The 05 legacy gt has an ej255 but is IDENTICAL cam specs, pistons, rods, everything to the ej257 the 06 wrx has a different ej255 but i don't know if it is the same as the 06 legacy gt or if the legacy maintained its special ej255.

So yes the momo shift knob and sti pedals are lame but engine wise... for some LGTs the only difference is the lgt has a crappy turbo and intake manifold.

Incorrect, they have the same short block. Look up the part numbers for 05-08 legacy and 04-07 sti, many of the part numbers are identical.

Only major difference is the manifold, turbo and intercooler setup.

Sure, I'd LOVE to have a supercar (preferably a gorgeous Maserati as everyone is rocking Lambo's and Ferrari's or a Bentley would be nice) but if I wanted a fast car, I'd just drop about 15-20k into an STI and make it a full track car and have another cheaper car that I insure =)

The way I see it, I'd rather buy a house and some land rather than an expensive car. (unless I can have both haha)

I think what I'm going to do is sell my WRX, get a cheap beater for my 60 minute commute times each day and then buy an 93-95 RX-7 and drop in an LS3.

Keep the track-RX7 in storage when not in use, rock the beater. (I'm thinking a late 90's legacy or 2.5RS...gotta stay in the subaru family!)

Sidomo... I like your style but you are a bit misinformed. An '05 WRX STI has a curb weight of around 3270lbs. The LGT (not limited) weighs in at 3390. Considering the LGT has a longer wheelbase and a wider wheelbase, it's really, hardly a fair trade in favor of the LGT.

There is a reason that the new WRX/STI has a wider, longer wheelbase - IT IS BUILT ON THE LGT FRAME!

Either because it is far superior or because us fat Americans can't fit our asses into STI seats (thats a joke, mostly!)

This is my 5th Subaru; I owned a Legacy (used '90 wagon, automatic - green), '95 Legacy Outback (almost new 1995 sedan, automatic - white/grey), WRX (new '01 sedan, automatic - yellow), WRX STI (new '04, purchased in '03 - black on black), a Legacy GT ('06 purchased bran new in '05 - dark blue) Lilbitch asked "WHAT IS THE FASTEST KIND OF SUBARU" and it is DEFINATELY NOT A STI unless you are talking STOCK only.

Our first Subaru was a red 1985 GL station wagon, which lasted us until 1998, but when we gave it away, we already had number two: a green 1995 Legacy L wagon. The funny thing is... My Mother drives a Black STI and her partner (dad died, she is not remarried yet) drives a Legacy Outback Wagon (considering a new Forrester).

I also have a 2000 Dodge Durango 4x2slt tow vehicle and a old Toyota 4x4 (solid axle, locking hub!). When the Durango is done I will get a Forrester XT.

Actually I *LOVE* the NEW Forester. When I replace my Durango, I may replace it with a Forester XT. Whats not to love? Check out the Forester XT vs. WRX shootout that 5th gear did. Youtube it

The only problem I have with the Forester vs the Durango is that my 5.9L Durango will tow 7000lbs and no Subaru will come close to that. (I have a boat on a trailer and a trailer of tools for work that both need to be towed. The boat a subie can tow but not the 5000lbs of tools, gear and trailer).

The fastest kind of subaru? Probaby a "Prodrive" depending on what you mean. Possibly a "ESX". Definately not a stock WRX. I find the 2.5T more enjoyable than the 3.0 non turbo. Have driven them both. Very similar powerband actually. Want a really fast Subie, get a H6 3.0 and twin turbo it.
