I'm surprised that trains are allowed to travel at such high speeds through a station where there is no separate track for passing trains. Once somebody gets struck by a train, don't be surprised if there is a massive lawsuit and speed limits on the track consequently have to be reduced dramatically.
Amtrak rail service will never be important in the U.S. outside of a few selected corridors. Planes and cars fulfill the vast majority of our transportation needs, and will do so for years to come.
What station did you film at? This station is a small quiet one, only one agent, and there are usually no regional trains coming through around the time the acela's do, so the platforms are clear for you to film
I was riding in 2163 with engineer Dan. He told me he knew you were waiting so that is why the horn. By the time I got my camera out to shoot the station it was gone! We Both came back on 2170.
The problem is that this country is more geared to automobile and air traffic, so rail traffic is left to fend for the rest, which in this day and age isn't much. I was hoping Amtrak would seize the moment that Delta and American Airlines planes were grounded, but they didn't!
OMG, That is loud!!

If the high quality video is that loud you must have to squint your eyes and cover your ears then! I want to go there and see it :O!
I've seen the Acela like once, but at night driving to the Airport from NY, it was on the left side crossing a bridge, nothing compared to this ;).

Well yes, ok I was a bit exaggerated there.

U.S. Rail is lame. This is the only part of the corridor thats worth taping and riding.
sportsmovieman 3 years ago
Well the whole NEC is not nearly as lame as most of country.

Beautiful! If only the rest of the NEC had that speed limit!

They can use that for sure.
