I bought the US version of the Live at Wacken dvd and the edit of this song is different. The camera shows different things than this video does during the song. I was wondering if the PAL version of the dvd differs from the US version and if this video was taken off of the PAL dvd? I prefer this version of the video and may get the PAL dvd if this version Carving a Giant is on it.
I really do wish that I could have seen them perform live. This is the most beautiful display I have ever seen. Plus, Gaahl has a very unique voice, so guttural and intense. Makes me feel like in going to hell, LOL.
Gorgoroth isn't supposed to sound 'good.' It is supposed to sound ugly, oppressive, intense and dead-cold. The whole idea behind it isn't the musical quality but rather the atmospherics. Go to a Gorgoroth show and you will find out that it is *nothing* like watching a live recording or YouTube video. It's a whole other world.

i like gaahl very much but pest is way better in my opinion, gorgoroth recorded two black metal classic albums with pest (antichrist and under the sign of hell) but sadly pest lost his voice, he had very kvlt voice in the middle of the 90s.

Well, to some extent I agreed that Black Metal may be less technical than whatever metal you mentioned, but thinking about black metal musicians, most of them do not just pursue a music career, but in fact do other jobs, King Ov Hell used to be a teacher. Financial constraint, lack of time, ... may all contribute to the rawness of the music, what others may falsely perceive as 'talentless', But BM at first was about the atmosphere, not many audiences a band may reach.

@CriPtTicK I know that Gaahl is a homosexual. But I thought that the figures were humane because I recall that there was some gig in which they claimed that they put real people on the crosses. It was the one in Krakow. So I thought that maybe they put real people there in all of their gigs. Anyway, they look so real, it's unbelievable. It must have cost much less to hire real people then to buy/rent those perfect mannequins :)

Well, to some extent I agreed that Black Metal may be less technical than whatever metal you mentioned, but thinking about black metal musicians, most of them do not just pursue a music career, but in fact do other jobs, King Ov Hell used to be a teacher. Financial constraint, lack of time, ... may all contribute to the rawness of the music, what others may falsely perceive as 'talentless', But BM at first was about the atmosphere, not many audiences a band may reach.
