@karkovice10 yes the firemen took it up the river and let it go in deeper water and it swam away! it was a porpoise they have got stuck in the mud here before.
also, I herd there was 3 of them caught in the mud... they all rescued them BUT...1 died and 2 survived.
they drove these dolphins , all 3 of them to shediac and released them at pointe du chene (northumberland strait) and these dolphines are Atlantic ocean /bay of fundy living..... most likely they did not survive :-(
Well first off this is not a porpoise ... I caught a few porpoises in the chignecto bay and this doesn't look anything like one. This looks like a Atlantic White-sided Dolphin .. yes it's a dolphin...kinda sad isn't it. There's alot fish in that river but we only see them when they get stuck.

I can't believe the nerve of these Sushi chefs taking this poor creature and promptly driving it straight to the JapHouse Drive-thru Sushi & Fins Restaurant. Just kidding. Great job to all the rescuers. Dam that is some soft, quicksand-like river bottom. Someone should install an airhorn that can sound off just before tidal fall, so the porpoises can know its time to return to deeper waters. .. Just kidding again. Gotch ya didn't I.
I've seen a porpoise in the petty before and reported it. Not sure what happened after that...but its was pretty neat to see this rescue! I hope it survived
The Petitcodiac is a tidal river (at this point below the causeway) and it runs to Shepody Bay at the top of the Bay of Fundy. The Bay of Fundy is a large Bay between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick which is part of the Atlantic. Porpoise often chase fish up these tidal rivers, and when the tide goes out, they can become trapped.

How did it get there. They are supposed to live in the sea.
sharerx 1 year ago
@sharerx That is were it came from, the river eventually goes out to sea.... Some times they take the wrong turn.
I remember 10 years ago this happened but there were 3 of them and they were adults, they were stuck around the Riverview Superstore...
