not interested! It will be over priced being a diesel hybrid but there is no excuse for this as the petrol hybrids are the same as other cars. The manufacturers seem to think they can stick an extra 10-10k on top just because its not a petrol hybrid. Also, every Volvo i've ever had has been totally unreliable and thats 3 volvo's but never another one!
Prius comes with a plug in soon, also the 100% RAV4 in North America. Off course fuel cost only 1 dollar a liter, so 75 euro cents (today rates!), so it does not really make sense all together. Bio diesel is cool, but the price will be even more than gas (benzine), that's why gas is popular. Love the Volvo!
@siraj114873 American EPA emission laws are different than European and Asian emission laws. Europe and Asia are strict on particulates but not as strict on NOX. NOX is the stuff that is fairly harmless, but is photochemical and SUPPOSEDLY contrubutes to global warming....which is a complete hoax!
@jgmagoo1 That is completely irrelevant. European cars have engines that are much more advanced than american engines, and they pollute less in every way measurable, so there's no reason why they wouldnt pass the emission tests in US. The only reason why they might not pass is american government boycotting the sale of foreign cars, so that more american cars would be sold. And they do that already in many ways...trough false reliability statistics, false costumer satisfaction statistics, etc
@siraj114873 The US government is in bed with the oil companies, same situation with the UK. The Swedish gov is pushing ruthlessly to put these more efficient cars into production. If everyone drove around in these cars the oil companies would make less moeny as the plug in hybrids use energy from clean resources for example solar power. Also no oil company or government controls the sun or wind, even the gravitational pull that is used to turn hydroelectric turbines. Sad world :(
@siraj114873 that's what all we need. More products from china. Volvo was sold to a chinese company. The volvo i loved is no more they put now, mazda motors and the price starts from 30 G's in CA.
HEY VOLVO! Please bring this car to the US- there is a market for it! Tens of thousands of people are holding off buying their next car until they can get a diesel hybrid that can run on biofuel!!!
I contacted Volvo about this car and whether this will be in the US. There are no current plans to bring it to the US. Looking at this and thinking about this more, I would say that they are doing this to lower their grams of CO2/km. There is not such a law here and with added costs for certification in the US, they may not ever get this car in the US. I expect it will be 15K more than a prius.
i live in a block of flats how do i plug it in to charge ??? my only option is to have a diesel generator to charge it there goes the CO2 mind you i will be able to use red diesel
@MrCker The V60's electrical engine only provides 70 hp but is a sustainable idea for the future. It's very expensive to develop the lithium batteries, therefore we won't see the technology in every car brand soon.
its becuase most people wont buy a car because of its looks and why put it in some small cheap car when you can put it in a nice luxary car that wont be that much more exspensive than the base model plus its a plugin car which means you will get a goverment grant on the car.
your choice a toyota pyruis or honda eqiverlant or this car no brainer really.
@donehardy uhm.... apparently u have no idea what a hybrid car costs too build. it is VERY expensive and it is not possible atm to build a cheap hybrid car. So it would not rly matter if it's a sport car or not - still far to expensive for the bigger audience.

Sounds like a new version of the old Volvo ECC. Don't let this one go the way of the ECC please! A US release would be excellent also.

Sadly, I do not think this will be available in the United States. :-(
If I am wrong, please correct me.

WHY DOES THESE MOTHERFUCKERS PUT ALL GREEN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY ON A EXPENSIVE SPORT CAR???
If this kind of technology were in a cheap car, more people would buy it, and the enviroment would be spared...
donehardy 1 year ago
@donehardy I wouldn´t use the term ‘sporst car‘, but I agree with you. They should develop a v70 version instead, even if its not cheaper.

those gauges are awesome!!!
Rodolcort 1 year ago
Pretty sweet!
If they can do this on a non-wagon platform, it would really take off here in The States.
With AWD, this has to weigh 2 tons, and cost $50k
Get it in a mid-sixed sedan, at 36-3700 lbs, under $40k, and they have a gold mine!
BlackDynamiteNYC 1 year ago
@BlackDynamiteNYC I read in a new car magazine out 11/2011 that this car gets up to 147 mpg.
Remarkable. I love the wagon. I would definitely buy or lease it!
