  • I found out about this band on the back of "Damned Damned Damned". lol Their good.

  • The meerkat one?

  • Meerkat? No, the first album of the Damned.

  • Like the meerkat pose in Austin Powers.

  • Ah, I see. Excuse my ignorance. That was the one.

  • Une version musclée qui ne vaut pas l'original

  • i think its a pretty sick version. thanks for thecool post.

  • I guess tight pants were the trend in those days of punk :P

  • it kind of still is jordar411

  • fuck that...THEM are the first and best

  • Everybody trys to steal all the thunder from Van and Them being the originators and best performers of Gloria. SOK especially since Gloria was the only song they ever had a success with.

  • I have said it before...the hit version is by the Shadows of Knight and there may be better versions and worse versions but the hit version everyone remembers is the SOK. 5 million sold. Jimy will sing it every day of his life and thanks Van everyday for giving him a 40 yr. career!

  • That's all you talk about on all the Gloria videos. Who Cares?

  • The Doors did the best cover of this song!

    This is too fast!

  • Terrible...

  • fookin great version :)

  • Blimey are they still going. Had this on an EP in the 70s with Get out of Denver and some other tracks that my memory fails me on

  • that was actually pretty stupid, way to fuck up a great song

  • Yup you are right, type Petty and Gloria into the Ytube search bar

  • Or Patti Smith.... saw them do this live in their heyday... utterly awesome band back then! Would pay to see 'em if they came to our town.

  • As far as Petty goes, his fans all pretend he wrote the song and his version is definitive. Actually, it's wimpy. This song is about a teenage boy and sex. Them's is the only one that has the right dynamics. Van was 19 when he sang & wrote this. Sorry Tom, Get a Life!!!!

  • I was agreeing that Eddie and the hot Rods wrecked their version. Actually I never said anything about Petty's version, As far as the "definitive" version I'd go with the Shadows of the Knight....

  • You said type in Petty-Gloria. Everyone has an opinion, and that's great.

Shadows of the Knight, never had a hit after Gloria. Them's version had the phrase, "She comes to my room" & a lot of radio stations wouldn't play it. So the Shadows cover without those words made it big in those areas.

  • OK I'm logging into Craigs List now and doing a search on getting a life

  • I wish this was a 1977 version of the song and video.
