that is true. These big warbirds have to be flown in, not idle throttle and glide it like the small little dinky airplanes.

You could not be more right.
The bigger problem was the elevator to flap mixing was wrong and I had to approach holding about 30 degree down elevator. Not good for the flair.
Good news, all fixed and re-flown-on utube-Symes'p38 second flight.

well, these 40+ pounds airplanes need to be flown in to the landing. just chop the throttle do not work.
btw, both engines run in the same direction...
