  • @tziras does the pick you use could damage your sweep pick ?

  • @kira7741

    of course no

  • @tziras but when I try it I can't execute it nice it always sound sloppy, but I can do down up down down up down and so forth

  • @kira7741 and I use a silver pick .30 and plastic .30 and .50

  • @kira7741

    do it VERY VERY SLOW

it is a matter of time to play fast and clean

  • @tziras OKie SIR, thank you very much sir !!!!!!!

  • Amazing, your very clear and show attention to the details I did not see before thank you sir! I am subbing!

  • Hey theodore!

When you sweep a Em arpeggio starting from E19 then E15, B17, G16, D17, A19, A14. What fingers do you use?

  • @321asker123

    4 1 2 1 2 4 1

  • Thanks a lot Theodore, you are the man!

  • eres español o tiens de lengua materna el castellano verdad?

  • @recuerman

    i am Greek, gracias...

  • TWO TWENTY!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can't wait to play like a normal human being. =P

  • I have trouble with the open A sounding after the legato when I play with high gain. How do you stop it from sustaining and keep it clean?

  • @brettniles

    smooth movement is the key...

  • @brettniles its not easy because of the natral harmonic

  • Great video, great teacher, great player.

  • to put a nice twist on it to make it sound more impressive, try interchanging back and forth between frest 17, 15, and 13 as your highest note. like sweep up to 17 and down, then sweep up to 15 and down, then 13, i like the sonud of it i've been messin around with it tryin to figure out what else to do with it

  • hey great vid and playing. i was just wondering how long did it take you to sweep pick like you do today from when you first started?

  • @GH3forPS3

    around 5 years...

  • @tziras Hey i've been watching your video's and i must say they have help me improve my guitar skill greatly, also are their such things as harmonic minor arpeggioes? if it's possible could u perhaps make a lick of th week on it. TY :)

  • @Dyderz2

there are no "Harmonic minor" arpeggios..

just play the minor arpeggios over any "Harmonic Minor" Chord progression

  • @tziras then are their any other arpeggios that bring much darker pressence than the minor?

  • @Dyderz2

try diminished, i already did few videos

  • Hey tziras! excellent lesson . are you using band in a box for the backing track?

    thanks!

  • @marmartif

    yes...

  • My metronome is really quite, so I always turn the volume all the way up, then play one of your videos... Then I get smacked in the face by the heavy guitar intro. :P

  • hi tziras, do you have any tips on the right hand technique in this...i'm having trouble jumping from string to string while also muting to keep it clean...especially on the upstroke...also, do you play with heavy or light strings? Thanks-

  • @clearyourthirdeye

do it extremeny slow with metrnome

this is the key....most of the guitarsits want to do fast from the begining

and then it wil be difficult to do it faster and cleaner

  • tziras, I want to know what to do if I am going to add tap after the top A on the E string. I don't think picking up would do good at least it would make it hard to tap. Should I hammer on the top A on the E string?

  • @ifluxion

    yes...

  • @tziras Thanx!

  • lets go a bit faster now.. be careful... don't try this at home

    (a flash appears)

    thats all for this week

  • and faster, sextuplets, 300, 1 2 3 go

  • And faster, sextuplets at 300

  • teacher Tziras~ i cant play my sweep clean~~ i got no idea about it, i read some article said that we need to mute those strings that are not playing by slowily lifting up the finger, but how actually it is? Did you apply this technique?

  • @ZZYY86

it is the rolling finger technique

be careful when moving for each string to the other with your left hand

  • @tziras ic~~~~ all right, sounds like i really ned to pay fully attention on it, haha thanks~~~ ^^

  • where is the backing track to this?

  • @XFunkWizardX

there is no backing track for this one...only the tab (in my website)

  • @tziras aww nevermind. Thanks for your vids man.

  • Now I get what u mean thanks ur an amazing teacher and a badass guitarist

  • Even though your camera and lighting are not as good as some other people's your clear and patient instructions make your videos much better than theirs. You are a good teacher!

  • @druban

this is Lick of the Week #2

after Lick of the Week #60 all videos are in HD quality

  • i don't get the rolling finger technique :(

  • are you south american?... no, portuguese!!! or spanish????

  • @whitemousee

  • Thank you very much and I really like the way you teach, I understand. Thanks again. Peace!

  • Hi, can i ask when u sweep with ur picking hand which notes do u palm mute. Im especialy interested in the descending move when u move ur hand up, which notes do u mute with ur picking hand? Thanks:)

  • @longinus101

i am muting all ther strings with both hands

    this is really important

  • @tziras can you plz make a quick video explaining that in better detail?

  • @0denSmash

i have already did few videos about this technique

  • @tziras wich vidz if you dont mind me asking

  • @0denSmash

  • NOW I WILL APPLY THE SWEEP PICKING TECHNIQUE! Guitar playing power is now over 9 thousand.

  • omg i love these lessons thank you 1000 times for sending me the friend invite

  • Beautiful guitar

  • what you're trying to say is that a baby must learn, first how to crawl before learn to walk =)

  • "Its like a baby.. uh. it doesn't starts to run from the first day.. its walk slowly and then.. it will gradually increase the speed. and then.. walk like a normal human being i suppose"

    Wise words. Great Instructor.

  • man thi lesoon is great!!! which amp do you use???

    thanks Theodore Ziras.

  • I wouldn't have compared the speed of learning sweep picking to how a baby learns to walk...but that just made the video even classier! Haha. This is insane dude - I've always found it so hard to do sweep picking with anything more than 3 strings...this has really helped, so thanks :)

  • lol at 8:42 he says be very careful when trying at home.... he means "the guitar is a weapon...dont fuckin kill yourself with it...."

  • thank you so much, this helped alot

  • hey ziras!! is the intro song of this video urs? pls tell me the name and the album of that. thx!

  • @catapei

All the intro songs are mine

Track: "Jordan's Trap" from "Territory 4' CD (2009)

    available in tunes

  • Very good lesson!

  • i find it easier to play this one with all 6 strings starting with the 12 on the 6 string using the pinkey, then the 10 on the 5 string using the middle finger, then the 9 on the 4 string using the pointer finger, then the 9 on the 3 string using the ring finger, then the 8 on the 2 string using the middle finger, then the 7 on the 1 string using the pointer finger and hammering onto the 12 with the pinkey and going back down. or playing the same thing but staring on the 7 on the 6 string

  • 8 fuckers will never learn sweep picking

  • With the help of this video i am able to finally sweep pick at a moderate speed cleanly. This is by far on of the best teaching videos i have watched.

  • You rock dude. I am practicing this every day

  • you know i got out of lessons cuz i couldnt afford em but i guess i can kinda take lessons here hey? haha um i have pretty good speed i think just not that much theory. Do you do more then just licks and sweeps? like show why something is in this key or why a scale works with a certain rhythm and so on? p.s ur really good so i wanna know michaelo angelo batio- no boundaries. Its on youtube, if you can play that ill be very impressed :D

  • i got one question. how fast can you go? oh and thanks for the lesson.

  • @lovenarutoshow

    around 320bpm 16th notes

    around 210bpm sextuplets

  • Thanks dude

  • this dude is awesome! thumbs up if u agree and actually learned something!

  • Muy buena lección!

    Un saludo.

  • And i have this patend and have a product that i have made for me that i use for the studio and recording to get a cleaner sound. So i will know if ppl are stealing my idea and calling it there own. Thanks ppl!

  • So what the sock dose is a palm mute so it will let the not ring as long as you hold the note but as you release the note the sock will not let the string ring openlySo this will give you the sweeping sound you want so you can get a feel for how its supposed to sound and be done and you can hear and fell it on your own.And when you fell comfy you can take the sock off and use your right hand to palm mute the strings and it will be a lot easier.Grtaz ppl!!

  • 2/3Get a sock a tube sock not a short one .Take it and wrap it around the neck so it wraps over the strings and around the back of the neck where your palm of your hand is.What this dose is when you are trying to learn how to sweep its hard to control the strings from ringing out or sustaining there notes and what you are wanting it a individual note from every string but with out sustain..

  • 1/2

@tairas A good way to explayne sweeping with your right hand is its one fulid motion back and fourth.Unless you are alternating or tapping in between notes. But if you are doing a basic 3 string arpeggios or even 6 string it dont matter how manny strings you use.But the motion of your hand is continuios and fulid every string its hit all in time1-2-3-4-5-6-6-5-4-3-2-1-1-2-3-4-5-6.But what helped me and its my secret all tell you you wont belive how much it really dose help!.

  • i wish i had this man's pinky

but it would make my other fingers look bad

  • hey, i cant find the backing track for this video lesson, can u please help me find it

  • @MrRandomBlahhh

  • @soqrattes

3-4 hours a day it is ok...

  • @soqrattes you should continue practicing until all of the notes have a clear and individual sound. practice until you can play it fast as hell

  • @soqrattes it took me a constant 3 hours a day for a whole month to get it, but trust me once you get it down, it is really worth learning.

  • tziars my lil finger so hurts shall i stop for 1 day ? or i keep traning on altrenat picking part2 i can do fast now

use the 4th finger over all those exercises

  • it's very very fast, so, be careful when doing this at home haha

  • this vid is very very helpful. thank you!!!!

  • Hey, TZ. Great stuff. Just discovered you. I can usually hold my own on the guitar but sweep picking is my downfall and I've always wanted to do this well. You inspired me to sit my ass down and just practice, practice, and practice so more. I will take it slow like you say. Hopefully in a year, I'll move beyond that!! Thanks- Charles

  • i think if you play the sweep pickings too fast it don`t listens well

  • awesome lesson. thanks so much Theodore

  • ありがとうございます tziras。i can sweep at a very slow tempo thanks to you! :D

  • you are a good teacher..

  • lol ^_^ be careful dont do this at home! hehe

i need to learn this for my solos...

  • Can you do a lesson covering the melodic minor scale across the neck

  • "I can go faster but there's no point" Hilarious

  • Thanks a lot Ted - excellent lesson and clear explanation.

  • So Sweep picking is kinda like a faster, flashy way to play barre chords?? cause isent arpeggios just Barre chords played one note at a time??

  • @ZappaOwnsYourFace93

    no ..it is not

sweep picking is a technique mainly to play fast arpeggios

  • @ZappaOwnsYourFace93 Its a broken chord. YES

  • @ZappaOwnsYourFace93 also arpeggios is just when u play the chords notes individually, instead of at the same time. also it doesnt have to be bar chords.

  • @ZappaOwnsYourFace93 but Arpeggios is exactly that; chords, on note at a time

  • @ZappaOwnsYourFace93 no its not its just a different way to shred and arpeggios arnt just bar chords you sound like a idot when you just said that wow

  • what kinda pick shud i use? is a jazz pick ok?

  • @ShredAllDay04

    yes..there are o.k

  • Then walk like a... a normal human being, I suppose...

Dont know why, but I lol'd

    Thanks for the lesson

  • helped me alot !

    thanks

  • MAN!!!

You do realize that sextuplets at 200 bpm equals 20 notes per second!!!

    You rock man!

I actually have a question: I have no problem sweep-picking at those speeds, but I don't know if I'm doing it right! It's all a blur! I can't really see what my hands are doing and I can't hear if I'm hitting all the notes at speeds like that!

I know that I do it right at slower speeds, but when I cross the 120 bpm "border" I don't know if it's ok.

  • @FranLesPaul

Yes...i know about the 20 notes per sec

If you can do it perfrcly at 100bpm.....then it is just a matter of time to do it faster

generally at high speed we all tend to loose the picking control

  • @tziras cool. ok then, I'm gonna go pratice the guitar now xD

  • Tziras how do you get that sound out of your guitar what effects are you using?

  • @Creedy94

Line6 POD (any version will do the job)

  • Track: Jordan's' Trap (CD: Territory 4)

  • What is the name of the song in the very beginning?

  • I am practicing sweeps for about 5 months right now but I am pretty stuck at about 120 bpm....I do not know how to proceed....could you give me some advice ?

  • @RainbowShaker

if you can do it right and slow it is a matter of time to do it right and fast

    be patient...speed will come..

  • @tziras

yeah, maybe I should start using a metronom.

did not use it while practicing before.

    thank you

  • Comment removed

  • thats amazing! i'm struggling with sweeping for some time.. hope this helps :) efgaristo

  • No talk somuch . The talk make a guitar no so much
