  • It is entirely possible if America consolidated it's school standards to ONE system. It would work. If it was mandated at the federal level. Left to themselves some states will do okay but others will lag behind. One teacher I had made this suggestion.

  • @MrJapper88 And there are also minorities that hate white people. theres racism towards everyone

  • In the USA alone you know there are 170 million White people who hate minorities and do not want to live with them under the same flag so just let the white people have their own part of the USA and never go there and bug them ever again.

  • where's the rest of it!!!

  • Students aren't "empty vessels" that need to be indoctrinated with useless facts. Education should be about teaching the student to be able to learn for him or herself not "filling their heads" with things they'll forget the next day.

  • I live in Virginia, we take these big test called SOLs at the end of the year. I would like to know if any or state takes them.Btw we need to pass them in order to graduate from high school. -______________- pointless. I hate this state

  • I live in West Virginia and I go to a private school. I can barely communicate with a good portion of the public school kids. It's fucked up.

  • Everyone is to blame, from principals, to kids, to teachers, to bad parenting and everything. The kids DO want to learn no matter how crappy their system gets.

  • @Hperman09

I would have to disagree with you. Most kids in my high school could not give a shit, they just want to smoke weed and fuck all day (which does sound fun, but then you become a burnout).

  • The problem with education is simple, it has nothing to do with this. Its the parents. If you are a parent and enforce discipline on your kid and put the fear of God into him to listen to the teacher, try hard, be respectful, do your homework, and in short be somebody, they will. Thats assuming you start at a very early age. If, on the other hand you let the kid run wild and act like a animal, thats what you get. We've got an increasing # of wild animals running around looking for excuses.

  • @74CorvStingray while parents do play a powerful role in the very essance of a child, and if they dont do their jobs as a parent then they negate what school teach,But its also important that teachers be able to teach.Which is becoming less and less of the case. we have to remember for 6-7 hours a day 5 days a week for 12 years teachers are the guardians of our children and with so much legal limitation they basically become babysitters that we blame for our kids being uneducated

  • I actually take a jab at America public education..by heavily criticize my university and was awarded with low grades, bombardment of hiss and unfair treatment from the professors.

and I have to pay for it....it is a pity for me and America.

  • You are also forgetting something, of certain right i.e. woman right to work? if they don't go to school, who will baby sit them? their mother have to go to work!

and so the focus of a public education these days are to keep kids in school efficiently, safely, and effectively. It is no longer their job to educate the kids so they do better exams than the Chinese...if they wanted to do better they should go to a private school, take prep courses, go further into college to advance the field.

  • @UnitedPebbles That may be true of the lower class, My mother worked thats for sure. but its still the schools job to educate the children. Honestly if mothers are working its probably becuase their having trouble affording the house. let alone private school. as far as prep courses tracking makes sure elementary students dont go near that and by highschool the kids are convinced their worthless and dont even try anymore. theres no easy route in the series of walls we've set up

  • The problem is with the federal government interferring with education. The federal government has no role in education and directly violates the constitution to get involved. The movie implies that parents, local school boards and states are just to stupid to educate children. However, if you really dig into our public schools, you will find that most of the nonsense stems from federal requirements.

  • @davidapoland I can understand disproval with the goverment. but if you think about it. a goverment is a group of people ment to make desitions to better the nation as a whole while we do our part to sustain us all. like a group of survivers just on a continental level. basically its mainly the goverments job to provide education. its just gotten to a point where we the voting mass that gets to tell the goverment no. have gotten lazy in our civil dutys and let this mess get so out

  • @TheDeAxiom of hand. its a combination of the goverments duty to provide and our duty to approve. This movie doesnt quite imply it more states that over the years an abundance of legislation that arose from us shouting "fix it" and them saying back "how bout this?" and just going for it. what needs to be done is all the current laws in place need to be reviewed, revised, and the unnecessary ones be thrown out.

There's your problem right there. The movie portrays school as a teacher teaching students, while the students do little to no work at all. Students have no real responsibility in their education, so they don't put as much effort into it as they should. The reason that Asia is beating us in math and the sciences is that they actually work hard - a lot of our students don't.

  • @mbabitt I feel your slightly off mark there, while anyone learns better when they take learning on themselves. We still better from one another rather than on our own. you cant tell me you learned everything you know 100% on your own without anyone showing you how to do anything ever. this video is explaining that teachers should just be able to teach. not being told to teach something, but not teach to much, but students should pass a test, but dont spend so much time on the subject.

  • I have to agree, though i do not believe in the testing I went through it was the opposite for me where I drove north to Vermont to get my high school diploma. The teachers were so impressed by my knowledge from my Florida education, they turned around and let me take a few classes plus my senior project .. Before I moved from Florida, my grades were awesome.. straight A's in all subjects, it was the stupid HSCT test for the diploma that stop me. so I went back to my home state in Vermont!

  • in the 80s it was head start. in the 90s there was no child left behind. sumwhere in between we lossing ground. schools dont work. home school.

  • booo federalist propaganda.

  • Education is NOT the filling of a bucket, but the lighting of a fire.

  • Any more?

  • @TravistheHuman If you want to see the whole documentary then look for 'Waiting For Superman', it is available on DVD now..
