Nice vid, thanks for sharing. Just some questions, what mic are you using and how much, I've been thinking of getting one to do voice overs? Also, I've eaten ray before, why can't you eat 'em and why can't you spear one, is it state law? mahalo.
@FreeDivingHawaii They are given protection by the Convention on Migratory Species, although they are not listed as endangered by the IUCN (their status is "vulnerable"). I don't know who's in charge of enforcing that. Mainly though people would just think you're a punk for killing one. They sell stingray in Chinatown. On a side note, I saw something once from NOAA citing the spotted eagle ray as among the most abundant fish on Hawaii's reefs on a biomass basis.
@FreeDivingHawaii I have one that goes on my camcorder, it was like $40 on eBay. The one I hadn't used for awhile is a "Blue Snowball." It's not my favorite. My best one requires phantom power and XLR. I have to run it through a pre-amp, although I saw a product that claims to be able to condense all this stuff into one little USB adapter. Maybe after I get some lighting I'll try that!
