why is it that almost every station that I've seen that is HD, the studio cameras are HD, but the field shouldermounts aren't. They're just widescreen. I don't get it
In fact, not all are. Today journalists are taking the role of the photographer as well. I don't think ANY news station would be willing to give a couple thousand dollar camera to a reporter. Even in the studios the cameras are on auto dollies. No station wants to replace a very expensive camera!
actually, HD cameras are more than a "couple thousand dollar"... I know there are alot of one man bands. And I've been behind the scenes at two stations in town. Their HD studio cameras are not robotic. They are all still on pedestal. and, also, stations are replacing manual cameras with robotic in-studio ones because they take less personnel to operate.
um. so the fuck what? I'm still a major, and I still know more than you. You don't know me or what I've done. I've WORKED at the CBS affiliate in Birmingham. Stuff your dick up your ass and call that bull.
Your comment was on the mark. But at KUSA 9News they have switched to the pedistals (somewhat automated). The directors job is to dictate camera location as well as the usual duties. The only person I saw on set was a woman working an arm with a HD camera and occationally moving the HD cameras to make better shots. The autopedistals are not perfect. But in the KUSA Backyard, the forecasters use cameras that are firmly planed in the ground. I see apsolutely no physical human to camera component.
i like the new graphics for the 6pm newscast, but they butchered the other openings with that whole "glow and fade" effect. and how hard is it to create a new backdrop for the set behind the desk like they did with WB39 News? If you're not going to revamp at least shake something up. . .
Well assuming that they dont have a local art department, and that the set it self was a "catalog ordered set" it would take a lot. wtvj would not be equipped with the materials nor the know how inorder to redo the backdrop, they would have to special order it likely.
Well, WTVJ wasn't even supposed to be still an NBC O&O, but since the deal with Post-Newsweek fell through, they have been playing catch-up with NBC6.
This week has seen the renewal of their website to the new O&O site design. Also, you still see the old graphics here and there, and nothing seems to have the new NBC6 logo except the bug on the bottom right.
So I think NBC Artworks probably got rushed to get something out there, and just reused the palm trees.
I believe there set is fine for this economy. It presents the anchors in an orderly fashion in a nice artistic way. Its also expensive to completely redo a set.
what company did these graphics?

i guess. . . i've always been a fan of wtvj's visual presentation. it's just that sometimes they lack in comparison to other local medias.

back of the set is a duratran I believe and it did change from NBC6 to WB39. But allegedly there wasn't money for a set change so there was one.
And i think the set is custom made, for when they moved to the new building in 2000

Um.. why the heck did they use WNBC News 2009?
Stealthguy06 2 years ago
Cause it's not called WNBC News 2009. It's NBC New Generation 4 which is quite a syndicated package.

I know that

NBC New Generation 4 in fact is much better in this new look!
