So sad to hear about Mr. Allingham. A true loss to the world, and to history. Seems so fitting that Harry Patch, the last Tommy, would be the last. When we think of WWI, we almost always think of trench warfare and the Tommy in the trench. Now that Mr. Patch is all that is left, we must take special care to hear his story and remember. God bless you, Mr. Allingham, and thank you.
R.I.P Henry. You , and all that fought in the great war are truly, Britains Greatest Hero's. Im studying WW1 at College. When ever I have a History Lesson, I shall think of you and all .
Well, it is clear that his quest is ending, now the major task for all of us is to save the history for youngsters who dont want to know anything about anything and slowly fall into the world of online games, pornography, light drugs and endless mindless funfun
I've been following Henry's life story for a few years. It saddens me to see that he's getting closer and closer to the grand finale of his life, but what a life he lived! I hope he continues on to see, at least, the centennial anniversary, but I won't be surprised, certainly, if he doesn't make it. God bless you, Henry. And thank you.
The poor bloke. He's deteriorated more in the past six months or so than you could ever have imagined. Lively, happy, jokey chap to almost vegetable slumped in his chair.
I think he's truly beginning to act his age now, and what a shame that is. Maybe not act his age...turn into his age.
But whatever his condition, that's another honour for him and I'm sure he's absolutely chuffed with it. Good on you, Mr Allingham.
The only WWI vetran alive today is Frank Buckles

I think it's a disgrace that Britain didn't give Henry Allingham an honour in his life time when the French gave him their highest honour.

Now the Worlds Oldest Man!
I would give anything to sit down with him for 5 minutes and tell him what a credit he is, not only to his fallen comrades, but to every human being.
And yes, he should have been knighted by now.
