I'm far too late to be of any help but you can get enemy items with the grappling hook. If you use it on a bokoblin you automatically get a joy pendant. Same for moblins and skull necklaces, dark nuts and knights crest, chus and their respective jellies, and birds and peahats for golden feathers. It makes it really easy to get the 20 joy pendants, golden feathers, and 10 knights crests needed for the side stuff. Actually, you eventually need 20 joy pendants to finish the game.

actually after you get the hook its great weapon to snatch items from other monsters :P like if you use it to the pigs you will always get joy pendant from them. sometimes it just needs few tries.
