,since the first word to the last word

  • @MostFunnyUserName Exactly !

  • @MostFunnyUserName No, you're exaggerating, but hey, I don't know if I understand because I know the original lyrics. Love Blondie & French!

  • Not a 12" really. The original 7" A-side English version, B-side French version. Merci for the upload!

  • Great song but so hard to understand... and I'm French.

The English version is much better.

  • can understand most of it. its good because she speaks quite slow which makes it a lot easier :)

  • I couldn't possibly tell if this is accurate french but it sounds hot. :-) And my favorite girl is singing it.

  • I don't know the French word for "hot" so here is the Spanish: "CALIENTE!"

  • @tjsbigidea "Hot" in French it is "chaud". ^^

  • Ok, I am French and this is a wonderful song but... sometimes I don't understand the lyrics. Sorry.XD

  • Didn't know Blondie could speak French!

  • @yourdickis2limp your mom sucks alot of cock

  • @BlondieXho your mother is a cross dressing weasel squeezing Hermaferdite.

  • I don't understand french, but I like this language. Expecially when sung by Debbie;)

  • she isnt a rockstar she is punk

  • Even if Debbie's pronunciation isn't perfect, I'm French and I'm really in love with this version.

Debbie is the greatest rockstar ever !

  • fille dimanche

  • I like the "depeche toi" better than "hurry up". I wish they would've put it on the franglais version. Debbie has admitted her Spanish is better than her French pronunciation. Check out Calmarie- Deborah Harry solo in Portugese, Call Me-Spanish version, and I think there's another song in Spanish. Plus a verse of French in Denis.

  • this is one time i can have a woman like this smack me around and bite me as long as its in french:P

  • lovely

  • I also love the franglais version that uses both french and english.

  • it's Je t'aime but Je Me t'aime is very cute x)

  • The photo at :42... oooo la la, mon cherie!

    Sacrebleu!

  • I'm french and I don't understand a word of this song. But english accent is cute ^^

  • @IchiKaren American

  • @IchiKaren I'm England born + bred and can't understand a word of the original version but it does sound cute and she is!

  • @IchiKaren But you contradict yourself. But who cares anyway.

  • @IchiKaren lol i'm NOT french though i studied french and even i can understand parts of it. methinks you either have a chip on your shoulder or you don't speak french ;)

Charmant.

I AM FRENCH. And because of her accent, I can't understand this song. That's all o_o.

When I make an effort, I understand some words, but I do not understand the whole song. It's ok now ? You're happy ?

  • @IchiKaren "It's ok now ?" -- Je ne sais pas, est-il autorisé? si vous vous souvenez, j'ai donné 2 possibilités, une seule a donné suite à votre nationalité. doit être l'autre, je suppose lol i suggest knocking that heavy chip off the shoulder ;)

  • @SvenTveskegg Naturally they have a chip on their shoulder, they're French! It's what they do best.

  • @IchiKaren I'm (english) Canadian, and I can understand everything.

  • @munchluxe63 I think it's because you've got the same "English ears" than her. But it's tru that for some French speaker, she has a strong accent... But it's not sooo bad.

  • @Niles1994 Makes sense. Actually, just listened to Trust in English, and I couldn't understand a thing!

  • She sings "Depeche toi" for "hurry up"

  • @cathoderaytube2

Whats wrong with that? To hurry up is a reflexive verb in French . So you have to say depeche-toi or depechez -vous.

  • Super Debbie.

  • je me t'aime

  • Pour Marie Astrid...avec XXX

  • Beautiful music, beautiful woman. Blondie!

  • About french, do you know that people living in Mt, both SD & ND, Nb, Ks, Ok, La (of course, there are still some people speaking incl. Fats Domino!), Ms, Al, Ar, Mo, Ia, Mn, Wi, In, Il, Oh, Ky, 1/4 (West) Pa, 2/3 Tn -West-, NY -NorthWest-, NH & Vt -North-, almost 1/2 Texas -North- (including Dallas & Fort Worth), 1/3 NE & NM, 2/3 (East) Co, & 3/4 Wy & Me should speak FRENCH ?

Because Jefferson NEVER PAYED the french Louisiana to Napoleon or a following french government! lol

    Thanks Debbie !

  • wow, some nasty comments kids!

i've attempted to learn some spanish, german, french, dutch, norwegian & japanese phrases to make my travels easier. i am amazed how often this helped & enhanced my travels abroad. simply showing the effort on my part brought the most kind & helpful responses in each country rather than just speaking in english louder, as if they were hard of hearing as i generally witness other americans when abroad.

%wise more continentals speak english than americans vs vrsa

  • @scottromano402 It has been that way for a long time. When the first George Bush was president (1989-1993) he could already refer to English as "the lingua franca, the international language of business" in a televised speech.

  • @scottromano402 I think you're totally right. I myself live in Holland and I'm obligated to learn French, German and English and, especially with exchange students, these languages have helped me a lot.

Nederlands is een moeilijke taal dus vet goed, man!

  • oh sexy <3

  • Oh God! Ithink I have died and gone to heaven, Debbie Harry, Sunday Girl, and IN FRENCH!!!!!!!!!

  • I think young '70s Deb had some resemblance to the young French bombshell Brigitte Bardot of the early '60s. Blondie en francais? Hey, why not?

  • God, it's annoying when foreigners accuse American's of a bad accent in any language, yet we don't make fun of the thousands and thousands that sing in English with THEIR accent. Fucking trolls.

  • @Jirkenz131 - But i ALWAYS hear Americans make fun of non-native English speakers who have an accent yet 95%+ of Americans do not speak any other language. As an American, I can kindly say please don't be a typical American asshole. Ok? Peace.

  • @2landscapes No, you're the one being an arrogant selfish prick. Every day our in our country, I guarantee you'll meet someone who's Mexican and cannot communicate properly and adequate enough to convey any sort of speak that is comprehensible. Leave percentage out of this. I have not met any American in my entire life that has laughed in ones face at the reality that most immigrants here can be barely be understood in English. So yes, I have every Goddamn right to be an asshole.

  • @Jirkenz131 People don't have to laugh in one's face to be an asshole. Doing so behind someone's back is enough. I have been living in different countries overseas for a while now and I often come across Americans (and others from English speaking countries) who have lived elsewhere for 5-10+ years and still barely speak the language there. They feel everyone else should speak English. Yet the natives there are not assholes to the English speaking expatriates.

  • @2landscapes wow.. not all americans laugh at ppl because of an accent thats retarded maybe if youre 15.

  • @2landscapes So noted. You are right about that. Most Americans have not bothered to learn a second language and I'm not sure why it's not a priority. I'll try not to be a typical American asshole. A lot of us are not assholes, but just super focused on our own little world. Maybe it will change eventually. I hope so. M Apache Junction AZ

  • @Jirkenz131 Yes, there is a lot of people who sing in English with an other accent but I think you can generally understand them. There, it's really impossible to understand (I'm French).

  • @romain1993

There is a problem with you French chaps. Unless a foreigner speaks French perfectly like a native French, you pretend not to understand. I understand words like' Depeche toi' and 'Je te promet' on first listening.

If you maintain that you do not understand a word, I advise you to see an ENT doctor. If your hearing is OK, then you are simply a thicko.

  • @zrshwe I can understand some strangers which speak French but there it's incomprehensible. Yes we can distinguish some words but that's all. And I'm not the single French type who says that....

And sorry your sentence is not really correct.

  • @romain1993

Maybe you speak French OK, but I can imagine you using Putain in every sentence. But your English is worse than my French. Its not ' some strangers which speak French' but should be 'some foreigners who speak French'. Do not use which for people and the French word étranger is translated as foreigner not stranger. And its not 'I'm not the single French type' 'I am not an only French'. The French word 'type' is not used in English as a person. Les Québecois parlent mieux le Français.

  • @romain1993

I hope you do not introduce yourself saying'I am a French type'. Hahaha, that is the most hilarious mistake made by a French I've ever heard..

  • @zrshwe Do you mean that type is pejorative in English? If it the case, I didn't know because the French word type isn't (type is a French word).

If you want to say that I'm not in standard, look at my thumbs up...

  • @romain1993

No it is not perjurative. 'Type' in English is pronounced not like French type, and I am sure you know that. English type is never used as a person like in French. English type has a meaning very similar to the French word 'genre'. You can say that type of person but you cannot say ' That is a good type' , you have to say 'That is a good man'. You cannot use type as a substitute for a person.

Sorry, if I sound rude in previous comments. I regard these comments as a game for fun.

  • @zrshwe Thanks for the information.

    No problem :)

  • @Jirkenz131 Is it our fault if English is the most popular language on this earth ?

  • love this ! x

  • very cool version...never heard it before but C'est magnifique!!

  • God, I love her, but her french sucks.

  • cheri!

  • french women are the best so hot!!!

  • @josealachan yes.

all women are bitches so you might as well get stuck with a hot one

  • @nerdflanders8710 Words to live by. :-)

  • @themainproblem WHAT WORDS?

  • @josealachan all whores!!

  • I thought the only french word recognised world wide was "surrender"!

  • @surg01

if it means living in a society where wine and women are so important, then we're ready to accept foreign idiots thinking that.

btw thats a major insult to all the victims from both wars...whatever their nationalities. so yeah...very funny you putin de tarlouse mangeuse de merde
