  • do you realise just how old this song is? i was a teeneger when it was abig hit and now i am 15 years older and i still love it! greetings from estonia!

  • I know it from my english lessons. I love this song, it´s so powerful and phil collins has a beautiful voice! Great.

  • Wirklich dieses Lied geht mir unter die Haut das is genial genesis hats echt drauf auch wenn sie nich so zu meinem lieblingsgenre gehoeren ich hoer sie immerwieder

  • in my english lesson at class 8 i hear it first. great song <3

  • Wow, this is such a powerful song. I've gone through some pretty bad things with both of my parents over the year. I kinda started to feel like both of them didn't consider me their son. Things are a bit better now, but it still sucks sometimes. I really love this song. It speaks to me on a deep level.

  • Man those days were so carefree songs like this take me back.

  • i remember when i saw this video on mtv in 1992..how much has happened since in he music world and how joyful life was..miss those days..

  • I was only 4 during the time this came out but I agree with you. Can't stand the music that is popular today.

  • wish those times were back, damn

  • my dad used to always play this song to me whenever i went to his house. Now that i hear this song it touches me even more because now ive got split feelings about if i miss my dad or if im better off without him,

apparently i was miserable whenever i saw him. anyway ive got a pretty good life now compared to how it was before, but it wouldve been nice to hav a father as a role model or as a second income so i could play more sport or hav my mum stay at home with me.

  • get a life

  • my father passed mar 25 1982, you will miss him !! peace always. 69 vader.

  • j'adore

  • Stunning.

  • I miss my dad too. What a great song. And so very sad.

  • you listened. at least the people who have viewed this in the main like it. whats your excuse?

  • Powerfull song, really good, maybe i just think so because how it reminds me of how bad my relationship with my dad is... still a great song though, thanks

  • my dad likes this i do too

  • What a coming-back from Genesis in the early 90*ies... ( and what a clip!) Still what loud drumming, but what a touching black/white clip...and they liked it, because : they were the oldies then ;-) Something here to remind of for many decades : very different of late 80*ies for sure, it was the new beginning! But we are now 2009, so please reunion of this fantastic ever band! Very touching song indeed!! Thxs FrankGenesis, but the music in this here is too loud ;-)) Sorry. Dolby C???

  • I would rather hear this song being played too loud rather than the crap that is popular nowadays.

  • The music industry needs these guys back, especially Phil!!

  • this song is so touching ... i love it!!!

  • so sad:(

  • great song

  • While this song was played in heavy rotation on the music channels in the early 90s, I'm afraid I took this Gensis beauty for granted. What a great song lyrically and musically.

  • ihear ya crotches

  • very haunting guitar rift

  • My step-father died this summer.

I'm pretty sure he hated me.

  • I'm sorry :[

wish things could have been better between you both..

  • Fuck someone give me comfort. I can't stop playing this song today.

  • *comfort* here you are.

  • I'm sorry for your pain. can't imagine

  • Jesus I Miss My Dad

  • My dad used to beat my mum up something bad. If one pea wasn't cooked right, he'd throw the plate across the room. I wonder where he is now, is he in heaven, or ????

  • Yeah me too, my dad died when i was 18. 8 years later I'm still confused about him. I Loved him though

  • This song really hits home. I had a strained relationship with my dad when I was 16 and almost lived out a scenario like this years later.

  • As growing older in the 90*ies, since the 70*ies....I find this song is really one of the best of Genesis (OK this is winter time, maybe I say it now). And I do not miss Peter Gabriel...Phil, Mike and Tony does here their really best! And what a video (Marvelleous!!!)

  • I agree. While their earlier songs were more complex, this album seemed to have the best and most emotion to come from Phil, Mike, and Tony.

  • I totally recommend their later tracks than the ones when they first started. Peter Gabriel definitely another ACE in the band. If one likes progressive, Genesis could never be out of our favorites' list.... Hay Genesis para toda la vida Compas...

  • This band is genius. One of the best old bands around.

  • What a great song. Keep going Phil. When is your next album?????

  • He retired

  • Grate Song

  • Is it just me, or does the young boy look like Ewan McGreggor?

  • there's an undenyable resemblance

  • phil collins=just the best!!

  • PASSWORD GREEN 5

  • Eines der besten Stücke von Genesis

  • yeahsssssss xDDDDDDD

  • fuckin and fuckin amazing, the best Genesis song in my opinion, killer song. I like also Home by The Sea, but it is in second place.

  • Have you hear their stuff from the '70s?

  • yeah! i'm 15 years old but love all genesis! =)

  • I love all Genesis as well. I'm 25. Do you own the new box set? I do

  • yeah! a friend of my dad landed us the whole genesis last show but we just get the copy yet, all we could make. This friend of my dad was the third to buy it on Brazil. We also have Phil Collins last farewell, but original. =)

  • That is cool

  • and inside the box, one of the pages, there is a picture of the supporters/stalls and that guy carrying the brazilian flag right in front is a friend of my family too. cant believe he appeared in the picture lol

  • In the 3rd box?

  • yep! ^-^

  • i love them and i'm 13

  • awesome, i starded to hear them when i was 5 years old and other classics too, like Yes, Alan Parsons.. well, i like progressive, but also bands like acdc, gnr, or more recent like evanescence.. =]

  • im 14 and i love them

  • Hey me too!!!!!!!!!

  • im 16 and i love them, too : )

  • because their music is great!

  • świetny kawałek, Genesis to perfekcyjny zespół ;)

  • bad quality but the song is awesome

  • We just listened to it today in the English lesson, too! And our only homework was: "Watch the youtube video because it's great!"^^ And it is!

  • I am just curious, why is everyone listening to this song in English class?

  • I second that question . .what a strange lesson :S

  • xD you are lucky!we had to translare it :(

  • Lucky you, I left my English school because the music bloody sucked!!! xD Imagine, No Son Of Mine at my English class, just miracle. Well, 'Jesus Didnt know me' in there!

  • Really? I took it to a class of mine today. I do not know whether the kids liked it, but two months ago a class liked it so much that some children downloaded it onto their cell phones. Music is one of the - if not the - best ways to learn English :) Especially through quality songs like this.

  • I'm agree!Music is the best way to learn English.Especially if you listen music that you love.Like this one.

Phil i love you so much everyday more than yesterday.Your music is like a medicine for me.Thanks to exist! Thanks to Genesis era Peter Gabriel too!!!

  • And your brother is a single child

  • Das Lied ist voll toll...5** xDD

  • damn, phil sure knows how to write a song that makes you think! good stuff man!!

  • i dont really understand what he's tryna say.

    can sum1 please explain

  • HE's basically saying that if you raise your youngs kindly and wit' respect, they won't grow up to batter women, children or defenseless peers. In a way Sir COLLINS is denouncing cowardice to put it bluntly dear. This fucken ballad is so fucken deep.SNIFFFF...

  • thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment. i really appreciate it!

but please dont swear, especially if you get the spelling of the word wrong! hehehe

  • luv this tune

    this a classic

  • COWARDS.

  • It's all to true Ray.. hang in there..

  • When you live thur a song like this ..Then it brings pain and tears!...

  • I'm bawling here, thinking the same thing.

  • You're SO RIGHT my friend. SNIFF...

  • I LOVE this song!

  • phil is great he is god heeeeeeeeerlijke muziek

  • The young lad in the video is played by Martino Lazzeri and is best known 4 playing Alex Bell in Hollyoaks from 1999-2002

  • Ye Gods the young man in the video is gorgeous(I am not a perv, he is older than me now), I wonder if he is still acting. The song makes a little more sense after seeing the video, but it just seems to be a little short on the lyrics.

  • He looks like a young Harry Connick Jr!

  • amo muito ...

    i love he...

  • muy buena cancion y un buen video.

  • I cry every other time i hear this song

  • I love the way this video is filmed; It's not in color, but it's not completely in black & white either; It's just somwhere in the middle. Where can I get that kind of film for my camera? Another video like that is Kylie Minogue's "Give Me Just a Little More Time". Check it out...

  • it is a sepia

  • the special effect is called sepia. i know video cameras have that kind of effect but i dont know about regular ones.

  • I've got a different version of this, where on the chorus he only says "no guy of mine" once. This one is way better!

  • Possibly my favorite Genesis song! The parent CD, "We Can't Dance" is great all the way through!

  • I adore this song it's a masterpiece

  • Thats pathetic, how can you even say that? How does a clock sound like a vibrator?

  • Una de las mas sonadas de Genesis..muy buena rola.

  • sounds like Phil Collins - In the air tonight

  • Wow i love this song and the music video is great! Genesis is my favorite!

  • i love this one

  • YouTube video's: The perfect place to tell the world about all your emotional issues.

  • these are lyrics of life

  • ____snif_____

  • Why phill wrote this lirycs????

  • It is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard in my life. My dad passed away 2 years ago. I can't say he was an abusive man, but I did get my share of beatings as a child, and I always felt he never really opened up to me one on one. We never got to know each other well and be friends. He got really sick at the end of his life, and that's when we became closer than ever before. I miss him, I love him, and I still wish me and him could've talked more with each other. If only...

  • some people can stand over this problem you have. i think you are interested in money and people who have much money.right?

  • no wonder you father didn't want to be in your life

  • you just did

  • I never really knew my father I met him when I was 7 and then one year later he walks away again I saw him a few times then he went to holland, I went to visit but it was a horrid time. the last time I ever saw him was when he left me and my sister at Mc donalds, because of that I don't ever want to see him again.

  • Genesis over the top this song it was my mantra for years... My dad was extremely abusive too me and it took me till I was in my mid 30's to deal with him... We buried the past and now I am the secondary primary care taker of my dad... before he really got sick he told me he wishes he could change the past. Even being 50 now I still have not forgot and dont think I will.

  • Genesis is very creative and powerful with their songs and videos. All of their songs have a good meaning.

  • man what a song it really brings back the sorrow and pain and hurt my father put me through it was very very bad i used to dream he was a monster looking for me to hurt me and now after all these many years later and he is dead now i still fear him but i have forgiven him and love him but find myself angery at him some days once in awhile

  • Phil Collins is a genious when it comes to song writing, he has the balls to write about subjects that other song writers won't touch.

  • Beest song!

  • This video is close to perfection. I like it especially when the lights start flashing in the chorus.

  • becgts:

just wait until you have kids of your own. Then you'll really understand how powerful pieces of this song are.

Phil Collins is an amazing artist.

  • i love this song i was 4 when i heard this for the first time I'm thirteen now and now i understand it. It's a very power full and meaningful song that's what i love about Phil Collins he doesn't just sing random shit like rappers and hip hop artist. straight out one of the best singers ever!!!!

  • this song reminds me of the band enigma... they have a lot of songs that sound like genesis. except the singer is a chick.

  • un gran video

  • agreed...this song is sssooo POWERFUL...

  • Jesus...I forgot how powerful this song is.

  • true - this song is so wonderful - it gives you the goosebumps everytime I hear it

  • This is one of the few bands that manage to give me goosebumps EVERY time.

  • to all the Genesis fans, please enter to my channel, watch my tribute to Genesis and comment! I'll be thankful!

  • Not to be fussy but this song is clipping so badly like nearly every other genesis song turn the volume recording level down it sounds totally distorted, but maybe i'm fussy.

  • Such a powerful song. And the kid in the video is amazing, all that intensity in someone so young, wonder who he is and what happened to him. Wonder what made Phil Collins write this.

  • Man, there are some sad comments (stories)in this video. Thanks for sharing. All this have made me realize how lucky I am to still have a father well and alive. Peace.

  • My story's is I had an abusive Dad who kicked me out after the death of my mom as a kid, but I founfd out years later when I was getting married that he wasn't my biological father. He was an abusive man, who lied to me. But, I have been found by my real Father who is the True Father of life, God the Father. Saved by Grace. I can now look back with forgivness, but I will never forget.

  • Very touching indeed. I'm glad you didn't let all that abuse get to you. I hope you are the best father for your kids (if you have any). Love and Peace.

  • just another great song beyond the depths of it's lyrics

  • My father died of a brain tumor when I was six, and as hard as it was, for some reason I just knew that I wasn't the only person to lose a father, and that matured me quite a bit. wow I just realized its been exactly 20 years...Always felt like I had been more fortunate than others. So I never felt sorry for myself, I cared more about others who lost someone. My fathers mother abandoned him by him self when he was 12, and still went to college, married my mom. Swfc012, u have my respect...

  • you have mine too as ur story is much worse than mine.. but look on bright side you can still enjoy genesis :D

  • yes my dad left me when i was 4.. so don't go feelin so sorry for urself cos lots of people feel like u did and im sorry that any1 should feel that way.. okay so don't call me a cunt please.

  • my dad can play this on a sythaseizer

  • this song reminds me of my dad. before he fucked off and left me, he always said that was the worst thing a father could ever say to his son.

  • your not the only person in this world without a dad..

  • really?! good god who would have guessed that eh?! cunt

  • rofl dont even bother im not in mood..

  • I love this video

  • This is an awsome song. The video is great and really matches the song to perfection. Phil Collins does a great job of expressing the song in his face as well as voice. The lyrics are perfectly placed together.

5 stars; My Favorites; Playlist Material
