I remember overtaking a regular Hydrofoil in one of these Jetfoils way back in the mid 70s when I was a kid. Can you imagine the feeling as a young boy 'beating' the hydrofoil? I love these old Jetfoils!
Yes, I have watched it for a few times and very impressed by the then very new invention of the 60's and I even built a PT20 type hydrofoil models and put it in the youtube.
well it was weird at first because you were flying in the air and going really fast. on the one i went on you could go outside and it was pretty immense.
seriously recomend it. but if you think thats good, and you want more thrills, check out Zorbing.
FYI: this jetfoil is build by (BMS) Boeing Marine system in the mid 70s to the mid 90s, model 929-100 to 929-117, and later on, builded by Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Most of the jetfoil for the Macau Hong Kong line is about 30 years old, and they are not in production anymore......once they are gone, they are gone!
HK has passed a NO SMOKING policy in public spaces, I believe in Jan 07.
What does that mean to you? No smoking on any Jetfoils anywhere to or from HK.
Jetfoils typically don't allow passengers on deck once it leaves dock, so when everyone is locked inside, BREATHING IS MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE NOW! AHHH! :-)
QUIT SMOKING. I personnal have seen friends got stroke on age 45 - 50. Then they quit smoking. I never smoke for the following reasons (1)it costs money (2)it smells bad (3)it looks stupid.(4)it could burn your home.
It's a hydrofoil - essentially it uses 'wings' which sit under the water and create lift, much in the same way as an aeroplane wing. The Boeing Jetfoil in the video is powered by gas turbines and uses a computer to maintain stability during 'flight.'
i rode on one of those in the 80s it was in Alaska just doing exibition runs and they were giving rides on it you couldnt tell it was moving once it got up it was so smooth it was amazing
Great video buddy, amazing machine!!! :))

I really don't understand how these things work.
I mean what? do they just float on those ski things or what?
biggestMetallicAfan 2 years ago
The skis are shaped to generate hydrodynamic lift and pull the boat out of the water.
ChrisInAStrangeLand 2 years ago
It is the wing which lift the boat.

I wander if this boat can travel 100 MPH?
sideslide23 2 years ago
nowhere near it. they go maybe 40mph, 50 tops. not really fast, they just have enough lift to get them off the water.
