Credit where credit's due, he is a rather good pianist. This performance is bit rushed at times (a stylistic choice, but still don't understand why), and the general showmanship is of a silly type, certainly not the kind Liszt indulged in.
He is working that melody. It seems like he is feeling it. Is there something wrong with the video? This was fairly recent. This is Valentines Day 2012. Franz Liszt was quite a character. I love his music. Good performance Lang Lang.
"Passions, violent or not, may never be expressed to the point of revulsion; even in the most frightening situation music must never offend the ear but must even then offer enjoyment, i.e. must always remain music." -- W.A.Mozart
Vamos... me parece a mí.... claro....

Horowitz plays Liszt Consolation No. 3
M. Perahia Liszt Consolation No.3
Franz Liszt, Consolation nº 3, Tito García
González, piano
Lang Lang - Liszt's Consolation No.3
Fernando Puchol - Liszt Consolation 3

I saw him perform this as an "encore" for a Beethoven piano concerto he played last week. He really is quite a special talent.
