Aaron: I hope you keep up "Un Sospiro". I never worked on it but the division between the hands requires some study and work but once this is done I think it would remain in the fingers. Un Sospiro seems to me to epitomise the wonderful "Golden Period" of music-making at Weimar in the 1850s. You will always have great success with audiences with this piece. ... Gerard. PS no need to reply to this particular comment - all the very best !!!!!
I enjoy your Bach playing. I am glad to hear that you are learning "Un Sospiro". It is a wonderful piece and one worth always keeping in your repertoire. The composer himself did !!
You should really try a Hungarian Rhapsody! Number 10 is really fun to play especially with all the glissandi and so is number 6 with the octaves. Number 3 is really mysterious and who doesnt know number 2? What are you learning right now?
I have not learned any of the Hungarian Rhapsodies yet, but I do like them and my favorite is No. 2. Currently, I am learning Un Sospiro by Liszt, Prokofieff Concerto No. 3, Beethoven Sonata Op. 2 No. 3, and Chopin Scherzo No. 1 in B Minor.
You're lucky, you might get a chance to perform a concerto. I'm in Ireland and I'm learning the Ravel Left Hand Concerto but I'm only 13 and no-one cares about classical music here so I can only play it for my own amusement. I'm learning Le Festin D'Esope and the Grand Galop Chromatique too.
Keep up the good work! You might be the next Marc-Andre Hamelin! :)
I practice about 3 hours, 15 minutes a day in the summer and about 2 and a half hours a day during the school year. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you!
Great job! I think you got the Bach style down pat, I played almost the exact same way you did on my exam. Perhaps that's why i got a pretty good mark on it ;)
I think you are really really good... I liked a lot the tempo of the prelude, and the fugue sounded clear and nice as well... Good job... Why do you say you are not going to play the piece anymore ???
Thank you for the compliments on the tempo of the prelude and the clarity of the fugue. The reason I am not playing the piece anymore is because I started it more than two years ago and I played it for more than a year, so my teacher wanted me to move on to new pieces.
hey man. Thats absolutly amazing!! Very well done. I think that the speed is just right. I've heard painfully slow versions and extremely fast versions. I'm gonna show this to my class as part of a project im working on. Keep up the good work, your gonna get somewhere with playing like that!
i agree with bachscholar... its way too fast, for example the ending of the first part should be slower, other than that, he does know when to go hard and soft on that piece... very nice
maybe i should post me playing that song lol... but no really, good job Aaron
Oh my God, I'll not give you suggestions on how to study or what to learn an so on. I only must say you're really well followed by your teacher to whom goes ALL my congratulations!. I like too much your performances!!, really good!!!..I'm a pianist too (now almost a teacher) and I liked what you do with Op. 10 N° 5 (Chopin)...and here, your Bach is SO "well tempered" and I'm talking about the character!. Congratulations to you, both: teacher and pupil!
Great Job. I hope you stay with this. Music is such a powerful expression. I have been playing off and on since i was 12. Wish i started at 5. Thx for posting. and please check my video out.
Thank you for doing so well with your gift. My soul loves you playing.

Aaron, this is very good technically but why do you play it so fast? Does it really need to be this fast?

I tried this at several different speeds. It could be slower but I have also heard it played faster....
