do you realise just how old this song is? i was a teeneger when it was abig hit and now i am 15 years older and i still love it! greetings from estonia!
Wirklich dieses Lied geht mir unter die Haut das is genial genesis hats echt drauf auch wenn sie nich so zu meinem lieblingsgenre gehoeren ich hoer sie immerwieder
Wow, this is such a powerful song. I've gone through some pretty bad things with both of my parents over the year. I kinda started to feel like both of them didn't consider me their son. Things are a bit better now, but it still sucks sometimes. I really love this song. It speaks to me on a deep level.
my dad used to always play this song to me whenever i went to his house. Now that i hear this song it touches me even more because now ive got split feelings about if i miss my dad or if im better off without him,
apparently i was miserable whenever i saw him. anyway ive got a pretty good life now compared to how it was before, but it wouldve been nice to hav a father as a role model or as a second income so i could play more sport or hav my mum stay at home with me.
Powerfull song, really good, maybe i just think so because how it reminds me of how bad my relationship with my dad is... still a great song though, thanks
What a coming-back from Genesis in the early 90*ies... ( and what a clip!) Still what loud drumming, but what a touching black/white clip...and they liked it, because : they were the oldies then ;-) Something here to remind of for many decades : very different of late 80*ies for sure, it was the new beginning! But we are now 2009, so please reunion of this fantastic ever band! Very touching song indeed!! Thxs FrankGenesis, but the music in this here is too loud ;-)) Sorry. Dolby C???
While this song was played in heavy rotation on the music channels in the early 90s, I'm afraid I took this Gensis beauty for granted. What a great song lyrically and musically.
My dad used to beat my mum up something bad. If one pea wasn't cooked right, he'd throw the plate across the room. I wonder where he is now, is he in heaven, or ????
As growing older in the 90*ies, since the 70*ies....I find this song is really one of the best of Genesis (OK this is winter time, maybe I say it now). And I do not miss Peter Gabriel...Phil, Mike and Tony does here their really best! And what a video (Marvelleous!!!)
I totally recommend their later tracks than the ones when they first started. Peter Gabriel definitely another ACE in the band. If one likes progressive, Genesis could never be out of our favorites' list.... Hay Genesis para toda la vida Compas...
yeah! a friend of my dad landed us the whole genesis last show but we just get the copy yet, all we could make. This friend of my dad was the third to buy it on Brazil. We also have Phil Collins last farewell, but original. =)
and inside the box, one of the pages, there is a picture of the supporters/stalls and that guy carrying the brazilian flag right in front is a friend of my family too. cant believe he appeared in the picture lol
awesome, i starded to hear them when i was 5 years old and other classics too, like Yes, Alan Parsons.. well, i like progressive, but also bands like acdc, gnr, or more recent like evanescence.. =]

Really? I took it to a class of mine today. I do not know whether the kids liked it, but two months ago a class liked it so much that some children downloaded it onto their cell phones. Music is one of the - if not the - best ways to learn English :) Especially through quality songs like this.
HE's basically saying that if you raise your youngs kindly and wit' respect, they won't grow up to batter women, children or defenseless peers. In a way Sir COLLINS is denouncing cowardice to put it bluntly dear. This fucken ballad is so fucken deep.SNIFFFF...

It is one of the most touching songs I've ever heard in my life. My dad passed away 2 years ago. My story's is I had an abusive Dad who kicked me out after the death of my mom as a kid, but I founfd out years later when I was getting married that he wasn't my biological father. He was an abusive man, who lied to me. But, I have been found by my real Father who is the True Father of life, God the Father. Saved by Grace. I can now look back with forgivness, but I will never forget.
Very touching indeed. I'm glad you didn't let all that abuse get to you. I hope you are the best father for your kids (if you have any). Love and Peace.
My father died of a brain tumor when I was six, and as hard as it was, for some reason I just knew that I wasn't the only person to lose a father, and that matured me quite a bit. wow I just realized its been exactly 20 years...Always felt like I had been more fortunate than others. So I never felt sorry for myself, I cared more about others who lost someone. My fathers mother abandoned him by him self when he was 12, and still went to college, married my mom. This is an awsome song. The video is great and really matches the song to perfection. Phil Collins does a great job of expressing the song in his face as well as voice. The lyrics are perfectly placed together.

This is an awsome song. The video is great and really matches the song to perfection. Phil Collins does a great job of expressing the song in his face as well as voice. The lyrics are perfectly placed together.

Fantastic song. Genesis was a great band. I really love Phil Collins's voice, it sounds kinda magic.
