Johnny is so full of passion for music that he want's to experiment with music and RHCP is to much for the masses i think and that's too bad because his solo work is full off creative ideas but the mixing is terrible is voice too loud or the guitar too soft , and he does that as a creative look on composing but it's just not as clean and good to listen as the rhcp stuff.
