@keatrobot Know what was really funny? Penn State and Matt McGloin (MATT MCGLOIN) chewing up the Ohio State defense for the first half in the Horseshoe. Buckeye fans were booing their own team. Yeah, I know you won eventually, but this is the same PSU team that was blown out on homecoming by Illinois.
@MVillani1985 You know what's even funnier? Penn State deflating in the second half with only 58 total yards, giving up 35 consecutive points (with MATT CGLOIN throwing 2 pick 6's). Why point out how well a team did in the first half if it was in a game in which they collectively got their asses kicked?
@Billygizzle08 You act like you're surprised that Penn State imploded in the second half. If that's even funnier than Ohio State struggling early against a team that they should have blown out, then you probably think aesop-based children's shows are funnier than actual comedy. Penn State was awful last year, you should be hanging your head in shame about struggling against a team that 9-3 Bama, 7-5 Iowa, and 6-6 Illinois practically creamed. Those teams had Penn State put away by halftime.
@MVillani1985 Lmao "those teams had Penn State put away by halftime"? Illinois was only up 20-13 at half vs. PSU and Iowa was up by 14. That's not being put away. Bama was up by 17 which is a little different but to say those teams "practically creamed" PSU & Ohio State struggled is just retarded seeing as how Ohio State beat them by more than any of those other teams did. Not only that PSU had more yards vs. those teams (except Illinois) than they had vs. Ohio State. There goes your argument
@Billygizzle08 Illinois only allowed 3 first downs in the first half and those turnovers were silly mistakes yet held PSU to field goals from inside the 20. Outside of those and broken coverage, Illinois was rolling through PSU's defense. And those extra PSU yards usually came in garbage time. Point spread difference isn't the tell all of a game, would you say that your Illinois win was more dominant than your Arkansas win? Or Marshall was more dominated than Ohio U?
@MVillani1985 Sure it's not the tell of the game but the Illinois win was more dominant than the Arkansas win. The game was in reach with Arkansas and It took Arkansas' last drive for the game to be decided (on an Arkansas turnover). Ohio State had complete control over Illinois & the game was out of reach after Ohio State's last TD. And the Marshall/Ohio comparison's too close to call one more dominant. But you know what they say, a win's a win & Ohio State beat ever team you mentioned.
@Billygizzle08 A win's a win, unless you're Penn State beating Indiana in 1994. But I'm not sure if Illinois was really more dominant, the Illini played OSU down to the wire until the waning minutes. Arkansas, maybe I'm wrong and it really was close, but it just felt like Ohio State was in cruise control after going up 28-7 at halftime. Perhaps a better example would be Penn State in 2009 beating Akron 31-7 vs beating Temple 31-6. PSU led 31-0 over Akron at halftime and only 21-3 over Temple.
@MVillani1985 I just said the Arkansas game was closer because of how tight it was at the end. Arkansas had put themselves in position to take the lead and they very well could have won that game. But again, who cares? In either instance my team ended up prevailing
@Billygizzle08 In a way you have a point with that last part, as flawed as the BCS system can be, at least a win is still a win and it doesn't hurt your BCS rankings if you don't cover the spread (which is how in 2009 Iowa ended up #3 in the BCS while being #7 in the human polls before losing to Northwestern and Ohio State back to back).
@72seeker72 No excuses in this game, Penn State was out of this game completely long before the final whistle, but what killed any mathematical hopes of PSU even winning by a miracle was a Morelli pick six early in the 4th that made it 34-10. When you face a team that's prepared to win, like in 2007, there just isn't much you can do to win. Ironically, PSU trying to get back in it made it worse since it led to a Morelli pick six to cement the game as a complete blowout of epic proportions.
Ohio state has been a great program in the past, and went through it's ups and downs. Then, Jim Tressel cam along and made Ohio State great, but as with anything it cannot last...So, just because we lose a big game doesn't mean we aren't good. There are always ups and downs of programs... Look at Miami and Florida State for God's sake. By the way, Oklahoma has lost 3 national titles and a few bowl games in the past 10 years, yet no one says a word, but when it's OSU, everyone jumps on them
you know when paterno is gone, penn state is gonna be nothing.. joe pa is penn state and he'll be gone soon..this rivalry will be good, but yeah not as big as michigan
Pennsylvania has more football talent than Michigan. What I mean by that is this. Since Tres took over at OSU and mostly eliminated Michigan's habit of coming and getting many top Ohio blue-chip recruits (most of them stay home now) Michigan has slipped. While PSU gets many recruits from Ohio too, they homegrow most of theirs and have little in-state recruiting competition. I think whats been hurting PSU in recruiting has been Jo Pa, because nobody knows how much longer he will be there.
@BuckeyefanHill33 Didn't everyone say that when Bo was gone, Michigan would be nothing? I seem to remember Moeller and Carr owning the Buckeyes for a decade and a half afterwards. Prepare to see your Buckeyes owned for ten thousand years! Just kidding about the ten thousand years part. But I think this rivalry has been a big deal for a long time, ever since the 1993 game when OSU said that PSU didn't belong in the Big Ten, then PSU won 63-14 in 1994. But it's a great rivalry game.
Every time PSU beats OSU it's because of a stupid fumble or a bad call. Every time OSU beats PSU, it's an asskicking. Who owns who exactly? Plus you have no room to laugh at OSU for losing a BCS bowl, PSU has the same number of BCS wins the last 3 years as OSU has. Plus this year, at least OSU was competitive in their BCS bowl. PSU got their asses totally kicked.
@BillyBong05 If it's PSU losing, it's an asskicking even if it's 21-20 in seven thousand overtimes, but if Ohio State loses, it's a fumble or a bad call even if it's 41-14. As far as against USC, we kept it competitive, just like you did against Texas. And if you think the 2006 and 2009 games were asskickings, that's hillarious, we handed those over on a silver platter. And lemme guess, that 63-14 thumping in 1994 was a lucky break? More like ten thousand of them, LOL.
Boeckman had his career game last year, and we have Pryor now. If Pryor doesn't open it up down field, I can't see Ohio State winning this one. Simple as that.
If we are going to win this game, OSU has got to play as a team with alot of heart. Open up for wells and Pryor has got to go up field. The defense has to believe in themselves.
Penn State needs to shut down EITHER Beanie Wells or Terrell(spelling?) Pryor. If they allow them both to run well, then they are going to have a long night.
Ohio State needs to keep Penn State on defense, and not allow their offense a lot of time to pick apart their secondary.
This game was Todd Boeckman's "One shining moment" in his entire OSU career. He should savor this game, since Pryor is now "the man" in Columbus. I think Pryor will be up for this game since it's Penn State and he's from Pennsylvania. Should be a good game. The winner takes the Big Ten title. GO BUCKS!
Then of course if i were a PSU fan i would be happy that Morelli is gone watching the highlight at 2:06...was he throwing to the coach on the sideline? lol
I'm just REALLY glad that the 2003-2004 offense is gone. With post-injury Zack Mills throwing a football like it was attached to a clothesline and Robbie Gould half the time kicking like he's drunk, it was a nightmare for PSU fans.
when was the last time penn state went to a national championship....my point...the only reason the steelers ever won a superbowl was a fluke and that will never happen again...and roethlisberger had 1 good season...osu goes to the NC every year...the browns program is moving the right direction...and the cavaliers as i said beat philadelphias ass... what i'm saying is ohio lives and breaths sports much more then pennsylvania and thats why we kick pennsylvanias ass
I spent half my life in Penn and half in Ohio. I grew up in west PA so I love the steelers and didn't get into college football b/c of that. After a few years in OH I started watching CF and the buckeyes became my fav team but I still have love for Penn St. You can't hate on roethlisberger or the steelers. Roethlisberger's accident explains his past two seasons. Homeboy almost died. You need a little bit of time to recover from that. PA is east vs west so you can't throw philly in w/ pitt
it's not like ohio where they are longing for a nc and will grab hold of any team in it that's winning. penguins own the bluejackets. steelers own browns and bengals. being from pitt, i don't care about philly. if it wasn't for the buckeyes, i would say f ohio altogether. fyi browns v steelers all time is 55-57 steelers. browns have 4 championships (0 superbowls) steelers have 5 championships (all superbowls). we'll see if the browns can win their 3rd game of the century against the steelers.
Penn state also has a shitty coach and a shitty record....jo pa will be in a coma before they ever go to a national championship...and the last time penn state beat us was 2 years ago which was a fluke...and we kicked your ass in pennsylvania...we will ruin your ass even more at the horsehoes
The 17-10 whipping by Penn State in 2005 was no fluke. Yes, I said whipping. It was only close due to a sloppy field. Penn State got a nice 17-10 lead early in the third and just sat on it, knowing they could ride their defense and play vanilla for the rest of the game and still win.
Penn State's "shitty coach" is responsible for games like the 63-14 mauling in 1994 your Buckeyes experienced and the 23-10 beating in 1999 which put Ohio State in a coma for the rest of that year.
Wow. I'm sorry to say that your last comment was pretty shoddy, and I'm beginning to lose respect for you. But anyway, I never said anything about Morelli. In the end, it'll all be said and done on the field, regardless of what we say and what the pundits on ESPN say either. I just think OSU will win because of the home-field, the OSU defense, and the intangible qualities of Pryor. Oh, and Wells just might run all over PSU, he'd done it before if you don't remember.
I guess you look pretty lame right now since PSU won-POINTS DON"T MATTER, A "W" does-remember that. Way to choke in your 3rd BCS bowl in a row. You guys are total post season failures, man
@OrlandoClassWar Yeah, winning the Big Ten is no big deal for you, so you don't care if you lose the de facto Big Ten title game to Penn State, right? So just tell your guys that you don't even have to show up and PSU will just roll over and play dead in the Shoe. I hope your team has the same attitude you do. That way a 3-6 PSU team can walk into the Shoe and win 49-14 and save their bowl hopes, LOL. Oh and what has PSU done in the past 20 years? Three Big Ten titles, one (NYT) national title.
hahahaha...dont be a sore loser you stupid prick...ill mention everything....the cavaliers kicked the 76ers ass in basketball....osu kicks penn states ass every year....and the browns will beat the steelers this year so there you go....ohio owns pennsylvania
Really? OSU kicks PSU's ass every year? How about 1994 where we had our starters pulled at halftime and you couldn't stop our second and third stringers. We could have scored 100 on you. And how about 1997 where you lose 31-27? And 1999 where our 23-10 win put you in a coma? And 2001 where you lost to a 5-7 PSU team? And in 2003 you nearly lost to the worst PSU in 100 years? And of course the 2005 win not as close as the score. Also don't forget in 1978 PSU humiliated you 19-0 in the Horseshoe.
Yea pennsylvania fans need to enjoy the steelers beating the browns and bengals...cause thats the only thing pennsylvania beats ohio in is pro football....and ill surely tell you ohio state will kick the shit out of penn state this year...so yea keep enjoying the steelers if they even can beat the browns this year...ohio dominates pennsylvania in pretty much everything
whats everything cuz we've beat you in pro football as you pointed out and you havent beaten us 15 outta 16 times like we beat the browns. as i recall you havent beaten penn state 15 outta 16. we are pretty even in the all-time series retard. so please explain to me what you dominate us in cuz we curb stomp u in everything else.
I sincerely hope that your team is as cocky and unprepared as you are, so that Penn State can walk into the Horseshoe and give the overconfident Buckeyes a wakeup call. Remember in 2006, we dominated you and almost won, but you made a couple more big plays (some out of luck). You almost lost to an 8-4 Penn State. I know, almost only counts in horseshoes, well this was in the Horseshoe, so it must count. The rivalry is 12-11 OSU and will be evened out again after Penn State wins a close one.
Penn State has won how many times in the shoe??? It will never happen this year. Overconfident is the last team OSU is..they are on a mission and you are just a little step in the way..the old man will retire after this beat down...
Penn State won 5 out of 13 times in the Horseshoe, not spectacular chances but those aren't too bad. Again, I REALLY hope your team is as cocky as you are and doesn't prepare for the game, just dines on twinkies and hohos, shows up, expects Penn State to just roll over for them, then gets their asses kicked by a motivated Penn State team. But I expect a good game, these are not often blowouts. The last three games in the Shoe were close, and I expect this one to be too, except Penn State wins.
Dude I hate to bring you down this early in the year, but if I had to predict one result this year, it would be the Bucks putting up another 37 spot on your boys. Remember, it's a night game at the 'Shoe, and it will be electric. With your D-line, Beanie might go off ala Eddie vs Illinois in '95.
That may be so, but everyone expects Penn State to just roll over for the Buckeyes and get points racked up on them like a cash register, and that won't happen either.
I don't think you'll score 37, I actually think you'll score 27, and Penn State gets lucky enough to score 31 on a few lucky plays. I think this game will at least be closer than last year, and you will be forced to punt a few times.
*PSU is 0-7 at the Horseshoe since joining the Big Ten and has scored in double digits only ONCE, a 21-10 loss in 2004. The other Lions' point totals? 6, 7, 9, 6, 7 and 6. Ohio State has outscored PSU 197-51 in Columbus. I don't see PSU putting up more than 21 on OSU. It'll be interesting because I don't really know how good PSU is. They've scored a bunch of pts. this year but in reality, they haven't played anyone. OSU's peaking now, and PSU gave up TOO MANY rushing yards to Michigan.
Well, that's all in the past. Just like UPenn used to own Penn State back in the leather helmet era. One thing to note is that Penn State has only been higher ranked than OSU in the Shoe once in Joe's career, 1978, PSU was #5, OSU was #6, and coincidentally, PSU won. Right now PSU is #3, OSU is #9. And you could argue that Ohio State hasn't played anyone except USC, most of our opponents are the same caliber, and even common opponents. This isn't a PSU team that's going to play not to lose.
Also, Penn State before 2008 had only beat Wisky in Camp Randall twice, and both times by a field goal. Penn State beat them by 41 this year. And it doesn't matter how bad Wisky is, Penn State's always struggled with them. And about those yards given up to Michigan, almost all were in the first 16 minutes, after they scored their final points, they only crossed the 50 twice all game. Penn State was looking ahead to Ohio State, and I don't see them starting off cocky like that against Ohio State.
I know you're a huge PSU fan, but do you HONESTLY think PSU hangs 31 on OSU in Columbus? I mean, it's THE SAME defense as last year, but better. You were at home last year and scored 10 until 3:00 to go. Royster will have to play out of his mind and PSU's O-Line will have to as well. I think PSU's D-line will over pursue Pryor and flush him out of the pocket. He'll run all over PSU's defense, like Brandon Minor did last weekend. And Michigan Sux, of course. Buckeyes win BIG in this one! GO BUCKS
Well in retrospect, you were right about Penn State not scoring anywhere near 31 but Penn State did win in what turned out to be a classic. I did know it would be a close game, though.
And what's with the stuff about Pennsylvania fans? The Buckeyes could destroy the Quakers, I'll give you that. Now if you'd lose to the Penn Quakers, you'd never hear the end of it. It would make Appalahcian State old news overnight.
Also, the Steelers are going to torture the kittens and shitstains this year. You can count on that. Plus, as I said, expect to lose against PSU in the Horsehoe for the first time since Woody Hayes was head coach.
u have a new starter at quarterback and dan connor will prob miss the game...thats a pretty bold statement since ur going up against a team with 3 preseason sports illustrated all americans
Dan Connor is in the NFL now, I think you mean Sean Lee. We do have a pretty good defense still, though. Sean Lee made a difference, but even without Lee, there should be a good chance that PSU's defense will hold most teams. There will be some slightly higher scoring games than 9-14 like we saw last year, so I think PSU wins 31-27 in the Horseshoe. But PSU's defense won't be a paper tiger like Wisky's was last year, though.
Most teams have ignoramous fans, but also a bunch of good fans. I can't wait to see the Nittany Lions play the Buckyes in 2008. I predict a come-from-behind 31-27 vin from Penn State, even though the last time JoePa won in the Horseshoe was 1978 when OSU was still coached by Woody Hayes, winning 19-0.
Are you serious...Our Qb ate you guys up and Beannie had a bad ankle and look what we did to you guys in your house. This year will be a joke...Prediction...OSU 31..PSU 7
If it's a blowout, I'll be absolutely shocked. I won't be floored if you win, though. That one could go either way. The problem with the defense is that they seemed to think they were playing Canadian football. They'd play great for two downs, and act like you were going to punt on third down. Beanie Wells is one talented RB, though. I'll give you that. He plows through a defense like our 2005 QB Michael Robinson did. I expect you to have some trouble with our spread HD offense, though.
Last year's game was a blowout, yes, but it wasn't your typical 37-17 wipeout. Penn State was in the game (not winning it, but still alive) until that pick six that brought back bad memories of the 2006 game. I'd have to say it was a weird one. You never punted, but only led 24-10 at the end of the third. Only way it would have been weirder is if it was like the 1997 Kentucky vs Georgia game.
I will say this, though. If you hold PSU to 7, you will not score 31. I expect a close, fun game.
Yea last years game was weird..But the fans knew they didnt have a chance cause they sure left early. This year with what we have returning and in The Shoe I dont see a close game. I am not worried about that spread stuff JT got smart and sent his coaches down to teams that play it and learned about defending it. You also need a good running(fast) QB and Rec.
Last year's game was absolutely shocking. Penn State and Ohio State almost always play each other close. Like in 2006, Penn State led 3-0 at halftime and were only losing 14-6 late in the 4th. Games like the 1994, 2000, and 2007 games seem to only happen every now and then. I see a fun, close game where the game's only put away when time runs out.
1994 was a once in a lifetime blowout. I think that year Penn State could have easily smothered Ohio State even in the Horseshoe. And 2000 was just shocking the way OSU beat PSU. But I agree, games against Tressel are always very close, with 2007 as the exception.
dude you are my hero! except i rather you not predict to early. Lets see how clark or devlin does in the first 2 games. I still rather not want to predict.
I think we beat Coastal Carolina 77-0, leading 56-0 at halftime. I bet that Clark and Devlin will only play 1.5 quarters in the first game. After halftime we score 14 in the 3rd quarter with our second stringers, and a final 7 in the 4th, and then JoePa will probably tell the 4th and 5th stringers to deliberately try not to make any more first downs. Oregon State should be interesting, but I think we win. Temple and Syracuse are awful, so they should be easy wins.
PSU needs to force JoePa out, otherwise beatings liek this are gonna happen every single year to the hands of my buckeyes. With Pryor on board and the rest of the Brew Crew I truely feel sorry for the rest of the B10, a dynasty is in the making.
Yea man i have a lot of respect for JoePa and i think he is a good guy and has done some great things. But as long as he is there i dont think that penn state is going anywhere
I don't think JoePa would know what to do without PSU football. It's like that old dude in The Shawshank Redemption, but as long as OSU continues to pull in W's I'm happy w/whatever PSU is doing.
Wasn't everyone saying that in 2005? That the game passed JoePa by and that the Nittany Lions were all washed up? I remember him saying "If we don't start winning some games, I gotta get outta here" or something like that in 2005. And look what happened.
The 2007 beating was the first blowout that the Buckeyes handed to Penn State since 2000. That won't happen again. I predict Penn State will finish 10-3 in 2008 and either upset Ohio State or at least play them very close.
I was disgusted with Penn State's performance here. It's alright to lose to a better team, but at least show up! If Penn State would have brought their A-Game, it would have been more like 31-24 Ohio State instead of the 37-17 embarrassment it was.
Hey bro, I feel your pain. As an Ohio State, we stil have our share of pain. Try to imagine getting blown out by an inferior team and not even showing up...cough...Florida...cough. Sucks. Now eveyone ignorant hick the conferderacy thinks we suck. I dare them to combine their champs and compare them to OSU.
Penn State got a taste of that frustration after blowing a 17 point lead to Michigan State and then losing in a game that should have been decided. This year's PSU could have been like the 1996 team (with losses only to Ohio State and one other team, probably Illinois), but problems with Austin Scott holding onto a football and losing most of our defense because of off-field trouble finished us at 9-4.
Yeah, BUT...#25 vs. #1 usually means something. OSU was overrated, but PSU was sorely lacking on both sides of the ball. This one wasn't even close. Good luck with getting Pryor. You guys are back in the hunt.
Yeah, this was the most brutal PSU loss of this year and the worst loss since Notre Dame wiped our asses in 2006 41-17 (and it wasn't that close, the Irish led 41-3 until the last two minutes). I thought we were #22 when we played Ohio State, though. We managed to finish the year #25 after beating Texas A&M.
Hopefully PSU does get Pryor, but either way, 2008 should be an interesting year.
Too bad the SEC teams, who think they are so good, are too cowardly to play home and home against the Big Ten. "OOOOOOOOHHHHH ... itth simply too cold to play up north in October"
the song fits perfectly no matter what for whatever reason ohio state will always be judged by last year & thats fuckin bullshit this team is fuckin hungry & goin win a championship against the whoever & u know what i hope its LSU b/c they r the most overrated team in the country, believe me i live in SEC country & they will see the oppostite of what happened against florida last year b/c we're fuckin hungry!
Right on bro. I totally agree with you. Last year is NOT going to happen again. If OSU loses, it'll because they were beaten by a better team, not because they didn't show up mentally. That was the problem with last year's team. They weren't hungry enough and Florida took the game from them.
penn state will whip their ass this year

you know when paterno is gone, penn state is gonna be nothing.. joe pa is penn state and he'll be gone soon..this rivalry will be good, but yeah not as big as michigan
BuckeyefanHill33 2 years ago 5
Pennsylvania has more football talent than Michigan. What I mean by that is this. Since Tres took over at OSU and mostly eliminated Michigan's habit of coming and getting many top Ohio blue-chip recruits (most of them stay home now) Michigan has slipped. While PSU gets many recruits from Ohio too, they homegrow most of theirs and have little in-state recruiting competition. I think whats been hurting PSU in recruiting has been Jo Pa, because nobody knows how much longer he will be there.
PJYost38 2 years ago 4
@BuckeyefanHill33 Didn't everyone say that when Bo was gone, Michigan would be nothing? I seem to remember Moeller and Carr owning the Buckeyes for a decade and a half afterwards. Prepare to see your Buckeyes owned for ten thousand years! Just kidding about the ten thousand years part. But I think this rivalry has been a big deal for a long time, ever since the 1993 game when OSU said that PSU didn't belong in the Big Ten, then PSU won 63-14 in 1994. But it's a great rivalry game.
MVillani1985 1 year ago
psu vs ohio state is going to become a big rivalry.. not the same as michigan and ohio state tho!!!!
OhiostateFan02 2 years ago 4
Every time PSU beats OSU it's because of a stupid fumble or a bad call. Every time OSU beats PSU, it's an asskicking. Who owns who exactly? Plus you have no room to laugh at OSU for losing a BCS bowl, PSU has the same number of BCS wins the last 3 years as OSU has. Plus this year, at least OSU was competitive in their BCS bowl. PSU got their asses totally kicked.
BillyBong05 2 years ago 18
good shit
Juicedup58 2 years ago
@BillyBong05 If it's PSU losing, it's an asskicking even if it's 21-20 in seven thousand overtimes, but if Ohio State loses, it's a fumble or a bad call even if it's 41-14. As far as against USC, we kept it competitive, just like you did against Texas. And if you think the 2006 and 2009 games were asskickings, that's hillarious, we handed those over on a silver platter. And lemme guess, that 63-14 thumping in 1994 was a lucky break? More like ten thousand of them, LOL.

If we are going to win this game, OSU has got to play as a team with alot of heart. Open up for wells and Pryor has got to go up field. The defense has to believe in themselves.
ramtruck20 3 years ago
Penn State needs to shut down EITHER Beanie Wells or Terrell(spelling?) Pryor. If they allow them both to run well, then they are going to have a long night.
Ohio State needs to keep Penn State on defense, and not allow their offense a lot of time to pick apart their secondary.
ladragon91 3 years ago 2
This game was Todd Boeckman's "One shining moment" in his entire OSU career. He should savor this game, since Pryor is now "the man" in Columbus. I think Pryor will be up for this game since it's Penn State and he's from Pennsylvania. Should be a good game. The winner takes the Big Ten title. GO BUCKS!

Then of course if i were a PSU fan i would be happy that Morelli is gone watching the highlight at 2:06...was he throwing to the coach on the sideline? lol
Lville447 3 years ago
I'm just REALLY glad that the 2003-2004 offense is gone. With post-injury Zack Mills throwing a football like it was attached to a clothesline and Robbie Gould half the time kicking like he's drunk, it was a nightmare for PSU fans.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
when was the last time penn state went to a national championship....my point...the only reason the steelers ever won a superbowl was a fluke and that will never happen again...and roethlisberger had 1 good season...osu goes to the NC every year...the browns program is moving the right direction...and the cavaliers as i said beat philadelphias ass... what i'm saying is ohio lives and breaths sports much more then pennsylvania and thats why we kick pennsylvanias ass
csarak2155 3 years ago
I spent half my life in Penn and half in Ohio. I grew up in west PA so I love the steelers and didn't get into college football b/c of that. After a few years in OH I started watching CF and the buckeyes became my fav team but I still have love for Penn St. You can't hate on roethlisberger or the steelers. Roethlisberger's accident explains his past two seasons. Homeboy almost died. You need a little bit of time to recover from that. PA is east vs west so you can't throw philly in w/ pitt
xxsnatchxx 3 years ago
it's not like ohio where they are longing for a nc and will grab hold of any team in it that's winning. penguins own the bluejackets. steelers own browns and bengals. being from pitt, i don't care about philly. if it wasn't for the buckeyes, i would say f ohio altogether. fyi browns v steelers all time is 55-57 steelers. browns have 4 championships (0 superbowls) steelers have 5 championships (all superbowls). we'll see if the browns can win their 3rd game of the century against the steelers.
xxsnatchxx 3 years ago
Penn state also has a shitty coach and a shitty record....jo pa will be in a coma before they ever go to a national championship...and the last time penn state beat us was 2 years ago which was a fluke...and we kicked your ass in pennsylvania...we will ruin your ass even more at the horsehoes
csarak2155 3 years ago
The 17-10 whipping by Penn State in 2005 was no fluke. Yes, I said whipping. It was only close due to a sloppy field. Penn State got a nice 17-10 lead early in the third and just sat on it, knowing they could ride their defense and play vanilla for the rest of the game and still win.
Penn State's "shitty coach" is responsible for games like the 63-14 mauling in 1994 your Buckeyes experienced and the 23-10 beating in 1999 which put Ohio State in a coma for the rest of that year.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
72seeker72 3 years ago
I guess you look pretty lame right now since PSU won-POINTS DON"T MATTER, A "W" does-remember that. Way to choke in your 3rd BCS bowl in a row. You guys are total post season failures, man
dougalmac54 2 years ago
4 BCS wins...1 national title.
What has Penn State done in the past 20 years? 6-10 against The Ohio State University and a bunch of mid level bowls.
Beating Penn State is nothing special for us. Beating Ohio State defines your season.
OrlandoClassWar 2 years ago 2
Couldn't agree more. tOSO > PSU
UM4LIFEBABY 2 years ago 3
@OrlandoClassWar Yeah, winning the Big Ten is no big deal for you, so you don't care if you lose the de facto Big Ten title game to Penn State, right? So just tell your guys that you don't even have to show up and PSU will just roll over and play dead in the Shoe. I hope your team has the same attitude you do. That way a 3-6 PSU team can walk into the Shoe and win 49-14 and save their bowl hopes, LOL. Oh and what has PSU done in the past 20 years? Three Big Ten titles, one (NYT) national title.
MVillani1985 1 year ago
hahahaha...dont be a sore loser you stupid prick...ill mention everything....the cavaliers kicked the 76ers ass in basketball....osu kicks penn states ass every year....and the browns will beat the steelers this year so there you go....ohio owns pennsylvania
csarak2155 3 years ago
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Yea pennsylvania fans need to enjoy the steelers beating the browns and bengals...cause thats the only thing pennsylvania beats ohio in is pro football....and ill surely tell you ohio state will kick the shit out of penn state this year...so yea keep enjoying the steelers if they even can beat the browns this year...ohio dominates pennsylvania in pretty much everything
csarak2155 3 years ago
whats everything cuz we've beat you in pro football as you pointed out and you havent beaten us 15 outta 16 times like we beat the browns. as i recall you havent beaten penn state 15 outta 16. we are pretty even in the all-time series retard. so please explain to me what you dominate us in cuz we curb stomp u in everything else.
ajfkrm 3 years ago
I sincerely hope that your team is as cocky and unprepared as you are, so that Penn State can walk into the Horseshoe and give the overconfident Buckeyes a wakeup call. Remember in 2006, we dominated you and almost won, but you made a couple more big plays (some out of luck). You almost lost to an 8-4 Penn State. I know, almost only counts in horseshoes, well this was in the Horseshoe, so it must count. The rivalry is 12-11 OSU and will be evened out again after Penn State wins a close one.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Penn State has won how many times in the shoe??? It will never happen this year. Overconfident is the last team OSU is..they are on a mission and you are just a little step in the way..the old man will retire after this beat down...
ridingtimes 3 years ago
Penn State won 5 out of 13 times in the Horseshoe, not spectacular chances but those aren't too bad. Again, I REALLY hope your team is as cocky as you are and doesn't prepare for the game, just dines on twinkies and hohos, shows up, expects Penn State to just roll over for them, then gets their asses kicked by a motivated Penn State team. But I expect a good game, these are not often blowouts. The last three games in the Shoe were close, and I expect this one to be too, except Penn State wins.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Dude I hate to bring you down this early in the year, but if I had to predict one result this year, it would be the Bucks putting up another 37 spot on your boys. Remember, it's a night game at the 'Shoe, and it will be electric. With your D-line, Beanie might go off ala Eddie vs Illinois in '95.
wedontgiveadamn 3 years ago 2
That may be so, but everyone expects Penn State to just roll over for the Buckeyes and get points racked up on them like a cash register, and that won't happen either.
I don't think you'll score 37, I actually think you'll score 27, and Penn State gets lucky enough to score 31 on a few lucky plays. I think this game will at least be closer than last year, and you will be forced to punt a few times.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
72seeker72 3 years ago
Well, that's all in the past. Just like UPenn used to own Penn State back in the leather helmet era. One thing to note is that Penn State has only been higher ranked than OSU in the Shoe once in Joe's career, 1978, PSU was #5, OSU was #6, and coincidentally, PSU won. Right now PSU is #3, OSU is #9. And you could argue that Ohio State hasn't played anyone except USC, most of our opponents are the same caliber, and even common opponents. This isn't a PSU team that's going to play not to lose.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Also, Penn State before 2008 had only beat Wisky in Camp Randall twice, and both times by a field goal. Penn State beat them by 41 this year. And it doesn't matter how bad Wisky is, Penn State's always struggled with them. And about those yards given up to Michigan, almost all were in the first 16 minutes, after they scored their final points, they only crossed the 50 twice all game. Penn State was looking ahead to Ohio State, and I don't see them starting off cocky like that against Ohio State.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
I know you're a huge PSU fan, but do you HONESTLY think PSU hangs 31 on OSU in Columbus? I mean, it's THE SAME defense as last year, but better. You were at home last year and scored 10 until 3:00 to go. Royster will have to play out of his mind and PSU's O-Line will have to as well. I think PSU's D-line will over pursue Pryor and flush him out of the pocket. He'll run all over PSU's defense, like Brandon Minor did last weekend. And Michigan Sux, of course. Buckeyes win BIG in this one! GO BUCKS
72seeker72 3 years ago
Well in retrospect, you were right about Penn State not scoring anywhere near 31 but Penn State did win in what turned out to be a classic. I did know it would be a close game, though.
MVillani1985 2 years ago
And what's with the stuff about Pennsylvania fans? The Buckeyes could destroy the Quakers, I'll give you that. Now if you'd lose to the Penn Quakers, you'd never hear the end of it. It would make Appalahcian State old news overnight.
Also, the Steelers are going to torture the kittens and shitstains this year. You can count on that. Plus, as I said, expect to lose against PSU in the Horsehoe for the first time since Woody Hayes was head coach.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
u have a new starter at quarterback and dan connor will prob miss the game...thats a pretty bold statement since ur going up against a team with 3 preseason sports illustrated all americans
Lville447 3 years ago

MVillani1985 3 years ago
Are you serious...Our Qb ate you guys up and Beannie had a bad ankle and look what we did to you guys in your house. This year will be a joke...Prediction...OSU 31..PSU 7
ridingtimes 3 years ago 2
If it's a blowout, I'll be absolutely shocked. I won't be floored if you win, though. That one could go either way. The problem with the defense is that they seemed to think they were playing Canadian football. They'd play great for two downs, and act like you were going to punt on third down. Beanie Wells is one talented RB, though. I'll give you that. He plows through a defense like our 2005 QB Michael Robinson did. I expect you to have some trouble with our spread HD offense, though.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Last year's game was a blowout, yes, but it wasn't your typical 37-17 wipeout. Penn State was in the game (not winning it, but still alive) until that pick six that brought back bad memories of the 2006 game. I'd have to say it was a weird one. You never punted, but only led 24-10 at the end of the third. Only way it would have been weirder is if it was like the 1997 Kentucky vs Georgia game.
I will say this, though. If you hold PSU to 7, you will not score 31. I expect a close, fun game.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Yea last years game was weird..But the fans knew they didnt have a chance cause they sure left early. This year with what we have returning and in The Shoe I dont see a close game. I am not worried about that spread stuff JT got smart and sent his coaches down to teams that play it and learned about defending it. You also need a good running(fast) QB and Rec.
ridingtimes 3 years ago
Last year's game was absolutely shocking. Penn State and Ohio State almost always play each other close. Like in 2006, Penn State led 3-0 at halftime and were only losing 14-6 late in the 4th. Games like the 1994, 2000, and 2007 games seem to only happen every now and then. I see a fun, close game where the game's only put away when time runs out.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
Games like 1994 and 2000 dont happen because John Cooper doesn't coach Ohio State anymore
col63onel 3 years ago
1994 was a once in a lifetime blowout. I think that year Penn State could have easily smothered Ohio State even in the Horseshoe. And 2000 was just shocking the way OSU beat PSU. But I agree, games against Tressel are always very close, with 2007 as the exception.
MVillani1985 3 years ago
dude you are my hero! except i rather you not predict to early. Lets see how clark or devlin does in the first 2 games. I still rather not want to predict.
psuphanatic729 3 years ago
I think we beat Coastal Carolina 77-0, leading 56-0 at halftime. I bet that Clark and Devlin will only play 1.5 quarters in the first game. After halftime we score 14 in the 3rd quarter with our second stringers, and a final 7 in the 4th, and then JoePa will probably tell the 4th and 5th stringers to deliberately try not to make any more first downs. Oregon State should be interesting, but I think we win. Temple and Syracuse are awful, so they should be easy wins.

I don't think JoePa would know what to do without PSU football. It's like that old dude in The Shawshank Redemption, but as long as OSU continues to pull in W's I'm happy w/whatever PSU is doing.
bucknut46 3 years ago 2

MVillani1985 4 years ago
Hey bro, I feel your pain. As an Ohio State, we stil have our share of pain. Try to imagine getting blown out by an inferior team and not even showing up...cough...Florida...cough. Sucks. Now eveyone ignorant hick the conferderacy thinks we suck. I dare them to combine their champs and compare them to OSU.
Juiceroids 4 years ago 4
Penn State got a taste of that frustration after blowing a 17 point lead to Michigan State and then losing in a game that should have been decided. This year's PSU could have been like the 1996 team (with losses only to Ohio State and one other team, probably Illinois), but problems with Austin Scott holding onto a football and losing most of our defense because of off-field trouble finished us at 9-4.
MVillani1985 4 years ago
Yeah, BUT...#25 vs. #1 usually means something. OSU was overrated, but PSU was sorely lacking on both sides of the ball. This one wasn't even close. Good luck with getting Pryor. You guys are back in the hunt.
72seeker72 4 years ago
Yeah, this was the most brutal PSU loss of this year and the worst loss since Notre Dame wiped our asses in 2006 41-17 (and it wasn't that close, the Irish led 41-3 until the last two minutes). I thought we were #22 when we played Ohio State, though. We managed to finish the year #25 after beating Texas A&M.
Hopefully PSU does get Pryor, but either way, 2008 should be an interesting year.

Right on bro. I totally agree with you. Last year is NOT going to happen again. If OSU loses, it'll because they were beaten by a better team, not because they didn't show up mentally. That was the problem with last year's team. They weren't hungry enough and Florida took the game from them.
