  • You have so much courage to do this, just know that you really tought me a lesson here, Thank you!

  • i think that you have a lot of courage to do something like this. I just want to let you know that you are a beautiful person and sometime we are so wrapped up in life that we forget that we are all human and equal .......thanks for refreshing my memory

  • i have CP too, about the same severity as you. you pretty much summed up exactly how i feel. its hard, but i dont dwell on the negatives. if i had been born "normal", i wouldnt be me. i'm glad i have the perspective that i do. but sometimes i wish i could make people understand that i'm not any different, so they dont have to treat me different. anyway, thanks for your bravery and giving a (silent) voice and face to (for lack of a better word) us. :)

  • I live in San Diego, Glad to have locals like you sharing there story...your perfect just how you are!

  • My oldest sister has the same condition. Hers is the more serious kind. When I was younger I hated when others would stare. Everybody is different, and they're also curious, yet there is never an excuse for teasing someone about it. Just wanted to share my thoughts since I came across your video.

  • you are Beautiful! Thank you!

  • Inspiring, (happy face icon thing)

  • Just watched you on the KUSI news. Great job Eric! You are beautiful! don't let people change you stay strong. You inspire me.

  • GOOD my man

  • You ARE perfect...exactly the way God made you.

  • thank you

  • Shave your stash. Thanks and good job with the video even though the whole thing was dumb I thought it had a good message even though it didn't.

    thanks!

  • @SSBBify YOU are a douche-bag and obviously unable to even make a simple decision, let alone an intelligent comment. It was good, no...wait...it was bad...yes it was...no it wasn't... Wow

  • @OctoberRose62 I think your a gremlin. I'm leaving the party, and i want you to stuff the ice chest. Thank you.

  • That hat's too big for you.

  • this was really inspirational :) it touched me and i also jus wanted to say u hav the cutest dimple! ^_^ and yea

  • awww im soo sorry and by the way i no how you feel im deaf and i do sometimes feel like people are talking about behind my back and again you seem real nice and genrouse (:

  • Eric, thank you for sharing this part of yourself with us. When you and other young people whose brains and bodies work differently speak up like this you remind us of our own humanity. Stay strong!

  • Thanks for that beautiful inspiration and bless you.

  • So precious!

  • Eric, Thanks for sharing. I believe that there is always hope for change because a) the brain is very plastic and can be rewired. Did you know that parts of the brain that control certain functions, if they should become damaged, the function can be processed by other parts of the brain through training? b) There are amazing advances in science every day. We all feel less than perfect and abnormal in different ways, brother. That's good because it allows compassion for others to develop inside

  • Eric, you are a lot more "normal" than most of the people I know. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it.

  • Very courageous - and inspiring. So many people have so many different problems - and can learn from this example - to be the best they can be and make the most of what life has to offer...

  • It took a lot of courage to talk about yourself. You should be proud! I am! You put a smile on my face. :)

  • Pretty awesome. Tears ++. If people are talking about you behind your back, it's probably because they don't understand and are afraid. But yeah, I agree, our emotions tend to overblow things while our intellect knows differently. That feeling of being judged is powerful. Let it flow through you, becuase those whom judge have no time to love. It gets easier the older we get. Get good at listening to others. Your disabillity puts you in a rare position to be a wonderful force.

  • LOVE the video Eric, you may very well have helped another person (or many) by putting this out there!! You are perfect, because you are you <3

  • Comment removed

  • <3 Very inspirational! Sending you serious Kudos!

  • Hi Eric....let me start by saying you have an awesome smile!!! :) My brother has this same disorder. He had his struggles and many surgery's. He is now in his mid 30's and wants to educate children on this disorder, because it is confusing to kids. One thing to remember....what is normal? Society has classified a look as normal, but not everyone feels this way. What you were born with, makes you shine! Never feel any less. My brother has accomplished more in his life than I have....Keep Smiling.

  • you are "perfect" and "normal" everyone has challenges an that doesnt mean u are not normal. You seem like you are a sweet person with a big heart an a lot of so called "normal" people do not have those qualities so I would say the world is quite blessed to have you just as you are!!! :-)

  • you are normal....you have a condition but let me tell you....didnt experience anything abnormal about you....perfectly imperfect...there is no truth to tell...you are wonderfully you. If people talk, let em, I say I must be somethin else if people have nothing better to do than talk about me. I grew up in an alcoholic home and have struggled with it myself throughout my life and let me say this....you have the heart of a lion....take care brother

  • Thanks for sharing :) It is brave of you and I am delighted to meet you. All of us a challenge of some sort, I have a destroyed knee, but I amaze people with power walking and moving heavy things around with body mechanics techniques... Your mind can prove all things possible. Yeah!

  • simply put ! amazing truth to life so full of amazing accomplishments! God Bless!

  • You're A Very Strong Guy & Im Sure Life Will Bring You Many Smiles (:

Dont Let Wat Other Ignorant People Say Get To You The ONLY Opinion That

Matters Is Yours . Good Job Posting This Video It Made Me Think Twice About

Wat I Tell Other People. You're A Great Inspireration & Honestly I Look Up To You.

I Hope God Brings You Nothing But The Best To Your Life You Deserve It(:

  • HI Eric, this is Ariel (Olivia's friend) my dad has C.P. too. but unfortunetly it was the docter's fault because during his birth they messed up his spine and had to go through therapy for many years... Luckly now he's doing great, even with a few C.P. problems. He raised 2 children and has a really cool job... He tought us very well and that not all defects are bad.... THNX for posting your video :) hope to see you again!

  • Eric this is charlie from elementary n middle school... im proud of you for making this video bro n but not proud tht our paths have part n we went to separate high schools..we need to hang out soon

  • Eric, My mom had Cerebal Palsy and she was a very strong woman. She raised two kids by herself for five years. I know other kids did not understand why she was different. Thanks for posting this on youtube. She taught me to be the best I can. I remind myself of this often. Thanks again

  • Eric, I work with the Paralympic soccer team which is made up primarily of guys with CP. Just like you, they are an awesome and normal group of guys. Have you played any soccer at all? Even if you haven't, let me know if you'd be interested in coming out to see the guys play and hang out a bit. I think they have all benefited by getting to know other guys who have CP. We train at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista....give me a call if you want to come out. 619.656.1500. And check ou

  • Great video Eric, loved it x

  • What is "Normal" or "perfect"? In my opinion there is no such thing as peoples opinion differ. Everyone strives to be seen as normal or perfect but they all face their own struggles and demons. Some people's struggles are bigger than others and take a lot of courage to face them - like you Eric! What's important is the journey and surrounding yourself with good people who support you and help you achieve your goals.

  • Eric bro, trust me normal doesn't mean anything in this world. What you are is a brave person who pulls through, actually your right, your not normal because your better than most of us.

  • Eric, you are a strong guy. Your video made me cry with happiest. I know exactly how you feel and felt when you made this video because I also have CP. And with some of things that you think when you walk around thinking people might be talking about you when yet you know they are not..i also get those feeling. I wish I could get to know you more because I haven't met anyone that hasve the same thoughts or feelingI get but you are strong for saying the true and being proud for who are you! :)

  • This is very moving and powerful Eric thank you for making this message. Takes alot of Courage.

How can anyone dislike this Video seriously

  • Hi Eric. My name is Brooke. I am 8 years old and I watched this video with my mom. I wanted to tell you how it made me feel. Your story is very touching. Thank you for telling me about your life. I am glad you have a great life and that you are happy. You helped me to look at this different. When I see someone that has something wrong, now I can know what it feels like. Thank you very much. I am going to pray for you to always be happy. Love, Brooke

  • keeping moving forward dude.

  • Eric You ARE perfect already, God knows what He's doing and you are just big enough to be so special! Don't you ever forget it. You are going to go far! You have the gift of encouragement! You will be a blessing to so many... you already are! :-)

  • Hi Eric. I saw you on the news the other day as I was running out the door to work. The song caught my attention and than your smile as you were being interviewed really caught my attention. I have been thinking about you and your bravery for a few days and finally found this video on YouTube. I hope you know what a wonderful young man you are and you have inspired thousands... 69,766 thousand and counting. Thank you for your bravery. I think you are AMAZING. Mom... you should be very proud!!

  • Keep on educating and inspiring, Eric. You are a bright shining light! I can tell you are on your way to big, bright future! :)

  • Eric, you are normal. I have twin grandsons with CP. They have trouble walking but they do the same things any "normal" 7 yr old would do. My fear is that they will be bullied at some point by someone who doesn't understand. More people in this world need to understand what CP is. You are making educating those people and hopefully others won't suffer because of your courage. You are NORMAL and a true inspiration! I hope your dreams come true.

  • I'm sending you hugs. You're a brave man. Love and blessings.

  • I think of the glass as half full and im gonna say the 11 people that disliked it, did it on accident... Respect!

  • Hey Eric, great job on your video Don't worry about things my son has cp, he's in a wheelchair and he's in his 3rd year of collage.....Go along and try your best, be your best. Thats all any of us can do.

  • OMGOSH YOU ARE AWESOME! SERIOUSLY YOU ARE! I hope and pray one of my 4 boys have the courage and strength that u have. Wished i could have it as well :)

  • Hi Eric. You are a very brave kid! A lot of people don't understand these conditions and they are quick to judge. I have two children and one of them has ADHD which is not like what you have but all through his elementary years, he was pinpointed as a "bad" kid and that made me very sad for him to go through that. But once again, no one understood him. Thank you for this video. You're awesome!

  • Eric, You are an awesome person, your a good looking guy, you have a great smile, and YES you are an inspiration!!! Dream your dreams and reach for the STARS! : )

  • You are wise beyond your years...and you have a beautiful smile. :) God Bless.

  • We are ALL created in God's imagine, we all are more than perfect in this world.

  • 11 people doesn't care about others. Let's say: Screw them.

  • Eric, you are far beyond normal and in actuality, a perfectly amazing HUMAN being. Thanks for your inspiration, I will use this in my life everyday

  • YOU are what hope for the future is all about! You make my heart smile. Thank you, Eric.

  • wow i just want to say thank you :) i have cp as well and went through the exact same thing you have :)

  • "normal" is highly OVERRATED! your CP will challenge you and give you insight that no one else will ever have. you are beautiful just as you are.

  • I AM PROAD OF YOU !!!

  • DUDE! YOU ROCK!

    FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!

You are fearfully and wonderfully made, that means that you were made with reverance, and delight! Enjoy that in yourself. Excel, and grow in wisdom and maturity. Let the haters hate and be msierable, but keep loving all you can!

  • Eric, God has put on this earth with the issues you have for a purpose. It looks to me like you have found a great way to try to bring out the fact that you are a normal kid with a serious ailment and you did a fine job with your video to try to explain it to people. Stay strong and live your life and if people can't handle the truth then they were never really a friend in the first place and you don't need them in your life. And don't be sad because you will be an inspiation for someone else.

  • good!! as a mom with "special needs" kids, I applaud you!! Everyone IS "normal" in their own way...Never let a disability or disorder of any kind define WHO you are!

  • i dont like to see u sad if ur sad it makes em saaad but when ur happy im happy ;)

  • never for get that ur the best!! ;) ;D

  • You are such a strong person. I work at a school with kids that have special needs. In our eyes you are normal. The "normal" kids love to interact with all the kids with special needs. I have Bell's Palsy, I always feel that people look at me diferently. Thanks for sharing :)

  • oh 1 more thing ur smile is the greatest ;) ;D

  • saw you on kusi 68,912 you have touched people by being so brave i wish more people were like you and saw the good things in people not the bad- 13,yr old mariah

  • You are an amazing person :) never forget that

  • Saw you on the news this morning! I think you're awesome! :)

  • ;D ;)

  • wow ur u awesome i think i would be ur friend if i saw u man ur the coolest :) :) Eric ur the best kid ever even if people makefun i wouldent cause ur the nicest guy ever :) U R EPIC ERIC! the best :D :D

  • i was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 10. i grew up in a small town in WV. Not accepting or forgiving of different. I am now so many things they told me I cold not be, A MOM, and ICU RN..the point is GOOD FOR YOU! LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE! you will be able to make great strides for people with CP. this was wonderful. i dont know you but i am proud of you. everything makes you who you are.

  • :))) You are awesome. You have a strong heart and are a strong person. Keep on Smiling cause you have a great one.

  • My Mom has CP as well and she is as normal as they come. Hers it a bit more severe than yours but she doesn't need any help from anyone. Don't ever think less of yourself and keep on trucking dude

  • Eric, you are normal, everyone else is different.

  • Omg, I LOVE HIM!! What a fantastically GORGEOUS smile he showed at the end!!!

  • "True courage is not the absence of fear—but the willingness to proceed in spite of it"

I've seen you around school. You're very brave for sharing this; I'm glad you did. You have touched so many, including me.

    -Juliana Clark

  • Dear Eric,

Thank you for sharing your truth with us. Such a courageous step makes it easier for everyone else to share their truth, gives us permission. How you did this, with written words is original and has an even greater impact, with the words being sung along with it all: your expression, the emotions in your face, everything. You have shared a great gift with us and I, for one, am grateful to you.

Many blessings and big smiles to you,

    Riesah Prock

  • Wow pretty powerful!

  • Bravo, Eric! I know it must have been difficult for you to decide to do this. How brave you are for finally confronting your fears and going for it! I hope you know that there are many people out will be touched by your message. I send you big hugs from Georgia!

  • stay strong

  • Thanks, Eric, for wanting to share. It's nice to know we all need each other. Here, at the other side of the screen, you find many of us dealing with our own difficulties, and wanting to share yours. Maybe it's true we are all One, at some level. We are not alone. Big hug.

  • You are very inspirational for one so young. Your message is true and so meaningful - thank you!

  • Good for you! That was beautiful! I almost never listen to these posts, but something about this one (you) touched me. Thank you!

  • You are awesome. I coach at Monte Vista, when my team comes to SCHS in a couple months, you should say hi, my girls would be thrilled to meet you. I'm proud you're from my neighborhood!

  • You are an inspiration. I love this video sooo much. Thank you for sharing your story and spreading awareness of cerebral palsy. You seem like such an amazing person and thats obvious in this video. I'm sorry that people take their own insecurities out on you;its horrible. My little bro & sis go to Steele Canyon as well and the things she's told me about how mean the kids are, breaks my heart. Well those kids can suck it cause they will get NO WHERE in life being that way. Keep on rockin kid <3

  • The only advice I can give you is the advice you gave to us: "Be happy for who you are and be the best you can be". You're a fine young man...good luck!

  • Yo boss man keep thinking positive bro. Thats all people like u n i can do. Cuz as soon as we think neg. Everything seems fucked up. And dnt swet the talking behind yo back cuz there aways will be ignorant people out there. One thing i learned and ima share wit u is. U cant please everyone so please urself.

  • Nice Video! :-)

  • Eric, my best childhood friend has cerebral palsy , I am glad to see that I am not the only one out there making a voice for those with your same disability. Keep fighting for what you believe in because one day you will change the world.

  • Hey Eric, your "one day" is here. Your video has touched, inspired and helped THOUSANDS of SOMEONES! Nice job and keep on being you.

  • Eric, thank you for sharing your story. You have a great smile, too!

  • My daughter was born at 25 weeks weighing only 1 pound. After 4 months in the hospital she came home. She is now almost 2 years old and just about to start walking. We are waiting for her to begin walking to see if she has cerebral palsy too. If she does she will be mild like yourself. I loved this video Eric. I feel very proud of you. Thank you for sharing this! Xoxo. Liz, San Diego CA

  • I love the message and I thank you for sharing this. I do not have cerebral palsy, but I do have a heart condition and have had multiple open heart surgeries, and I have a scar on my chest, so people at school ask and stare sometimes. Sometimes it makes me feel abnormal, but it also reminds me that Ive been through wat some people havent, and it makes me feel blessed and humble because I kno that hbeacuse of it i am strong. and you are strong too:)

  • Hi Eric, My name is Rachel and I am commenting from my boyfriend's YouTube profile. You are not the only one. My little sister Bekah has cerebral palsy. She is 12 years old and she has to be the strongest person I know. She struggles with fitting in but she still keeps her head up, just like you! Thank you for uploading this video. Stay strong!!

  • You Are Strong!!!!!!!!

  • Everyone is" NORMAL" just the way we are. Opinions only count if we let them.

  • LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE!!!!!!

  • There is no such thing as normal; It is simply a matter of opinion. Thank you for sharing =)

  • Eric, Thank you for raising awareness! SHARING.... ;-)

  • Dude, hang in there! Very moving video, and I will share with all I know. I have two kids, and I hope they grow up with the courage you display!!

  • Eric you are perfect as you are made. Perfection is in the heart. Love you.

  • Thank you for inspiring me and helping me to appreciate the wonderful things God has given me. I will pray for you and believe for your health. Your mind is so strong and you are a fantastic creation. Never desire to be like anyone else, if you really knew them you wouldnt want to be like them.

  • Thanks for sharing, my 20 month old daughter has CP and will never be as high functioning as you are but pray she will be able to communicate as eloquently. Sometimes it is a price you pay for the strength of surviving. Besides, "Normal" isn't that interesting!

  • Eric, we talk a lot about 'normal' in my TBI group (we're people who have had 1 or more Traumatic Brain Injuries -- I've had 4, actually 4 is a pretty common number in our group). My heart goes out to you for what you deal with every day, and for the parts you only deal with on some days. What I notice the most about you in your great video is Your Smile. Your Smile shows you're not normal, you're special ! Thanks for sharing.

  • how beautiful you told your story. you seem like an awesome person and appreciate your sharing.

  • Thanks for posting this Eric! My son was diagnosed with CP when he was a baby. Many months later, we were thankful to find out that he did not have CP after all. I want you to know that I was surprised at the emotions I felt. I was disappointed, I was afraid, I had big plans for him. More importantly, I loved him even more deeply and was so grateful to have him whether if he had CP or not. I am sure your family feels the same way. You are special and your video moved me deeply. Great job!

  • Hi Eric, from North Carolina. I think you're perfect just the way God made you. I like your video. May your life be a wonderful picture of the beauty of God's children. Seems like it is to me.

  • Grandma Belaine would be very proud of you, Love Grandpa Gordon

  • Hi Eric, I really enjoyed your video and think it is neat you put it out. I guess a few people are perfect (but I really don't believe that) the most important thing is that you become the person you were meant to be and let your struggles in life make you more compassionate toward others. You have already shown courage by expressing yourself and letting people know who you are. I wish you lots of luck and love in your life.

  • very inspirational and just remember things like this only happen to the toughest people

  • you are adorable!

  • I just want you to know you made my nite. You are a special person you will do great things with your life as will i. stay strong and never let your head hang down. your a beautiful individual. Hugz and Kisses Love.....

  • Here's the story of a lady who healed her MS with nutrition. I find it interesting that your video and her video both came across my path within 24 hours of each other. I think I was meant to share it with you. Thank you for sharing your story. Your genuineness is comforting. Her video is here on You tube titled. TEDxIowaCity - Dr. Terry Wahls - Minding Your Mitochondria

  • Coming to terms with reality is very, very hard. In the end, however, if you don't do this, you can't do much with your life. You are courageous for doing this. Today, no one except your co-workers has to know you have cerebral palsy when you work. Your typewritten words look the same as anyone else's. Also, who knows what lays ahead ten years from now? Young man, each year brings forward new fruit of research.

  • What is normal. God created us all different for a reason. If everyone was the same, the world would b a very boring place!

  • Very brave...you are loved! :)

  • Eric, no one is normal and no one is perfect. How you see yourself is how others will see you. Be confident, continue to be strong and bold about who you are. You could help others do the same thing about themselves and their own personal health issues. KUDDOS on the clip! I know you must feel so much better now that you have accepted it. :)

  • Why in the world are there any Dislikes on this video?

  • BRAVO! Eric it is the people that think and say they are normal that are not! Our imperfects are the things that make us beautiful! And you are beautiful!

  • I hope my son (7 years) who has diabetes will grow up with the pride and courage you have in yourself. Noone is perfect, there is no 'normal'....we are who we are and everyone has issues in all forms. One day at a time....live a happy life!! all the best to you...

  • Hey, Eric, you ARE a normal guy - with cerebral palsy. Just like I'm a normal mom with a chemical imbalance, and my granddaughter is a normal toddler with a drooping eye.

P.S. Once you figure out what "normal" is, could you let me know? I've been trying to figure it out for 56 years.

    Sandy, Tyler, TX

  • Marry Me? hahah Dude you seem pretty legit and be proud of who you are. It took a lot of courage to tell people this :) I don't even know you but I'm proud of you!!

  • U live in SD

  • You are the greatest!!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont know what normal is, but I know you are pretty awesome

  • This is not a painful truth, it is just you. Be proud of who you are! I don't think that anyone is "normal", and you are probably closer than most people. Be yourself and always be strong. You are an inspiration to many and thank you for sharing your story. Best wishes to you! :)

  • What is normal? We are all special. Each of us has a uniqueness that separates us from everyone else. Celebrate your individuality! What is normal? You should not choose to be this.

  • I know a little girl with C.P. She is 12 yrs. old and is struggling with very mean children at school. I will have to make sure she sees this. Thank you for the inspiration! You are a God send!!!

  • Bro !

Your The Person I Look Up To ! :')

Stayy Strong , You Can Do Big Things In Life !<3

Dont Let No One Bring You Down , Much Love && Respect Bro !

    Thiss Video Iss Awsomee :]

  • Stay strong :)

  • YOU MAKE ME SMILE .. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! xx

  • I'm super proud of your courage. Thank you so much for posting this. My brother is mentally challenged and I've watched him suffer because people don't understand why he's different .. so instead of loving and accepting him for his differences .. they say cruel and mean things and treat him so poorly it breaks my heart. YOU ARE TAKING A STAND FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T .. I BELIEVE YOU HAVE A BIG FUTURE AHEAD OF YOU!!!! ------->> INDEED, WE ARE ALL THE SAME --- WE ALL BLEED RED. Never change .. xx

  • Thanks, you are blessed!! Angel in earth!!

  • Dude! I wish I had realized this more when I was your age or even younger - EVERYONE IS FLAWED!!! Some show it on the outside, others hide it away and think we can't see it, others do such a good job of hiding their pain that we dont even realize how much they are hurting.

The biggest part of success is DOING IT - you're doing it here - Your road to success will be short and sweet if you just keep delivering your self. KEEP IT UP!!

  • What a cutie pie with a wonderful heart! By the way... no one is perfect! :)

  • Don't worry, sweetheart, you are "normal" because even the most normal-looking people have problems too. You're doing better than "normal" cause you are brave and honest. Thank you! :)

  • Eric - Thank you for putting a big smile on my face this morning! (... and, since you're being honest, so will I -- the smile came AFTER the tears) -- you're a wonderful young man! May God bless you abundantly as you strive to attain your goals in life! ..."liked" and "shared" ;o)

  • Your* best*
