The first song gave off such a sexy aura that was totally opposite from the girl in the painting who looked so innocent and cute. It made for a really interesting viewing experience :)

I've been thinking about getting the Intuos2 used (I'm poor). This is convincing me more that I need a tablet. Its a great bridge between drawing (or painting) and computer art. Your painting is very nice. I actually thought the flipping of the image was a post-production thing just to keep the girl dancing around during the songs. HAHA... turns out it was functional.

@trentfred I'm getting a tablet as well, but let me tell you, I did an entire painting of taylor lautner in photoshop with just a mouse, and that was my first. It was very frustrating and I knew a tablet would have helped, but I couldn't get one at that time and it is still possible to paint with a mouse, you just need lots of patience. Wouldn't recommend a mouse for the hair though...mine sucked.

@artep2122 You'll get really bad carpal tunnel from painting with a mouse.. Really bad.. It's probably the absolute quickest way to get it. Just hours and hours of precision mousework.. not good :D

It's amazing how you start off with a simple sketch, and end with something so...wonderful!

I have a question though, what is the purpose of flipping the image?

It makes drawing easier, as going in certain angles feel unnatural. It's like turning a piece of paper at an angle in everyday writing.

Sometimes I flip it to get a new perspective on the image, to help find misplaced features and such.

I don't think there is one by default. Go to Edit -> Keyboard Shortcuts... -> Shortcuts For: Application Menus -> Image -> Rotate Canvas -> Flip Canvas Horizontal and set your shortcut there (mine is bound to Ctrl+F)

For rescaling, I use Image -> Image Size.

For extending or trimming the canvas, I use the Crop Tool (third icon down on the left column).
