ok thanks i think i got it all figured out now if i used the trigger gaurd i found online it wouldnt change the mag catch so ill have to use the one you did thank you for the help though i appreciate it
theres also a product out there that has a pistol grip nut inculded into the trigger gaurd its made for doing these converions but there pretty vauge on it id post it but i can for some reason do you think something like that will work?
@markfiasconaro Norinco Hunters had a few configurations. Mine had a sliding mag catch, not a pivoting catch like Saigas and AKs. If yours has a sliding catch, you will need probably need an AK-style catch, which are usually found on military trigger guards. Milled AKs have a separate mounting piece for the pistol grip that's riveted to the bottom of the receiver. I don't know if Galils do as well, but it would have interfered with my Ace receiver block, which requires an AKM pistol grip nut
i guess ishould have asked the question differently i knew that the hole you cut out was for the pistol grip i just didnt know if you made a nut work or if the pistiol grip came with one or ect.
@markfiasconaro I think the pistol grip nut and bolt are from Tapco. In my experience the pistol grip nuts are not sold with the grips themselves but are frequently paired with pistol grip bolts. To further confuse things, some pistol grips, usually those that do not use standard pistol grip bolts (e.g.Hogue Overmolded, Tapco SAW-style), are sold with pistol grip bolts specifically for that particular grip.
i understand how you moved the trigger guard and trigger but i dont understand how you attached the pistil grip? and did the tapco hand gaurd come with the retainer?
@markfiasconaro At about 4:54 I start cutting the bottom of the receiver between four holes I drilled earlier. The square hole I'm left with at 6:10 is what the AKM pistol grip nut passes through to attach to the pistol grip screw.
The Saiga version of the Tapco Galil-style handguard comes with a clamp-on retainer. The AK version does not have one of these retainers and must use the one already on the rifle. The retainer that came with mine can be seen in position at 2:55.
surplus-addict from SRF here- I think that those threaded inserts are threaded pillars, kinda like the pillars you use when pillar bedding a stock, just threaded. Don't quote me on that though, just guessing here.
Great vid as always doc

mightve been a good idea to use lock tight on those screws but looks good so far
