I have a 2003 with 170,000 miles on it. I have put 2 sets of tires on it, one tune up, and one brake job. That is all. They are fabulous for reliability. In fact, I am trading mine in on new 09 TDI jetta on Monday.
Hit or miss. Some are trouble-free. MANY have small issues. We have owned: Saab 900 (awesome), buick lesabre '95 (great but wrecked), -----VW Golf 1.8T from 2001 (Total lemon)------, honda accord '98 (awesome), accord '04 (awesome), MPV '00 (crap), Previa '95 (AWESOME, but deer jumped into windscreen), corolla '90 (274K and sold it), camry '88 (totalled by other driver), camry '89 (V6 LE, still running smooth), Talon '95 (ok, not great)
Just bought my Reflex Silver 2009 Jetta Sportwagon TDI with black interior! This model has been clocked up to 60 miles per gallon on fuel that is cheaper than gasoline now! Do the math and get in the waiting line for this car because it is worth it!! The engine will last twice as long as a gasoline one!
