I found a interpretation that works for myself.

Somebody close to you is drifting away, slowly killing him / herself through drugs or another way, maybe you can't see it because he / she is always hiding it (you can't see him / her falling) but you feel he / she needs help and try your best (let me lead you by the hand you don't want to go there) but in the end all is in vain and the choices they've made caught up with them (the black hooded figure).

I always thought that the train represents life, as you see different people take different paths or trains in life. The train travel could also represent a bad trip. The girl likes to party, drugs (as ian Brown) and stays up late, but some day that lifestyle catches up to her. She can't stay young forever. The tape in her walkman shows that partytime is over. She can't get off where she wanted. Life is unpredictable and time (the dark figure) will eventually catch up on you.

I always thought of it as : a girl having a sober moment with herself while she's traveling home on a late night out. You put too much thought into it, but of cource it all depends on your own frame of mind at the time youre watching it.

To me, this video represents the loneliness I feel when nothing can keep me busy/entertained/focused and there is this noise that feels the gap, which is like a polutant to the mind.

And then the bloody tape jams in the walkman..
