  • Kpcart, you are a virtuose in both instruments: spanish guitar and balalaika. Great job! Thank you very much.

  • although it needs more refined touch...but you have a romantic touch of this song using your balalaika. keep up the good work!!!

  • Can you tell me what kind of balalaika are you playing? I know that there is bass tener and saprono. I have a balalaika my grandfather passed down to me and it looks similar to yours so can you tell me what kind it is. It would be very helpful. Sorry for my spelling mistakes.

    Thank you Miriam

  • @sexymarion68 its a prima balalaika. there is also a smaller picolo one.

  • @kpcart Thank you very much I will be learning soon how to play and I should know as much as I can about the instrument I'll be playing. My grandfather left it to me along with a mandolin I thought I would start with the balalaika. Thank you for responding. Merry Christmas!! Happy New Year

  • I love the way you play this song. I actually learned this on guitar from watching your vid. Thanks!

  • Красиво..ПРивет из России)

  • ето просто чуда.молодец.савидуе:)

  • how difficult/easy is it to learn the Balalaika? I want to be able to do that!

  • It is easy to learn HOW to play. It is a simple instrument. To play to virtuoso standard takes more dilligent practice than, say, a guitar. It is well worth the effort. It is the most beautiful instrument on the planet.

  • That is a beautiful piece you are playing. Keep up posting more vids.

  • mr. piotrwicz. would you happen to be polish

  • of course

  • only love exists now.

    love will save us all.

    unite comrades.

  • fajnie ci to wyszło!

  • Super. I played this on Bassoon.

  • superb!

  • bravo, this song make me happy=D

  • Great Playing. I got a balalaika prima recently, and I just learn to play it. I strung it with nylon strings, but it came with steel ones (30 year old ones!). Wich would you recomend? Thank you.

  • use a steel string for the first string (about011 gauge) and use 2 nylon strings (the 3rd (g) string from a classical guitar is perfect for the other 2 strings. Tune A,E,E

  • That works well, thank you. I really enjoy it.

  • Wow, I've played this in my band class. The melody is the same as the piece Moscow, 1941 if anyone's played it.

  • Браво!

  • Krzysiu - szacun dla Ciebie.

    Tak trzymaj :)

  • Мне очень нравится, спасибо. очень хорошо играете.

  • Glory to the Russian Cultures and to the all the russian people!!!

  • Thank you! Respect to you!

  • Виват Россия!

  • Damn you can play a mean Balalaika! WOOT! Polyushkaaa polllee Such an awesome song! Nice video!

  • I didn't know this was Russian. When I last heard this piece it was done by some early 60's spaghetti western orchestra, complete with lots of spring reverb, thundering deep baritone electric guitar, and those chambered kettle drums! God I wish I could just remember where I heard it from! It sounded absolutely amazing!

  • Let your balalaika sing while my guitar want to sing...

  • I followed the Moskva down to Gorgy park ;)

  • Graceful instrument and beautiful music

  • очень понравилось

  • Wow! Cool. Where did you get balalaika? You bought it? IS it russian?

  • dobra robota! melodia tradycyjna, ale czuć nutkę Twego wyrazu. Brawo!

  • Just splendid. No other words can describe.

As Wilhelm said this song makes my heart aches.

    Fav to you :)

  • bravo! Greetings from Russia!

  • nice wht is it that your playing on

  • that is the balalaika

  • comminist lyrics

  • "Poliushko polie, poliushko shiroko polie. Iedut po poliu geroi eto nashei armii geroi..." Thanks for the music. It's my heart aches...

  • thats sick man, one of my friends turned me on to the balalaika, you know your stuff bro. props.

  • Is it more difficult to play than a six string guitar?

  • for me yes, because i dont play balalaika often.

  • Beautifully done! Thank you so much!

  • great ,sad enough to my heart ache

  • Забавная игра...

  • where you get balalaika

  • try ebay

  • i like it!!! nice:)

  • вообще тама ;D

  • nice man...your just pro :p

  • Very nice! There's actually a thrift shop near me that once sold these, although I'm sure they're long sold by now. I should check it out, though :)

  • Вражья туча из-за леса....

  • I like it!

  • where the bloody hell do u get a balalaika and the music!

  • i got a balalaika from youtube from someone in Ukraine, and the music i arranged myself.

  • what do you meen you "arranged it" yourself?

  • means i play this song be ear, i dont have notes for it.

  • beautiful! great tune.

what's the tuning on a balalaika?

  • A (like on 5th fret guitar), E,E (both the same pitch as first string E on guitar).

  • that's insane. thanks! wow! two same strings, huh and just 3 of them. that doesn't seem easy at all.

  • I wish my balalaika had that tone...mine was made in the soviet uninion in 1975 and it never stays tuned and it will drive u mad.

  • mines a bit newer, but there were many bad ones made, usually you can tell the cheaper ones, the fret board ends where body starts, and they come with al metal strings. and also dont have a scratch board.

  • That describes it pretty well. Where did you get yours?

  • ebay

  • Soviet made balalaika are generally better quality because the makers were often funded by the government

  • j'aime beaucoup cet instrument !

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • Nice! Awesome! Loved It!

    Good Sound!

OK Now I'm going out to buy one!

  • awesome!!!

  • This is what I'm talking about :D Russian banjo!!

  • BRAVO!

  • clean right hand technique for only having single strings, 5 stars

  • Oi, kak u vas odnako palez ukazatel'nii ne bolit, tremolo igrat' v takom stile...:)

  • バラライカは、大好きです

    いいです、いいえ?

    dobar ovo

  • Greats from France !!

  • This is good, but also weird how the player plays like a Western guitarist; he does not use his left thumb, and his strumming technique is very individual.

Hey, the individual musicians always stand out, right?

  • Hi, yes thats the way i learned at the start, im using the thumb more often now.

  • Odlicno, ballajka je prava svar, volim da je cujem u Novosadskim tamburaskim kafanama.

  • вот.. задушевная русская достопримечательность)

  • very nice,beautiful

  • zvuchit kak kanfeta ;)

  • Це дуже добре!

By the way, may I request that someone posts the playing of Ukrainian Hopak on balalaika please? I am trying to learn it but it is very difficult, and it would be very inspirational to hear it played.

    Дякую!

  • You play very nice melodies. It's a pity that you don't understand russian -- you would read so many pleasant words in comments for your videos :)

  • I do actually understand quite a bit of Russian, but im still learning and have a long way to go. thanks for watching ;)

  • Nice job man, you have some soul going on thing, how come you're into russian culture?

    Hello from Florida, USA

  • Very beautiful man^^

  • conguralatues

  • I was in Russia a year ago, and i bouth one. i bought from a boy ( i meeted him in the school). it costed 30 euros...:)

  • Great job... Makes me want to play!

Message me, I want one of these... How do I get one?

  • look around on ebay, but dont buy the cheapest ones, and dont buy the cheap boxed ones which are made in asia.

  • greta! u play it graet man!

we r thinking about to make this melody our march .imean for besiktas

  • wow it's so diferent. cool!

  • Ehy .. how do u kno how to tune?... I really wud like to tune my balalaika.. I just started.. and it wud be great if you can make a video or help me out somehow to show me what each string sounds like tuned :D

  • For Prima Balaika size (like the one i use), top string (metal one) is tuned to an A. second and third strings (both nylon) are tuned to an E (like first string on guitar).

  • nice arrangment, great sound

Sounds better than my balalaika which i think is some sort of souvenir type instrument. Where was yours made & is it an expensive one? Is the A string steel and the E strings nylon?
