  • es una chulada estar rayando los vinils

  • the only cheesy thing about this is flash is doing here what he was doing before cowboy came along. which is playing music to people with no mc to warm them up into it

  • ok hes an innovater and all but compared to qbert, mixmaster mike, craze etc hes pretty shit

  • @Evilacidfunker they'll turn into shit one day too. dj'ing is more like a sport than an instrument. when you lose half a step you can slip into appearing incompetent very quickly. and the crowd doesn't understand the most difficult aspects of it and go ooooooooh at stuff that sounds complex but may actually be easy

  • @Evilacidfunker he's not an innovator mate. he's the CREATOR.

he's probably the one who invented scratching!

  • @Nemejester Grand wizard theodore invented it

  • @Evilacidfunker ow. sowee, confused them both :s

  • @Evilacidfunker are you fukkin crazy? there wouldnt be a rythmless qbert and all those other clowns without flash. thats whats wrong with you kids no respect. what say you og jazzy jeff who is flashes student? jerkoff

  • @sistael i have respect thats why i said hes an innovator but if u compare that to any mixmaster mike or craze routine he just hasnt got the same skill, his scratches are too basic and his jugglin is too simple

  • @Evilacidfunker sorry i got a little crazy but i believe music is sbout rythm. and the stuff these guys do is rythmless so what is the point.

  • Grand wizard theodore would is the inventer of scratching was a contemporary and apprentice under flash. I was there.

  • those were the days flash

  • I bought that song from downstairs records a record shop in the train station at 42nd street for 10 dollars. We had to buy 2 10 dollars was a lot of money back then for a record.

  • who is dj steve dee. I aint never heard of him and i grew up in that era and was a dj during those times I am not saying you are not right but i certaintly never heard of them and i was around most of the pioneers. Queens ny manhattan bronx and brooklyn.

  • @moshua947 DJ Steve Dee is one of the most influential DJs of our time and the creator of the "The Funk" known to the world as beat juggling. Steve Dee was the founding member of the original DJ group "The X-Men" (today known as the X-Ecutioners) and help father the movement called "Turntablism."

  • @liambrown0 I am really referencing pioneers and old school DJs. I am not really knowledgable about what is happening today and with the new school djs thanks.

  • @moshua947 mate steve dee was in the 1990 us dmc champs with his turntables the standard way round if thats not old skool i don't know what is. FAIL

  • @liambrown0 Grandmaster flash was doing parties in nyc in the mid and late 70s. Grandmaster flash and the furious five realeased there first recording called superrapping in 1979. By this time mcs {rappers] were beginning to displace djs as the main attraction in hip hop music, so most of his turntable work had been done already. Steve dee may be great I am just saying he came in a little later. Way after flash.

  • c lui grandmaster flash ?

  • This guy is a shining light.

More than a superstar. It's one of those in your time innovators that

can shed some light on the game and creativity.

He was very honest with his last book and down to earth!!

One of the cats that helped confirm it's sho' nuff coolin' to be yourself.

    thanks for showing this

  • vinyl fever!

  • MADDDDDD props!!!!!--I still play vinyl!!!!!

  • YO!!! my back still hurting from toating big crates of vinyl but hell...let it hurt!! when i used to dj...i kept four big crates of records for my shows...now these cats carry a laptop????

  • @DjTriton514 Well, i kinda agree. Trance and Hip Hop are different genres and Tiësto is a good DJ and i don't think you can compare Grandmaster Flash and Tiësto. Although, Grandmaster Flash is the guy who invented DJ'ing with 2 turntables and a mixer and made them an instrument.

  • GREAT! SO SO GREAT!

  • Im sorry, but Grand Master Flash isnt the first ti use the turntables as an instrument!! That my friend would be Dj Steve Dee!! In your description, you state that GM Flash is "Beat Juggling", Im here to tell you that hes not doing that @ all!! Flash is just "cutting" the beat back & forth!!

  • @mrstevedee Grandmaster flash was doing this in the 70s and 80s totally underground in NYC. I dont think steve dee was around them 30 years ago.

  • that beat he catching on time is called/ kool is back/the flip side to i have a big beat/ dj.la.mel rock from bushwick ripped up the turntables back in tha days/ he can probably can do that shit/ bushwick bklyn peace never for get back jammin the parks

  • stupid legend,word up..buy vinyl

  • loser

  • dude this music is so sick!!!!1

  • dude you music so sick!!!!!!!!

  • What is the song at 0.50?..thanks so much

    RESPECT for GMF

  • hey ive heard Dj Premier using that phone ringing sample what is part from?

  • it's a song called "LAST NIGHT CHANGED IT ALL" from the Esther Williams album Let Me Show You from 1976

  • One of the illlest to ever live.

  • does anyone know the name of the first song he is backspining

  • it's called "KOOL IS BACK" by Funk Inc.

  • NOW THIS IS A REALLY DJ...... NOT like the MUthafuckers with the Fucking Computers.........

  • Actually - grandmaster flash now uses traktor. check the youtube vids!

  • real djs have been using computers xD its just more reliant to have a computer now because vinyls can be fucked by haters with a quarter T^T and computers are pretty much only fucked by haters but you still need the vynil with most controllers real djs know how to adapt quit livin in the past ;P

  • La puta hostia ignorantes.

  • DA REAL OLD SCHOOL!!!!

  • true legend!!!

  • i rest my case! remember the next time you in a club who's on the wheels and whos on the mic. now go back on your wack ass protools or reasons software and yap your little make believe cornball rhymes! obviously you have nuthing to counter! cuz you dont know nuthing! how's your record collection? oops i mean downloads! you wack ass fraud!!

  • well it's worse cuz you have no skill, and probably never will! most of you idiots dont even take turntables seriously now, cuz it's easier to be some wack ass yapper! your GENERATION has a sort attention span! more than likely cuz your part of the post crack baby era! you want to believe in that fantasy world of racism? boy i dont know where you live! but that "IT BETTER TO BE WHITE THAN WACK ON BLACK" is still in effect porch monkey!

  • @ozoid455 I heard you rock to guitar hero, use the N-word and diss on white people, and you aren't even black. That's sick man. Your mom is calling bitch, it's time for supper.

  • your still following me around youtube. tells me your either gay or just a dumb white kid with nuthin to do at home! cant take the fact you aint never created nuthin ORIGINAL in your whole life! you proven that white kids are their own worst enemies! again go get a razor and be done with it! you know it's the white thing to do...

  • The why aren't you doing it whitey?

  • child,child,child,child.....go back to class and have a time-out!

  • Oh, by the way, great insight into the human mind. You got all that because I watched a video on youtube that you did and made a comment. You are a special mind my friend. You will go down in history......like your mother went down on the highschool football team and ended up with you.

  • dam kid you really a little wet in the ass for that one! someday you'll be a grown up and actually stop copying what other brain dead snitch bitches do on here!

  • Funny you talk about school and you've probably never stepped foot in one. Before you tell someone to get a life, you have to have one yourself. I have a job and pay my own bills. I drive a car. It's a POS, but it's better than 2 feet and a heartbeat. Original? I probably have more talent in my dick than you have in your entire family. Really, when someone is uneducated, they resort to personal attacks. Now go ahead and insult me. Just to prove me right.

  • OHH NOW WE HAVE SELF REFLECTION ON HERE? ohh poor you! cant take it eh? I told you.... SUICIDE IS THE BEST WAY! you cant comment on this HIP HOP shit cuz your really a CYBER BITCH! but gee thats a low self esteem comment isnt it? face sonny boy your WHITE and Talentless! Ya never went to battles let alone talk that shit until you see CRACKERS up there! but your a little innocent babe in the woods aint ya! all you can say is "your uneducated" I have a fantasy job and expensive car! wow!!!

  • Obviously you can't read cause you are making no sense at all. I just said I work unlike you. And I drive a car. Beats the bus eh whitey?

  • @ozoid455 well said my man respect

  • @80sbaby209 your just another lazy scary white bitch who aint never did it! you get on here talkin bad on using the ORIGIINAL ART FORM! so you can make your punkass lame excuse to front like you really a dj! which you aint! little spoiled white jackasses werent even involved in this art form back then none!! i wonder why!? now you watch these youtube vidz and want to do it! fuck off and go and buy DJ HERO ! you fraudelent nut stain!

  • ---FresH---

  • why dont hip hop dj's beat match and let 2 songs play at once for an extended period of time...?.... thats crazy skill. im not saying this isnt.... but anyone who dj's will know what im saying. like you never hear a hip hop dj pull a double drop but youll hear ti in like everything else

  • It's been going since the 70's when Flash started out in The Bronx. He was the innovator of the whole back to back thing (Not Scratching). It's a Hip Hop culture thing!! The DJ's played for the communities at the Block Parties and primarily they play for the B Boys or BreakDancers. So Flash only played the best part of the record back to back (The Break) just like he's doing here.

  • whats the name of the song that starts at 0:49?

  • on you tube,,,type in last "night changed it all i really had a ball"...By Esther williams. The reason I remember is becaused i grew up listening to this old old old school back in the bronx in 1981.

  • gj !

  • thing is mate, when your an old skool dj who was there back in the days you adore using your records rather than turnin up at a gig with a lap top..

its an original thing i guess.. if u wernt there ude have missed it ;)

    peace

  • haters step off!!!!!!

  • Please... STOP ALL THAT. "IF" you use your turntables to interface the audio files on your laptop through control vinyl... IT IS THE SAME THING. The ONLY difference is that you are not pulling records from a crate. Any DJ from that era that is worth a shit already KNOWS where their records are in the crate. Depending on how disorganized the hard drive is... PULLING RECORDS IS ACTUALLY EASIER. Why shouldn't Hip Hop benefit from technology? Were you saying the same thing when the sp12 came out?

  • the fact that he's not the best dj out there for a long time, is a testament to what he started. He started something that has become too big for even himself. That makes him great.

  • trwylekat, First off, I highly doubt you are a dj. this is where the original dj'ing started.. you should respect it. i don't spin hip hop but i respect grand master flash. I truly belive techno owes a big debt to him and others of his ilk ( know you are going to look that one up, lol) . and about your set being up next. lmao yeah, like we all jump on you tube right before a set.... do me favor and die... you give dj's a bad name.

  • Look team opinion. Grand Master Flash was one of the original's, like his music or hate it. he deserves some respect. he is an artist, musician , and a performer. on top off all that he, over the years has done a lot for his community. for the record. I am white 43 years old, a rocker, father of two who loved the OLD SCHOOL hip hop and rap. don not care for the new Gangtster BS. nothing original there. that crap is all done pre recorded and with synthesizers.

  • Several of Flashs first recordings that were pressed to wax by the sugarhill label were SYNTH BASED, not all..but some.

And yes, of course searching for breakbeats and making loops out of them was and is the foundation of what samplists do.

    .

  • fuck all you hoes

  • Flash has always used his turntables like samplers...the principle is essentially the same. Cutting back and forth between loops, creating musical collages on the spot. Flash's early productions were mainly synth based though, from what I've hard. Needless to say, samples or synths...flash is a musical genius.

  • Umm.. No, its samplers that are being used like guys like Flash used the turntables. Thats where breakbeats came from.

  • wow, okay guys, this is my opinion. DJ is anyone who is able to play music from a DJ equipment, some are good some are bad. there is NOTHING to compare, Tiesto is much much different from Grand Master Flash, Grand Master Flash is one of the BEST DJs in the world and is well known for hip-hop music, scratching, producing and INTRODUCING.. without him turntablism wouldnt stand the same way as it does now. Tiesto, well known DJ for his solo performances and techno music mixing, nothing to compare

  • trwylekat- are you a real dj? probably not or you would realise what grand master did for the world of turntableisum, so unless you have something valid to say please be quiet

  • what's that song at the end?

  • a real dj , not a dj tiesto , that homo just stands near console and watch the disc spins ...

  • i agree.

  • First of all, what is a "real" dj? what is a "fake" dj?

Because Flash scratches and Tiesto doesn't that makes him more creditable? Let me hear something that Flash actually produced... Go ahead i'll wait...

You uneducated moron, they are in two totally different idioms. What Flash is doing is good for the people that enjoy that. Trance is about the song, the energy, and the connection between the dj and crowd, not about how many goofy ass tricks the dj is doing.

  • hey, fucking prick ... google what the dj is ... DJ's are involved into hip-hop not into trance or what that shity homo thing is ...

  • LMAO listening you sister fucking redneck, first of all I could give a shit about hip-hop and your cake ass.

Second... where are you spinnin' at again????

  • look at number 15 on the play list and learn!

  • @ trwylekat

  • lmao you guys are missing the point that i don't even care about this guy... whats his name again? It doesn't impress me. Composing great music impresses me, not how u mix it with another song!

  • maybe he's making his own sing by mixing others? and just appreciate some oen who did ALLOT for the dj's maybe without flash your gay ass dj's wouldn't even be here!

  • trwylekat you are missing the point we dont care about the opinion of a moron like you....

Opinions are like assholes.. everyone has one!!!!

  • ummmmm idk but im sure music is what he is making weather you like it or not . it still is music you can dance to. and hes an Original at this Craft or what ever kind of label you want to put on it . and now people are taking this "craft" to the next lvl . just like any good artist would or should

  • @Farkeman DJ tiesto dont is DJ, he only give PLay on the music -;-

  • @Farkeman yea....those homos near consoles mix 4 songs at once...scratching and mixing is different...get educated

  • @Farkeman Tiesto isnt a dj hes a producer most house music djs are mainly producers that show off there music .. thats why tiesto took dj off his name

  • reminds me of shalimar the clown by SALMON RUSHDIE.......women on hot flashes are hot...one thing fosho, i have TIMe & eMIT on both sides.....lol

  • it's not to late buy vinyl !

  • @joshonn78 ...my muther fuckn word all day...keep on keepn on joshonn78,a man that speaks the truth

  • Listen idiot was youre point, everything you said has nothing to do with what i said. Something he started? DUUH!!!!!!!!!!! and likes what he does? DUUH!!!! Hes making a living? LOL DUHHHH!!!! LOL

  • everything cmxtasy said had something to do with what you said...

plus you hardly make sense. try making a coherent sentence before you try being an asshole on the internet.

  • youre just a 18 old confuse kid you have no idea what this conversation is about, so dont event try to understand it youre just a new school kid who probally loves memen

  • Flash all day

  • watch your mouth "kid".... Flash will more than likely outlast whatever you think hip hop is about. tell the DJs that just push buttons and have never lifted a crate to go back to start!!

  • WORD TO THAT!!!!

  • you must be out of your fucking mind or just talking shit because Grand Master Flash is awesome and always will be.You need to go check yourself and history. DICK.

  • if he likes to do it why should he ever retire?

and why you should tell him what to do?

  • who are you to say what flas should be doing?!

  • horns from "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes?
