I've never actually seen a "Western" in action,, so I was a bit surprised at the thick black exhaust being emitted. I've always thought that these diesel-hydraulics have a pleasing appearance in photos I have seen of them. I like that livery too. It's good to see a film of one in action. Thanks :)
@GMCobh The Westerns do indeed look good by appearance, but the thrash and clag they produce is what makes them one of the most popular diesel types in the UK! D1015 Western Champion however, isn't the only one good at clag; the National Railway Museum's D1023 Western Fusilier is another grand clagger too!
Lovely jubbly there David shame it wasnt that good out of Crewe tonight because it was taking the Stoke line grrrr 5 well deserved stars though m8 87006.
Cheers My God the clag Dave was immense!! Bastard work meant that I was unable to watch this monster! God cant wait till she'sout again now. 5* deffo!
My story though, Forgot camera disk to camcorder so used digital to film it outta Crewe. Ye left the camera on 350119 to Birmingham and wasnt handed in :( Now I have no footage of D1015 CLAGGING outta Crewe, merrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
how do u find out about railtours like this i would have much preferred something like this than sat staring at pendlinos at rudgeley like i did yesterday
Thanks! It was indeed a claggy departure; almost identical to the one I witnessed when D1015 turned up at Warrington in June, on it's way to Scotland. Beast!!!!!
Yeh. I never seen it before. Im from Bristol area so we never get anything like that. Do you know the London area well? I wanna go and see 92s, 90s, and 86s and probably pendolinos next week. Im thinking Bushey which is 5 mins south of Watford. I also wouldnt mind seeing all the highspeed on the ECML. So might go to the first little station from Kings Cross (Cant remember the name). I will be going to Clapham jn from Bristol. You reckon I can do this is a day?
