  • I like this. Especially the transplanted section.

  • I thought something was off at first (having not yet noticed that this wasn't the original until I read the description), but when it hit the transplanted part, it sounds great.

  • In soviet russia GAME OWNS YOU

  • FM synthesis OWNS YOUR FACE.

  • WERRY GOOD!!!!!

  • it's a remix of a remix...awesome

  • portrait of ruin is good BUT BLOODLINES OWN

  • Bloodlines will always be a better game than Portrait of Ruin, simply because the protagonists aren't annoying anime teenagers.

  • Awesome video, love the song, but I'm confused here... The music for a genesis game came from a ds game? That's what it sounds like when you say "from Portrait of Ruin to Bloodlines." It's confusing the hell out of me, anyone care to explain?

  • @Wuzzup222 The guy's an idiot, that music came from Bloodlines, the Genesis game, and was later remixed and put into Portrait of Ruin, the DS game.

  • @Wuzzup222 The song is originally from Bloodlines, but the DS version added a section to the song. This is the video poster's version of what it would be like if that added section was in the Bloodlines version, too.

  • It's too bad that both John Morris and Eric Lecarde both end up dying...

John Morris being killed by the whip since he wasn't a full blood Belmont,

and Eric Lecarde was later killed by Brauner...how tragic, huh?

My favorite game of the series, definately.

  • This is Yesterdays News' i Own this Game on my Computer.

  • @ogithreturns

So do I...but I still have the original cartridge for my Genesis, which also still works. Classics never die, bud. Besides, for all the gamers who've gotten used to the current-gen games, retro stuff like this IS news.

I don't care what they come out with next for ANY system...nothing will ever beat old school 8-bit or 16-bit.

  • @NeverMind0133 I agree 100% The 16-bit era was gamings finest hour IMO. My memories of playing the SNES and Genesis as a kid are extremely precious to me and I still spend my of time playing 16-bit and 8-bit classics on Virtual Console. That's not to say all of the newer stuff is crap, but most it just doesn't do much for me.

  • Bloodlines is totally my favorite "linear" Castlevania.

  • Morris is going to suffer from serious steroid abuse issues...

  • thats john morris right?

  • Epic, omg pure vampire killing THEME!

  • Do Castlevania phans like Phantonn of the Opera?

  • again, nice work. but it's too bad about the recording, everything sounds a bit muffled.

  • They should remake bloodlines for psp

  • definately, but in 2D, not that 3D crap

  • Ditto

  • @VoidKeeper

i wouldnt mind if it was similar to dracula x chronicles, 3d, but a side scroller.

  • @TheNumberNone that would be EPIC!

  • @TheNumberNone WITH 8 DIRECTIONS PLEASE!

  • Because it becomes more and more itself the older it gets...

  • the best game of castlvania i have ever played

  • This game DID kick mucho ass, but I liked Symphony of the Night best, personally. I don't think this game got enough recognition or that many people even played it, since most Castlevania games are on Nintendo...

  • This sounds excellent, considering it actually is the POR version of Iron Blue Intention transplanted to the Genesis sound chip. Outstanding!

  • Another classic! Superb.

  • screw you, Castlevania 4 was one of the best games in the Series.

  • chi no rondo and simphony of the night dude!

  • I know that, but that dude is makin fun of 4, i grew up with that game

  • i wasn't making fun of it! i was only saying i think the best belmont is richter...

  • Oh crap, that was you? There really isn't a better belmont xD

  • mmm maybe that is true...

  • Agreed, it was really good.

  • Ah, the German weapon factory.

  • Shame that eric died this f***ing early. His theme (IBI) rocks!!! Ah well this epic. I'm never tired of hearing this over 10 times a day NON-STOP. Its cool, so is Eric

  • Great music!

  • I actually like this version more than the PoR one, not that it was bad though =]

  • About the only track I liked on this game was the Boss music. The rest of it was meh... I liked the game though.

  • I love both versions of the song.

  • There's a third one now that Judgment is out.

  • The Sega Genesis has got a completly underrated sound chip just because the voices in street fighter sounded really bad compared to the arcade or super nintendo.

  • No, it actually was inferior to the SNES. It was using FM Synthesis as opposed to the hardware in Sony's chips. If they could do good things with it, then stuff like this happened.

  • Yeah i know, technically the SPC700 of the super nintendo is farly superior to the genesis and i absolutly love the sound it produce because the SNES was the console of my childhood.

What i was trying to say in my last message was that too many people directly says that the sound of the Genesis sucks just because the voices in sf2 sounds horrible. It's technically inferior to SNES but that doesn't mean you can't make anything better with FM.

  • Not even the Super Nintendo could make the voices of SF2 sound good, and that could also just be a result of faulty programming.

However, you do have to admit that the Genesis did sound very metallic and harsh compared to the SNES.

  • Actually the super nintendo could have made the voice on SF2 sound perfect, the only obstacle was the cartridge size which was 2 MegaBytes so they had to compress the voices, that's the reason why the voices on SNES sf2 sound so muffled.

I agree with you the Genesis has a metallic and harsh sound which is not very good to reproduce some type of music like orchestral music. However, some games like Thunder Force 4 is the perfect example of how you can make FM sound awesome.

  • If you wanted an arcady sound, then you would go for the Genesis, but as a result of the sound chip, then it was almost impossible to make a good RPG with it, unless your name was Phantasy Star.

  • hard

    game

    is

    fucking

    hard

  • I hear ya...but I still managed to beat it a few times!

  • Oh, yeah, if you wanted strings you were out of luck.

However you might want to include Shining Force I and II in your calculations.

  • I think the problem with the Genesis sound chip is that it had a little too much of the same thing. With the exception of the PSG chip and the channel 6's DAC mode, it only relied on frequency modulation. It didn't even let you select between a square or a triangle or a sawtooth wave to be frequency modulated, you were stuck with just sine waves and a whole lot of them.

  • If it only let you choose between waveforms and let you choose other alternative kinds of modulation such as amplitude modulation and pulse width modulation, developers could've had an easier time finding new creative sounding tones.

  • BTW, I'm currently working on creating my own synth chip. It will have 3 FM PWM/square channels, 1 noise channel, and 4 PCM channels, all channels can apply reverberation. I'm getting my xgamestation soon, and I might be able to create my chip with it. I'll post it here if I get done.

  • I think the only three FM synthesizers that allowed use of other types of waveforms (including Square Wave) were the TX-81Z (rackmount 8-voice external), YM-3812 (OPL2, only had four waveforms and two operators), and the YMF-262 (OPL3, 4-op, 20-channel/voice, and had the TX-81Z's eight waveforms, also OPL2 and OPL3 could do Additive and FM synthesis).

Shame that the truly-powerful synths like the OPL2 and OPL3 rarely got full utilization.

  • the orginal.

  • That was the Best Music on Castlevania bloodlines I beat the Game on Expert mode that was on my best Sega games i played

  • This is one of the best tracks in the series... I wish someone would do an aranged version of it!!

  • there is one, but its not so similar, search for "dracula perfect battle selection - iron blue intention"

  • i love this classic game , level 4 music

  • german weapon factory music :) my favorite in bloodlines

  • I know. It was such a cool stage.

  • who thumbed my comment down? it's a music from bloodlines too. and it's my favorite in bloodlines too? what's wrong in this?

  • How do you Transplant Music?

  • Sorry that I asked...

  • i heard the meain charater in bloodlines isnt even a belmont but he has vampirekiller. that whip is only passed down between genrations of the belmont family how did he get it?

  • It was predicted that the Belmonts weren't to wield it until Julius in 1999. The Belmonts gave it to the Morrises for safe keeping.

  • thanks dude im no longer confused

  • All this time I thought they'd had a girl and ended up losing their family name. Where'd you get the info? The game? ( Asking because I haven't played anything after Aria of Sorrow. )

  • Yeah, I got the info from the games. I've kinda studied these. I have no life =p.

  • Pfft, who needs A life when you've got 99?

  • in actuality

After Alucard Beat Dracula in SotN The belmonts passed the whip down to the morris clan

However the real motive behind this is unclear

And the whip eventually makes it back to the belmonts

    (so sayeth the game makers)

  • dude the main charater looks like the kid from full metal alcamist

  • Wow, you're right, he does!

  • all we need know is the big armored dude

  • You can play as old axe armor once you beat the game. Though I think it's actually a girl inside.

  • No. I'd say it's Johnathan Inside. The Axe Armor makes the same sounds as him, so...

  • What?

  • does anyone have the WHOLE SOUNDTRACK?!?!?!

  • Ya I do. the ost right?

  • yes please, everyone has a soundtrack for every Castlevania but this one and i think this is one of the best ones, i would greatly appreciate it.

  • Bloodlines didn't get a standalone OST release; it's on Disc 2 of the Dracula X OST. Look for "Dracula X" or "Akumajo Dracula X."

  • Not bad, but the oringinal is much better. Much more haunting for some reason. This is the music for the first half of the 4th level "Munitions factory, Germany". This game got such little credit for how amazing it was.

  • Nice, but it's not Castlevania Bloodlines. The version I have sounds a bit different.

  • Nice, but it's not Castlevania Bloodlines. The version I have sounds a bit different.

  • Pretty cool, did you make this in the TFM or MVS trackers? I think you could make it even better by lowering the bass slightly and experimenting a bit with that instrument at 2:12 which sounded a bit harsh to me.

  • It's the actual game music from Castlevania - Bloodlines.

  • no it's not.

  • My bad then. The opening sequence sounds quite similar, but then the final seconds are from PoR (which is niiice *0*)

  • iron blue intention is one of my favorite tracks

  • genesis songs r amazing.. its what made the games good lol.. why do you think sonic is so awesome? because of its awesome music!

  • it's true what was said earlier bout the sound system on Genesis/MegaDrive. another absolutely stunning soundtrack of the system is w/out a doubt "lightning force(thunderforce4), especially the bosses. if yer lucky 'nuff to hear those...!

  • The Genesis never had bad sound quality. Primitive, yes, but by that perspective, everything before the Xbox/Ps2/GC age had horrible sound quality because they couldn't have the quality that we have nowadays.

The Genesis just had limitations, and if it were not for these limitations, we wouldn't have memorable songs such as this one, Green Hill in Sonic 1, Flying Battery in Sonic 3K, and so on and so on..

  • Seriously, Even though the Megadrive had fucking bad sound quality, this version of Iron Blue Intention always catch me up more than the DS PoR version.

  • Yeah. The only truly great music I heard on the Genesis was the MUSHA soundtrack, and everythying done by Yuzo Koshiro. But wait, who could forget the Skitchin' soundtrack. The actual game fucking sucked, though

  • I liked this version better too.

  • From GENESIS Castlevania BLOODLINES

To NDS Castlevania Portrait of Ruin!!!

  • one of my fav cv songs :D but not my fav

  • I think I still like the original Genesis version better.

    Still, this does sound great.

  • DS version sucks at bass

  • Yeah, but I think it makes up for it with overall quality.

  • Remixing the best of both worlds. Fantastic.

  • Love This song and the game Rocks

  • The Morris' :3
