Unemployment is not funny nor a joke. Many people are on the their last dime. We need jobs now! Most jobs are being replaced by outsourcing. We need new training programs for new high-tech jobs and get paid to attend them. I need money now and a job now. Its scary not having enough money to live on. Always have to dip into my savings, not good. I don't want to become homeless. Thank God I have some family that helps too.
I wish being unemployed was this bouncy and fun. I particularly like the list item to have a "Revenue Stream" while unemployed. I know others who are unemployed and they have sold or got rid of 50-75% of their stuff. Selling stuff might be easy but you don't get much for used fake aquariums. 1) have a plan b4 you're out of work. Minimum 10 percent net goes in a savings account, no mater how little you earn. Best to take it off your pay check so you don't see it. Keep in mind if you are not paying yourself 1st, your working for free. Never touch it, if you have to sell your clothes so be it.
2) Network keep a list of workers names numbers ect, network with the employed not the unemployed. If the Unemployed knew anything they have a job, Stay away from government BS. programs.

It’s always an awful prospect, so I thought it would be fun to pretend a popular employee had died that morning & observe a 1min silence in the office. At the end of this, the ‘deceased’ jumped out of a cupboard & announced that it was in fact a memorial to their old jobs- & a celebration of new career opportunities!
Some declared it ‘disgusting’- but most laughed & appreciated it.
Someone here needs to do something radical in Portland Oregon to get the unemployment rate down. I have been everywhere and am being told I am not hireable since I use a walker due to a bad car wreck. MSI outsourced as thousands of companies here in Portland have done and moved elswhere for lower wages. The ironic thing to that is that Arkansas where MSI moved is thinking about cutting their unemployment program. If MSI goes out of business like it did here then those people are screwed.
Just get another job, also if you haven't yet go through college it'll help a load. Work history + college = better job. For example, I work at Walmart and have not yet gone through college. All the other cashiers have not finished college or dropped out, all the managers have been through or are almost done with college. Also the people who have been through college are automatically treated better and get more awards.

This video is really not very true. I have been to training and the computer company was a scam. Many internet sites are all scams especially employment sites. You need the internet to get a job. Unemployment will be gone in most states within a year. Here they already have cut everyones benefits in half. I have updated my resue and still cannot get a job. I have been over to 50 temp agencies and have never been called by any of them. Things are really bad here in the US and are not better!!!

These things do not work. Temp agencies know the second you walk in they will never ever try to place you and practice discrimination and get away with it. I was in a car wreck that was not my falt and no one will hire me. It is not falt. I have tried everything and have taken courses and got a degree. Temp services and the employment department do not help you and do not care. They even told me there that temp services here in Oregon have no work at all. They need to tell people the truth!!!!
If you even get a minimum wage job in Nova Scotia, Canada. You will not be able to afford a car, internet, phone, ect. Living conformably with a job is not a reality anymore these days. Unemployment rates are insane here and most kids out of a 4 year degree can't find work and end up living with their parents with a large university debt up to 60 thousand dollars. Also don't forget your chances of getting hired as a white male are really low because of demographics now.

My dad has just brought some land in Virginia & he is planning on doing holiday homes for elderly brits (we r from the UK) My dad wanted to hire US workers but many of them didnt want the work it was for 4-6mth at $25perhour depending on position. Many demanded holidays,sick cover maternity leave (yeah really) also many of them wanted full health cover the jobs were for 6mth but cold lead to further work. Mexicans & Polish were they at 5am said for half the pay.Yanks need to swallow pride.
Maybe you need to pay people what they would need for living costs, decent health cover and something left to save for a holiday home like your dad wants to build.
What made you think you could start a project like that without paying union rates?

Im working in temp agencgy because there are no job openings....i eat less because work isnt guaranteed, and have no money. Weigh 125 pounds.....i was at 140. Never been so alone as now. Oh well, I guess a slow death is in my future.

@Aldenif you can also apply for medical care or temporary insurance for yourself, if you're single and have no job but some medical benefit, contact your local human service system or your local county hospital.
Most single people can get food stamps if your unemployed and can prove your an American Citizen or permanent resident. However most state do not give single people financial assistance, money. That is why there are so many crimes on the raise. How can you look for work if you do not have money? Beg, borrow or steal or ask for assistance from local community agencies and or churches.
If you are unemployed don't worry, you will receive unemployment benefits for a long period of time. If you quite your job you can also qualify for unemployment. So don't worry you won't be starved. Most of my friends quit their jobs just to get unemployment. So why work when we get paid for doing nothing.
@ereyes28, I'm not joking I'm being serious. According to EDD, you can apply and receive unemployment benefit even if you're still working. Most of my friends quit their jobs and applied and got it. So really where is the incentive to work? I encourage anyone to quit their jobs and apply for unemployment, it is available everybody.

Temp agencies diesciminate against you and tell you you have no job history when you do. I have gone to staffing agencies and they have NOTHING and no jobs. MSI laid me off-not my falt!!!

Unemployment is not funny nor a joke. Many people are on the their last dime. We need jobs now! Most jobs are being replaced by outsourcing. We need new training programs for new high-tech jobs and get paid to attend them. I need money now and a job now. Its scary not having enough money to live on. Always have to dip into my savings, not good. I don't want to become homeless. Thank God I have some family that helps too.

I wish being unemployed was this bouncy and fun. I particularly like the list item to have a "Revenue Stream" while unemployed. I know others who are unemployed and they have sold or got rid of 50-75% of their stuff. Selling stuff might be easy but you don't get much for used fake aquariums. I also wish some of these vids would offer REAL help not just "happy happy fun fun you're ok" gas.

1) have a plan b4 you're out of work. Minimum 10 percent net goes in a savings account, no mater how little you earn. Best to take it off your pay check so you don't see it. Keep in mind if you are not paying yourself 1st, your working for free. Never touch it, if you have to sell your clothes so be it.
2) Network keep a list of workers names numbers ect, network with the employed not the unemployed. If the Unemployed knew anything they have a job, Stay away from government BS. programs.

As Head of Marketing I had to make 50+ people redundant last month as part of recessionary cuts in our dept.
It’s always an awful prospect, so I thought it would be fun to pretend a popular employee had died that morning & observe a 1min silence in the office. At the end of this, the ‘deceased’ jumped out of a cupboard & announced that it was in fact a memorial to their old jobs- & a celebration of new career opportunities!
Some declared it ‘disgusting’- but most laughed & appreciated it.

Someone here needs to do something radical in Portland Oregon to get the unemployment rate down. I have been everywhere and am being told I am not hireable since I use a walker due to a bad car wreck. MSI outsourced as thousands of companies here in Portland have done and moved elswhere for lower wages. The ironic thing to that is that Arkansas where MSI moved is thinking about cutting their unemployment program. If MSI goes out of business like it did here then those people are screwed.

Just get another job, also if you haven't yet go through college it'll help a load. Work history + college = better job. For example, I work at Walmart and have not yet gone through college. All the other cashiers have not finished college or dropped out, all the managers have been through or are almost done with college. Also the people who have been through college are automatically treated better and get more awards.

there is no way to survive a job loss. Especially if the city you live in portland has NO JOBS. Companies are leaving here left and right for lower wages in other countries and cities due to NAAFTA making it legal for companies to do so and probably you will not get another job at all either. most work at home businesses are scams and they know it and that is why they prey on the unemployed. i hate what the US has done to people WHO DID NOTHING. This video is really not very true. I have been to training and the computer company was a scam. Many internet sites are all scams especially employment sites. You need the internet to get a job. Unemployment will be gone in most states within a year. Here they already have cut everyones benefits in half. I have updated my resue and still cannot get a job. I have been over to 50 temp agencies and have never been called by any of them. Things are really bad here in the US and are not better!!!

These things do not work. Temp agencies know the second you walk in they will never ever try to place you and practice discrimination and get away with it. I was in a car wreck that was not my falt and no one will hire me. It is not falt. I have tried everything and have taken courses and got a degree. Temp services and the employment department do not help you and do not care. They even told me there that temp services here in Oregon have no work at all. They need to tell people the truth!!!!

If you even get a minimum wage job in Nova Scotia, Canada. You will not be able to afford a car, internet, phone, ect. Living conformably with a job is not a reality anymore these days. Unemployment rates are insane here and most kids out of a 4 year degree can't find work and end up living with their parents with a large university debt up to 60 thousand dollars. Also don't forget your chances of getting hired as a white male are really low because of demographics now.

My dad has just brought some land in Virginia & he is planning on doing holiday homes for elderly brits (we r from the UK) My dad wanted to hire US workers but many of them didnt want the work it was for 4-6mth at $25perhour depending on position. Many demanded holidays,sick cover maternity leave (yeah really) also many of them wanted full health cover the jobs were for 6mth but cold lead to further work. Mexicans & Polish were they at 5am said for half the pay.Yanks need to swallow pride.

If you are unemployed don't worry, you will receive unemployment benefits for a long period of time. If you quite your job you can also qualify for unemployment. So don't worry you won't be starved. Most of my friends quit their jobs just to get unemployment. So why work when we get paid for doing nothing.

So really where is the incentive to work? I encourage anyone to quit their jobs and apply for unemployment, it is available everybody.

I was "offered" a early retirement in July. However, I'm too young to get a pension check. Therefore, I get nothing! People that took the same deal in September got help with COBRA and unemployment benefits, that keeps getting extended. I feel that I got used! I have had to use my savings to live ..... It was either take the package or get lost .... I guess I got lost anyway ! People taking extended benefits are not even looking for jobs; screw you ! Enjoy your fishing trips !

I do odd jobs for people and will sell stuff that I do not need on Craigslist. I have tried to make myself more marketable. Temp agencies diesciminate against you and tell you you have no job history when you do. I have gone to staffing agencies and they have NOTHING and no jobs. MSI laid me off-not my falt!!!
