@Sillyjake86 Can Google it :), however, essentially the Sanshin is the Okinawan instrument, and Shamisen the Japanese one. There are differences in the way it is made, with the most obvious difference being the Okinawan base is covered with snake skin, and Japanese base with cat or dog skin I believe.
Hi Traci, it's Jim. I know... I'm 2 yrs late with my comments here but I just figured out how to post on you tube. I don't know why but I just love this and listen to it over & over. Your voice is exquisite. or maybe it has something to do with that Okinawan banjo you are playing. Dont know what kind of Texan that makes me a finely cultured one I guess :)
Are those birds I hear in the audience? (OK, enough with the bird remarks. This is the last one; I promise.)
Wow. Your shansin playiing reminds me of my mother's. She also played koto. Her name was Reiko. You have her same spirit with lots of beauty and love. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
Thank you for your question. Yes, it's possible. We'll have to pull up that file, convert, etc. We'll let you know when we've been able work on and post it. Maybe by then we'll also have another version of the song.
I think it's awesome that people still perform this kind of Ryukyu Shamisen. ウドュルチャッサー!

What's the difference between Shamisen, and the Sanshin? It seems like the Shanmisen has a louder and cleaner sound then the Sanshin?
