  • I am reading Bret's autobiography, and according to him the first match he filmed for WWF was a squash tag match teaming with the Dynamite Kid (probably the same day this promo was shot). Bret was recuperating from a knee injury and didn't do well. Has anyone seen that match online? I would love to see the beginning of the Bret Hat era.

  • Bret "The Footnote" Hart

  • bret, a true legend!..and who knows how far dynamite could have went if he didnt injure his back...but its safe to say he woulda had to do it strictly on wrestling ability, cause he couldnt cut a promo to save his life!

  • how adorable :3

  • @Vinbroccoli Watch this and then watch Bret's heel turn promos from 97 then try and say that " Bret's mic skills never changed" with a straight face!

  • Bret never improved an inch. His speaking and facial expressions are still as dry and boring as it gets, to this day. Still one of the greatest wrestlers ever though.

  • Why no love for dynamite fuck Bret dynamite career was cut short imagine if magnum ti career wasn't cut short their would be no hogan so maybe if kids career wasn't cut short their would be no Bret hart

  • @MittinsMctwist Dynamite Kid and Bret Hart are one of the best technical wrestlers there legends. But Dynamite had his struggles with drugs if he wouldn't of did the drugs that he did his wrestling career could've lasted longer.

  • Bret, we sure are proud of you. I love Bret's interviews and promo's because he always seemed so real. Like he wasn't putting on an over the top act or just spewing nonsense. That's one of the reasons he connected with fans all over the world.

  • Bret has come a long way, that's for sure. I'm currently reading his book. Great so far.

  • Brett looks like he stole Tito Santana's look/hair.

  • Bret pre-roids

  • Billy Red Lyons said that the WWF was the largest governing body for wrestling in the world. Is'nt that what the NWA always used to say about itself? LOL

  • Awesome hair, Bret!!

  • @wwedude1987 Bret hart was 27 in this interview

  • does anyone know what year this is?

  • @6IXMILLION Fall of 1984

  • @jordomac24 ok that why i dont remember this.i wasnt watching wwf then

  • @6IXMILLION Maple Leaf Wrestling 9/8/84

  • i was thrilled to see the both of them being interviewed on this show. at that time, i didn't see it coming, so i was very surprised!

  • Bret Hart is my Favourite Wrestler In WWF....

  • He doesn't even raise his voice here! It's nice to see that because all u get is screaming wrestlers!

  • Bret Hart the dry look.lol

  • Who would have known that Bret Hart wanted so bad to be at the top when watching this? He said the same things every other guy says, but most can't make it for one reason or another.

  • Cool Stuff!

Was he full of shit when he said they (the WWF) were the "largest governing body in the world today"?

And was Billy Red Lyons a pervert? Or was that just Terry Garvin, Pat Patterson and Mel Philips?

And why the hell was Bret doing an interview with Dynamite? Funny how they both mention Greg Valentine and just the guys they name in general...

"Watch me! I'll do my best!" Bret sounds like a first grader...glad he improved. As to whether Dynamite improved- debatable.

  • @shootbinary Probably not. I would suspect by that point the WWF had surpassed the NWA in terms of area covered.

I don't believe Billy Red Lyons was involved in anything sexual like that. He wasn't a road agent or anything, he just did TV out of southern Ontario.

Bret & Dynamite were a tag team when both first arrived in the WWF. They teamed together the following week on Maple Leaf Wrestling. Likely paired together to draw Western Canada viewers who knew them well.

  • @shootbinary LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • @shootbinary It was NOT Billy Red Lyons. He just stayed in Canada.. and was not part of that travelling circus.

  • Bret Hart kick started the Austin era cause they were so alike

  • wow a young bret hart

  • The sound is only coming out of the left channel.

  • ivan puskie

  • Dynamite kid.

  • I like how both Bret and Dynamite ignore the guys who held the belts at the time in favour of putting over their friends like Valentine, Dick Murdoch and Piper.

  • Ivan Putski

  • Dynamite Kid is now living his days out in a wheelchair......

  • bret reminds me of bill bixby in his younger days

  • Bret Hart was so green doing promos here, he eventually improved alot but was never really great at them.

  • @Lfdjake91 Bret I thought was a underrated promo guy. His promo's felt real and he made the match feel special like a fight. He's better than John Morrison (who I like but he sucks as a face) that's for sure.

  • @RSXemperor As I said Bret really improved on his promos over time. His heel promos during the Attitude Era were really good & he got great heat with them.

  • @Lfdjake91 I disliked Bret as a heel in WCW until I realized how good he was at being disrespectful and pushing buttons. His sarcastic promos were great, especially when he said El Dandy deserved a U.S. title shot. He would tease a face turn sometimes, and the fans embraced him. It's a shame Goldberg screwed up because Bret was champion at the time and could have had an awesome heel reign.

  • mapleleaf wrestling???with the wwf symbol

  • @brosketty01 Yes, "Maple Leaf Wrestling" was Canada's version of "WWF(E) Superstars of Wrestling" from 1984-1986. It aired only in Canada.

  • little did we know that he would become the greatest wrestler ever. And you can take that to the bank.

  • You're right, Dynamite had no equal ! What a wrestler !

  • Wow how green is Bret on the mic there =)

  • Who was that dude at 2:47, I can't remember his name?

  • That's the Iron Sheik.

  • That's Ivan Putski......

  • Ivan Putski

  • It's the Dynamite Kid. A truly awesome wrestler in his day. Best little big man ever. You tube him

  • @Jmurray5150 putski wasnt it?

  • @Jmurray5150 Pretty sure you were meaning "Polish Power" Ivan Putski

  • Sounds boring as fuck

  • YOU ARE THE BEST.

  • you don't have to worry anymore because bret hart has sign a four-month contract with wwe and he is going to guest host raw on jan 4 2010 !!!!!!!

  • even here Bret talk about RESPECT ...got to love him! :o) ...Bret we miss you, wrestling without you is not the same! :o(

  • @LordIgor81

he's coming back and reforming legion of doom.

  • best there was

best there is best there will be

  • You're right, Dynamite was that ! Even Bret will tell you so.

  • Luv Bret... but you're so right

  • Look how young Brett is.

  • What I love about Bret is that he was able to make the transition from successful amateur wrestler to popular pro wrestler on the small independent circuit and then became an iconic, incredible superstar in the big time of the WWF.

  • @bpatrice49 LOL, well, if your dad owns the company you will make it big in the indies, and if your father makes Vince promise to use you and put you over before he sells Vince Stampede Wrestling, then yeah, you will hit it big in WWF.

No offense, Bret was real good, but he was just as lucky to be the son of Stu Hart.

  • Bret was a fantastic wrestler but I think that, if it wasn't for the steroid scandal in the WWF in the early '90's, he wouldn't have been as successful.

He was just at the right place at the right time. What deserves credit for is for rethinking McMahon's philosophy for "small" World Champions. Bret paved the way for "smaller" world Champions rather than the giant monsters Vince preferred (and still does).

  • Funny thing was Bret was a roid guy as well.

  • Bret did use steriods but he was not on it too long and did not depend on it like Dynamite did.

Bret did the steroids during his HF days but when he went solo he started laying off them

if look at pictures of Bret during the his HF days he had a chubby face which is due to the steroids but as time went one and started laying off them he face became more chisled

  • Bret was doing them from the HF days all the way to the end of his career.

  • @Rcksaltnnails Uh no, I just read Bret's book.. which is amazing btw. I'm a huge Bret fan. In his book, he says how Vince screwed Stu out of so much money from the Stampede... And Stu never told Vice to make Bret a star...

  • @kharv29rcr Yeah, he did Stu so wrong that Stu ignored it, his family ignored it and they all did work for WWF for years, right up to when Stu died. I KNOW everyone who gets screwed out of big money keeps working for the guy. NOT!!!

Come on dude, gotta be smarter than that.

  • @kharv29rcr Just cause he wrote it in his book doesn't mean it's true.

  • Dude. ...The guy earned it the hard way. Bret got no favours for being the son of Stu.

  • He got hired by Vince because he was the son of Stu, what arer you talking about ?

  • HEROS. FUCK ANY HATERS <3

  • Wow, they were so bad on the stick then. You can see the infamous fear in Bret's eyes that gave way to the glasses gimmick.

  • It's sad to see Dynamite Kid in a wheelchair these days...

  • dynamite kid lied! this wasnt his first time with the wwf, he wrestled tiger mask on a wwf/njpw card in msg a few years before this.

  • i believe he was refering to being under contract w/ them.

  • he probably forgot, u cant blame him with all the meds hes taken

  • Bret Hart is in a class of his own in terms of wrestling skills. He was quick, agile, and would never back down from a fight.

    Truly one of wrestling's greats.

  • RIP Billy Red Lyons

  • 80's HAIR!!!!!!!!!

  • I know.

  • Bret Hart looks like my husband. If my husband lost a few pounds(a little belly fat)and let his hair grow out,he would definetaly look like Bret.

  • no he was already on the steroids, you can tell. They both were, but no doubt during the WWF the steroid use increased dramatically. I think Brett also started training alot harder. Brett never went jogging in the stampede days.

  • @bpatrice49 yup they have used steroids but people hype steroids as if it certainly kills you. Fact is cigarettes kills more people than cigarettes in a year and steroids is just excuse for some unexplainable deseases.

  • fuck he is so young there. must have started taking steroids after this.

  • Steel City represent! Billy Red Lyons and Jack Tunney for WWE Hall of Fame.
