  • OMG!!! thats CREEPY! i dont know if i like this.

  • This video seems a lot freakier if you've seen "Midnight Meat Train".

  • i colud say anything about the meaning of this video, i could really say lots of things, but all i'm gonna say now is I FUCKING LIKE THIS VIDEO and i will always like it

  • I found a interpretation that works for myself.

Somebody close to you is drifting away, slowly killing him / herself through drugs or another way, maybe you can't see it because he / she is always hiding it (you can't see him / her falling) but you feel he / she needs help and try your best (let me lead you by the hand you don't want to go there) but in the end all is in vain and the choices they've made caught up with them (the black hooded figure).

  • That chick is gorgeous! :) Love this song.

  • drogs? isn't that what they called the guys in Clockwork Orange?

  • "I found the way

    To get inside you

Id give you peace of mind"

    Is that about drogs?

  • frecky

  • This reminds me of the film 'Scream'.

  • @J03KAH why?

  • @jedaaa

Not the scream with the stupid mask guy, the other scream bassed in the london underground :p

  • It's really intresting 'cause first time i saw the video, I tought the big guys will kill or do anything with the girl 'cause they are wrong..., and at the second time when I saw the video, I couldn't imagine nothing bad about this guys... Awsome...

  • I remember this song, came out back in 1999. I love this song. I alway's fancied this girl in the video, i think she's beautiful.

  • .exelente cancion

  • Who's the girl ???

  • @mitchp85 no idea hey, looks familiar tho.

  • @mitchp85 Emma Griffiths Malin

  • i respect unkle and they changed my life, but, what doest U.N.K.L.E. stand for? what does it mean?

  • @COOPstercopter I dont think its actually an acronym,if you look at all the other songs it's written as a word whereas this is the only one where its put into acronym form.

  • qu que diferencia al hombre del animal? yo diria EL DESAPEGO

  • Timeless tune!

  • клипак мутный, но песня на высоте))) Unkle rulezzzz))

  • dobrej song

  • What about the ants and can? and her left outside the train i can connect everything else..

    ^_^

  • tarde o temprano te veré caer...

  • LOVE IT !!!

    n_n

  • her shoes rule, end of discussion

  • ♥

  • I think it is about her waisting her life. Simple. But that is just my way of seeing it.

  • This is eery. All that pseudocolor and forceful lyrics, like there's no escape from whatever threat. And the girl is pretty pretty btw ;)

  • if it's all about symbols then that's the way i see it

    the girl = anyone

    the trains = life paths

the guys in the beginning (the big bros) = parents or any other protectors

    the hooded figure = time

the tape = any activity that brings you joy but nothing else

if you think of it and watch the video everything makes total sense.

  • you say bye-bye to your parents - have no idea what to do further - decide to take a random train - have a feeling something's going wrong 'but fk it' - have nothing to do on the train so you just while away the hours - oops, you can not do this any more, the tape is jammed - you want to get off but it's too late - you start recalling the omens - still on the train doing nothing - Ian Brown wearing black robes reaches you - 70th anniversary.

  • @tipsywoodpecker You probably know that you can also look at an ink blot and interpret all kinds of things into it. That, too, will make "total sense". The way I always saw that video was that this girl was some lonely sunday morning disco party girl without any goal or purpose in life. And in the end, we see what the hooded guy ("time", why not) made out of her. An old wreck, a bum sleeping in trains, more dead than alive.

  • that's almost the same, isn't it?

you're right about the ink blot stuff, the video gives you the width of interpretation and that's why I love it so much. several years ago I saw it completely different but I wasn't at the station waiting for a train at those times.

  • neggers=drug dealers

  • @eugenic14 eugenicist=dream dealers but the reality is a nightmare...

  • @kosmopolitisch

    take it easy, klugscheisser

  • @eugenic14 Eugenicist are the perfect examples of klugscheissers... except their aim is to go beyond correcting the errors of others... they want to play God by eliminating the human who has to errored... in other words, nazi=klugscheisser=eugenicist

  • @kosmopolitisch

thank u for the crash course in eugenics. dont hesitate - write more stupid things that are in your mind. it will help you to free yourself. by writing and reading your stupid text you have chance to see recognise your stupidness. and then u can eventually do something about it, for example read some books or watch less tv.

;) wish u the best, dear unfriend

  • @eugenic14 Book: Passing of the Great Race written by Madison Grant. I will name more references if you would like... kind der liebes of false doctrine

  • @kosmopolitisch haha you're funny - by trying to say someone is a klugscheisser, you are being a klugscheisser haha

but I had to google klugscheissers to find out what it means, because I am American..- apparently it is slang for people who correct people.

  • @eugenic14 many white people in the drug dealing business, like the CIA back in the 80's, trafficking cocaine from south america... or the USA military bringing heroine on soldiers coffins from overseas... you gotta fucking wake up soon...

  • @iluvj00

so what? so the black dudes in the video sell candies or what? u write about completely different things. for example, the whole war in afganistan is about drug dealing... but u r wrong in thinking that global politics is made by "white people".

  • @iluvj00

Just 'cause you saw American Gangster doesn't mean you know shit.

Back in the 80s when the CIA were importing cocaine from south america? What the fuck are you talking about.

  • @BelfastAtheist :P ignorant fool... what do you think the usa goverment is doing in colombia, what do you think its doing in afghanistan. you are just another cyborg fed with this other parallel reality where these things CANT happen.

  • @iluvj00

The military and the army are two very different things. The army are burning opium plants they find (Afghanistans only crop) instead of what they usually do, make painkillers out of it. Why i'm arguing with some emo 12 year old virgin troll faggot I do not know. Go get a girlfriend!

  • @tipsywoodpecker Great interpretation of the Video but i still don't understand the Lyrics.. "I might see you falling, I don’t see you falling" what is meant with falling? falling in drugs, prostitution and so on? what about "falling beutifull" is it irony? and

"As I look into your eyes

    I pay no mind

    I found the way

    To get inside you

I’d give you peace of mind"

Sounds like sb. gaves the girl hard drugs and 'found the way to get inside her'..now he sees her falling but unkle call this 'be there'

  • @PaDDyOrPaDDi for me personally it's not falling into drugs or prostitution, it's falling inside yourself, seeing your real lousy self, dealing with it, then gaining peace... because that's what it takes to change the train. the experience is too frightening. that's why 'you dont wanna go there' but he can lead you by the hand. HOWEVER i'm quite sure the lyrics mean shit and he didn't put any sense in it :D

  • @tipsywoodpecker well that could be possible, too xD but probably the lyrics only make sence to it's writer .__. I think there is a story behind it we would have to know when we want to understand it ^^

  • @tipsywoodpecker Nice Interpretation but i stil don't understand the Lyrics.. 'I might see you falling, I don't see you falling' what's meant with 'falling' the falling in drugs and protestitution? then "falling beautifull" - is it irony? an whats about:

"As I look into your eyes

    I pay no mind

    I found the way

    To get inside you

I’d give you peace of mind"

Sounds like sb gaves her drugs and "found the way to get inside her" maybe drugs like heroin and now he sees her falling..but why it 'be there'

  • Cool Video!

  • Does anybody know what is the tube station she boarded the train...

    Thx

  • @cicconne Mornington Crescent.

  • How can you even tell?! They all look the same to me! :D

I swear, London town looks like a massive maze to me, I always lose my orientation there, underground, overground, and anywhere in between! :D

No wonder the residents of this city look like rats running around trying to get things done and at the same time keep their sanity.

    *sigh* Bless the countryside!

  • I'm thinking someone needs to ask the director of this video to give some clear and concise answers, we need answers! Love UNKLE!

  • I always thought that the train represents life, as you see different people take different paths or trains in life. The train travel could also represent a bad trip. The girl likes to party, drugs (as ian Brown) and stays up late, but some day that lifestyle catches up to her. She can't stay young forever. The tape in her walkman shows that partytime is over. She can't get off where she wanted. Life is unpredictable and time (the dark figure) will eventually catch up on you.

  • @WhiteyKnuckles

very well said!! I agree with ur version...

  • Cool, I ran out of letters, so let me just say that this is one of my all time favorite videos. Very simple, but adds so much to the music. This is the music video that has stayed in my head the longest :-)

  • A connected interpretation would lead to the fact that she is in no control of her life, passing blindly through it, without being able to take responsibilities upon herself and simply waiting for something to happen or for it (life/trip) to be over... (I thought about this when you said about the train representing life and her not being able to get off where she wanted...) (I'd like to read more opinions like yours on youtube, I think it's constructive :) and inspiring. Thank you for that.)

  • Thanks, I like what you added as well. I rarely comment on videos, but this one is special. Since you're asking I'd like to stay in the UNKLE universe and hear your interpretation on the Rabbit in your headlights video. :-)

  • I always thought of it as : a girl having a sober moment with herself while she's traveling home on a late night out. You put too much thought into it, but of cource it all depends on your own frame of mind at the time youre watching it.

To me, this video represents the loneliness I feel when nothing can keep me busy/entertained/focused and there is this noise that feels the gap, which is like a polutant to the mind.

And then the bloody tape jams in the walkman..

    you get the idea

  • @WhiteyKnuckles

yes, the most reasonable explanation I found, came here looking for it. great video

  • @WhiteyKnuckles Nice Interpretation but i still don't understand the Lyrics.. 'I might see you falling, I don't see you falling' what's meant with 'falling' the falling in drugs and protestitution? then "falling beautifull" - is it irony? an whats about:

    I pay no mind

Sounds like sb gaves her drugs and "found the way to get inside her" maybe drugs like heroin and now he sees her falling..but why it 'be there'

  • bad quality

  • ...at least some quality...there is no other uncle be there video posted on yt...

  • @cicconne

    there is check my page

  • Ian Brown is the best.

  • well the way I see it is that the old lady represents how she looks on the inside

  • Why she's so old at the end?

    Look at 2:15.

    Maybe she's that figure.

She runs away from it. But then she can't leave the train and she's transforming to this figure.

But I don't know the old lady is standing for. What she wants to represent..

(sorry for my english, i'm german)

  • A beautiful girl begins with friends and wealth. First her friends leave, then her money, and then her posetions. Finally bored she falls asleep, and a man comes by and, upon seeing her beauty, brushes her hair out of her face. He steals her beauty, and she wakes up old and alone, living amongst squalor.

I'm assuming that the man is Father Time/Grim Reaper or something along those lines. Although it could also be a rape scenario. The subway train represents the path of life she's chosen

  • note that she could have gotten off after losing each item, but foolishly stayed on the train. Her vanity has come full circle

  • she couldn't leave at 3:20

  • true, I noticed that after I wrote the comment. so it doesn't quite fit. but oh well xd

  • that could be pretty close,

though i don't know if any of the guy's in the beginning represent her friends.

    potential friends maybe.

    obviously they take another tube....

i somehow very doubt a rape scenario.

  • i highly doubt it too. but it's still a possibility.

  • MAYBE I CAN HELP YOU!!!!

  • its about a broken girl relying on material n physical access which has no soul and before she knows it time has caught up and she has nothing and noone

  • maybe thats what you get for littering on the subway

  • LOL !

  • You dont wanna go there

Let me lead you by the hand

    You dont wanna be there

Over the sea and down to land

As I look into your eyes

    I pay no mind

    I found the way

    To get inside you

Id give you peace of mind

  • Faust by Goethe

  • UNKLE like tunnels.

  • ...i'm sorry, but i don't get the video...could someone explain to me, what was going on? why is she so old at the end? and is somebody trying to stop her "falling"? why?...so many questions ^^...

  • Did you see the being at the station? It stole here buety and age or here clothes... You choos whatever comes to your mind. May be she made A pact with the devil or something to be young again. There are manny ideas to this one.

  • beatifull

  • coronation street, london

  • Enchanting .. *****

  • I must say I like the version without vocals better. Anyways, this is great too.

  • I don't see why people have given you a thumbs down for saying that. I think ian brown's great and this version is very good, but I prefer the album version with no lyrics as well... Hard to explain why - it's just purer if that makes any kind of sense. Maybe a bit less dark. Just a bit different mainly.

  • It's because most of the people on youtube can't stand another opinion than their own and instead of discussing they simple click thumbs-down.

    Internet Nazis so to speak

  • LOL what?

  • dungus is a tool.

  • mi angoscia tutto questo ma allo stesso tempo mi fa star bene

  • vero? è un tipo melodico molto particolare un distacco da quello di cui siamo abituati

  • foarte misto

  • and that they worked together with shadow everybody should know

  • Tim Goldsworthy was the other founding member

  • ian brown and james lavelle R unkle..nowa days

  • Simply-work of art!

  • shame that the video doesnt much the greatness of the track. besides the ending which is supposedly surprising, its a pretty meaningless

    collection of vignettes.

  • U.N.K.L.E. and ian brown together.....ace!!!!

ian brown is a f***ing god

  • Great track and video. It´s got a certain rainy saturday morning nostalgic feel to it.
