I think we need to protect cute and ugly, cuddly and scary creatures alike. Animal rights folks sometimes get too focused on specific warm cuddly species. It's ecosystems that have to be protected. Protect ecosystems like coral reefs and rain forests and you will stop more extinction. Also hunting isn't necessarily bad, poaching is. Global Warming if unchecked will destroy far more species than the poachers have anyway.
There are many bird species endemic from pacific islands that got extinct. Also lizards. And around the world many subspecies of diferent animals got extinct, not just the black rhino subspecie.
How Long before HUMANS are added to the extinction list,if we dont get our shit together as a planet,we can kiss our species good buy, The Dinosaur was a bad motherfucker ,they aint here no more,we think we are bad motherfuckers, well I hope we dont have to learn the ultimate hard lesson,of extinction
Nah... Humans will last longer than dinosaurs..... if we don't self-destruct through wars or some incurable plague. Otherwise, humans will exploit every last grain of sand to survive. In a way, extinction will be horrible for humanity but nature doesn't care. Humans are practically the enemy of every species anyway. We invade so many of these animal's habitats, not to mention kill them for profit. Sad, but true.
@UnreasonableKnoll This is predominantly due to corporate greed as apposed to a human view. Humans cherish natures beauty. It is not you or i who clear cut rain forest. But corporations soul purpose is to continually gain increased revenue at the cost of life habitat and liberties in some cases.
Realize this. We have exponential potential as humans to do whats right. We could coexist with nature if we so chose. But corporation rule the world and indoctrinate you into constant consumerism.
Good luck changing greedy corporations. Not to mention that consumerism is inevitable if anyone wants anything in this age. Like you say, corporation (money) rules the world. I'm not indoctrinated, this is the reality we live in. My personal choice in my consumption has no influence on the greater outcome, the change has to be collective. On another note, humanity always puts itself first, which is why nature will always be exploited for human "benefit."
To person below so what 9 billion isn't anything 7 billion people alone can fill LA 9 billion is nothing worse it's not space we are consuming it's resources we need balance

Unfortunately, before too long, the IUCN will probably need to add the Amur Leopard -- a truly beautiful animal -- to this list as Extinct In The Wild since a survey in 2007 found fewer than forty individuals (all but four or five of which were adults).

Many endangered/extinkt animals are not always hunted by humans. Many have started out rare from their discovery. They usually die from underpopulation or that they are only indiginous( maybe incorrect spelling) to one area of the earth. If there is too few of them in one area that they cannotate the speices will die

I'm ok with hunting its because to prevent the expansion of the animal's population, but we also need to prevent our expansion of our population.
@RasenWeskers Actually no one is actually killing most of these animals, it's just that we are irresponsible with our waste, and it's affecting the homes of these animals. You might be indirectly killing these animals yourself. Just don't litter and don't dump chemicals into your sinks because all pipes lead to the ocean
@RasenWeskers I said ,you might be. I'm just saying, no particular group of people are killing that bird out of cold blood. Just informing you. Also, Ornithologist is spelled like this.
Modern day hunters give economic value to the animals that they hunt. Without that money,There wouldn't be State agencies, like game and fish, to protect the habitat of these animals.Although poaching still occurs, sadly, with out the national parks service, or state departments of natural resources, poaching would be much worse than it is.Modern hunters play a vital role in the conservation of today's wildlife.I'm a Wildlife biologist, and hunters do more for wildlife than PETA ever has.
I have seen that little scrunched up bird before, but only once. I saw him look at me as I headed home. It had the most BEAUTIFUL CHIRP I HAVE EVER HEARD.
There is actually a black rhinoceros in San Diego's Wild Animal Park. The guy directing the safari told us that he (the rhino) is one of only two remaining black rhinoceroses. The zoo has a lab where the sperm cells of various critically endangered animals are stored, but he said that even with artificial insemination available the poor species is going to disappear. Truly an honor to be one of the last people on Earth to see one. Really saddening as well.
freze the sperm..of the last ones like are they that stupid we could probally use a human egg to grow it in like what the hell we could wait 20 years when we have the technolgy
at the rate we humans are going we are probably going to be extinct within the next 100 or 200 years. remember we are the ones dying not the earth - the earth has survived for millions of years. one thing we humans know is that life in almost indestructible not even a world wide nuclear war can kill life.
Humans are also part of nature and we're possibly a purging mechanism for good ol' mother nature. If these species are meant to go extinct then so be it. I won't lose sleep over losing a few species here and there. Species have been going extinct well before humans and will continue well after we are gone.
who the hell will do such a thing like there like us humans they have familys who care about them and we have familys that care about us and if people kill more animals no animal will survive any more so why kill animals its like eating yourself because its made of meat just be a vegetarian . and by the way you guys are lucky animals still try to live and not want to die and animals are better than humans because they actually take care of the earth and not kill the hell out of it.
some people say they still see extinct animals...well I hope they are alive and humans will never discover them...I understand why people would cover it up if they would see one I would too...all they can do is shoot them to eat them(dinosaur ribs, dodo legs) or torture their babys for their fur to make clothes out of it..FUCKING leave animals alone they arent meant 2 be in in the zoo/circus/meat factory,I am not going to help populate humanity I hope it extincts soon and no animal abuse anymore.
Animals will survive, they survived from mass extinction 65 million years ago and look how many animal species have become from those few what survived.
What beautiful animals. It's a shame that there gone, but who knows, maybe in the future we'll have the technology to bring them back. I can't believe how many animals die from humans, well, actualy I can. Man is a destructive and self-centered creature.
@FreshFlow1000 Nonsense? LOL, WTF are you on? If you can prove one point that I made wrong, I'll bash my head with a hammer.
You know what, it doesn't matter. Just go to the roof of the highest building in downtown and disprove gravity. Since you already can disproved evolutionary biology and ecology. The world of science and society on general would greatly appreciate your contributions.
But I will NEVER hunt an endangered species. For me, there is NO purpose for hunting an animal that is in distress population wise. I rather shoot it with my CAMERA.
I shoot it (with gun) I eat it period. I don't sport hunt, nor will I shoot carnivores, I won't eat them. I actually admire wolves and cougars. We need them more then they need us!
If I won't eat it, I won't shoot it. (exception, if animal is rabid or hit by car)
Now some in the US government want to eviscerate the endangered species act. I told my congressmen and senators that they could cut ANY other program to end the debt. ANY OTHER PROGRAM.
Humans will probably go extinct within the next millions years, after which the planet will reinvigorate itself and new species of organisms would evolve. I'm just wondering, what if there would be other sapient beings who would walk the Earth, say intelligent sapient squids with underwater cities, in 500 million years, I wonder what they would feel when they find out about us... Don't you think that's interesting and mind-boggling?
@TheYipedo we were never really supposed to be this smart, the planet isn't and wasn't perpared for such intelligant creatures, which is why we are having problems now, so I'd highly doubt it unless its from outside influance in which you must ask yourself, are we the result of outside influance? O.o
@TheYipedo I'm 90% sure that mankind will fall due it's own intelligence. Even now we are coming even more dependent of internet all the time. In a few hundred/thousand years, when we have cities completely dependent for electricity and stores and other services are totally automatic, 90% of humans live in the cities and then, when eg. meteor strikes and will be a long blackout, all that will fall, cant buy or do anything because automatics are down and we don't know how to farm/hunt anymore.
@goldbullet50 Good point, although I'm sure that some of us will survive it. If such a catastrophe would happen, approximately 99.99% of the population might indeed be decimated, but the only way for us to go completely extinct (bear in mind that even 100 people can repopulate the entire planet) is for the food chain to collapse, like what happened to the dinosaurs.
@TheYipedo I wouldn't say millions, but hundreds. Mankind won't reach the end of milleniun. Then, nature will start again the fight towards perfection. Rockybrazil1
@sodrogam Well, I was extending it to the "best case scenario" for humans; 200 years is within 1 million anyway. And no, 200 is too soon. I'm not denying the fact that shit is going to break down pretty soon due to overpopulation and such, but we're talking about extinction here. It doesn't matter if 6 billion people would die tomorrow; a few million is way more than enough to sustain the human race, so a few hundred years is too little to exterminate humans, at least in my opinion.
@judgeman090 Unlikely. A major disaster that would wipe out ~20-99% of the species maybe; but to become extinct, you have to remember that there has to be a complete and total destructing for a species as adaptable, smart and technologically advanced as us to disappear. And btw, even 1% of the human population is 70 million people, that's a LOT.
@damienfeb01 . Are you fucking kidding me? NO. Rhinos were not made and put on this earth so we can execute them and sell them. Wild animals such as tigers or lion were not put on this earth to be poached to the point of being close to being an endangered species. You a good example why half the ignorant human population should die off, and the worl would probably be a lot better off.
when a specie is extincted I feel so sad because it lived on earth and evolved for millions of years and human destroyed its existence in few years, its just so sad.
@FreshFlow1000 Fucking idiot...natural predators are very unlikely to hunt its prey to extinction...
The rare times when the predator hunts its prey to extinction is when the prey is newly introduced(not native to the land). And as far as i know, the majority of these introductions are due to human travel. Even then, its very rare. example: Norwegian rats are far bigger than native north american rats, but north american rats are still around, but in very small numbers.
First, the animals disappeared, then all of the trees. Desertification soon swept over each continent as giant swarms of insects consumed any remaining vegatation. The weather changed to how it is today: keeping all remaining life indoors. But now that our food supply is whiped out, disease killed most of the population and homo sapaiens are also on the verge of extinction due to our relentless abuse of the ecosystem. I hope the next intelligent life forms learn from our mistake.
@beans8026 I also don't like hunting for fun. I mean, the animals were probably just sitting there, going about their own business, when suddenly they get shot. You can hunt for whatever reason you like but I would only hunt if it was my last resort.
@beans8026 I'm okay with hunting, just not hunting an endangered species. I only hate poachers. I eat animals, but just ones that most people eat like cows, pigs, and chicken. I'm not all for hunting and I would never do it, but I'm okay with other people hunting.
@ClubmotionCrew I never hunted but if it's like well-populated animals I'll be okay, but as soon as it hits 50 000 they should stop. We made the tigers go from 100k to only 5k in like 5 centuries, imagine what else humans will do. And I am a prescatarian but perfectly okay with what you eat and other people.
Is it me or ( no racism intended ) or is it the asians that kill everything and make them extinct like there killing out whales for sushi and sharks for shark fin soup and for what reason they're killing tigers because they belive that their bones can cure diseases Which has been scientificly proven that their are traces of poison in a tiger bone like what the fuck?
@lokuendog Yup, they sure are.

SHOW THIS VIDEO TO JAPANESE!!!
Japanese eat all the whales that migrate anywhere near Japan.
They even spend 6 mos. a year in Antarctic Whale Sanctuary to hunt at least 1,000 whales, including species that are on the endangered list.
Japanese eat 200,000 dolphins a year.
They eat all the dolphins that migrate anywhere near Japan.
Dolphins could become endangered like whales.
Japanese ate several animal species to extinction in the Asian nations that they invaded in early 1900's.

@daniyellowjello hah, you mean i'm killing that bird?
even i'm ornithologyst how can i kill him, if my work is to save them?
but anyway , yeah you right

What's the specie that you wish were to go extinct for the rest of nature's sake, but they just keep on populating?
Humans.

This should be a wake-up call to mankind. Our destructive ways are destroying our planet, one species at a time.

@zillajratomicray I went there too one time many years back. It was really sad to hear about this awesome black rhinoceros species dying off.

at the rate we humans are going we are probably going to be extinct within the next 100 or 200 years. remember we are the ones dying not the earth - the earth has survived for millions of years. one thing we humans know is that life in almost indestructible not even a world wide nuclear war can kill life.

YumikoSasaki14 6 months ago
Animals will survive, they survived from mass extinction 65 million years ago and look how many animal species have become from those few what survived.
goldbullet50 6 months ago

OK I am a deer hunter (oh joy, more hate mail)
But I will NEVER hunt an endangered species. For me, there is NO purpose for hunting an animal that is in distress population wise. I rather shoot it with my CAMERA.
I shoot it (with gun) I eat it period. I don't sport hunt, nor will I shoot carnivores, I won't eat them. I actually admire wolves and cougars. We need them more then they need us!
If I won't eat it, I won't shoot it. (exception, if animal is rabid or hit by car)
equarg 7 months ago
Now some in the US government want to eviscerate the endangered species act. I told my congressmen and senators that they could cut ANY other program to end the debt. ANY OTHER PROGRAM.
Thatmakessense356 7 months ago
Humans will probably go extinct within the next millions years, after which the planet will reinvigorate itself and new species of organisms would evolve. I'm just wondering, what if there would be other sapient beings who would walk the Earth, say intelligent sapient squids with underwater cities, in 500 million years, I wonder what they would feel when they find out about us... Don't you think that's interesting and mind-boggling?
TheYipedo 7 months ago 23
@TheYipedo we were never really supposed to be this smart, the planet isn't and wasn't perpared for such intelligant creatures, which is why we are having problems now, so I'd highly doubt it unless its from outside influance in which you must ask yourself, are we the result of outside influance? O.o
Visser0x 6 months ago
@TheYipedo Umm. There will never be underwater squid people sorry to say...isn't logical at all.
Karmalooped47 6 months ago
@TheYipedo I'm 90% sure that mankind will fall due it's own intelligence. Even now we are coming even more dependent of internet all the time. In a few hundred/thousand years, when we have cities completely dependent for electricity and stores and other services are totally automatic, 90% of humans live in the cities and then, when eg. meteor strikes and will be a long blackout, all that will fall, cant buy or do anything because automatics are down and we don't know how to farm/hunt anymore.
goldbullet50 6 months ago
@goldbullet50 Good point, although I'm sure that some of us will survive it. If such a catastrophe would happen, approximately 99.99% of the population might indeed be decimated, but the only way for us to go completely extinct (bear in mind that even 100 people can repopulate the entire planet) is for the food chain to collapse, like what happened to the dinosaurs.

@TheYipedo Humans extinct within the next millions of years.... LOL
This planet is half dead NOW. We are not going to survive another 200 years.
Every year more and more species go into the darkness of extinction
and thats bad news for everyone.
sodrogam 4 months ago
@sodrogam Well, I was extending it to the "best case scenario" for humans; 200 years is within 1 million anyway. And no, 200 is too soon. I'm not denying the fact that shit is going to break down pretty soon due to overpopulation and such, but we're talking about extinction here. It doesn't matter if 6 billion people would die tomorrow; a few million is way more than enough to sustain the human race, so a few hundred years is too little to exterminate humans, at least in my opinion.
TheYipedo 4 months ago
@TheYipedo its actually been said that Humans could become extinct in 100-200 years
judgeman090 3 months ago
@judgeman090 Unlikely. A major disaster that would wipe out ~20-99% of the species maybe; but to become extinct, you have to remember that there has to be a complete and total destructing for a species as adaptable, smart and technologically advanced as us to disappear. And btw, even 1% of the human population is 70 million people, that's a LOT.
TheYipedo 3 months ago

@damienfeb01 . Are you fucking kidding me? NO. Rhinos were not made and put on this earth so we can execute them and sell them. Wild animals such as tigers or lion were not put on this earth to be poached to the point of being close to being an endangered species. You a good example why half the ignorant human population should die off, and the worl would probably be a lot better off.

AllNamesRntAvailable 7 months ago 3
@FreshFlow1000 Fucking idiot...natural predators are very unlikely to hunt its prey to extinction...
The rare times when the predator hunts its prey to extinction is when the prey is newly introduced(not native to the land). And as far as i know, the majority of these introductions are due to human travel. Even then, its very rare. example: Norwegian rats are far bigger than native north american rats, but north american rats are still around, but in very small numbers.
go attend your classes...

ClubmotionCrew 8 months ago
@beans8026 I'm okay with hunting, just not hunting an endangered species. I only hate poachers. I eat animals, but just ones that most people eat like cows, pigs, and chicken. I'm not all for hunting and I would never do it, but I'm okay with other people hunting.
ClubmotionCrew 8 months ago
@ClubmotionCrew I never hunted but if it's like well-populated animals I'll be okay, but as soon as it hits 50 000 they should stop. We made the tigers go from 100k to only 5k in like 5 centuries, imagine what else humans will do. And I am a prescatarian but perfectly okay with what you eat and other people.
