Fighters should be judged on their fight record only. BJ might be exciting but he has a bad fight record therefore not elite. He has a 2-1 ratio. Most definately not top ten, not in reality anyhow.
As far as records show. Anderson has the same number of wins and losses as Fedor has. Fedor has an advantage because he has an extra fight which was a draw. Anderson beats Fedor p4p by achieving this feat in a much better organization - the UFC. And Anderson even holds most UFC records. He's never been knocked out and he beat Hendo, something Fedor can't do.

A great pound for pound fighter will or has fought at many different weights, winning titles and defeating formidable opponents. That is why BJ Penn is always his answer for best P4P. Georges only fights at welterweight, Fedor only at HW, granted he is small for the division.

When you walk around heavier than all your opponents (220 lbs) and you have to cut to (185lbs), your body is naturally gonna want to get back to that size as soon as possible. That is why I would bet he is a good 10lbs heavier than all his opponents (at fight time) because of his natural weight. And 10lbs heavier at that weight is a huge difference.

As far as records show. Anderson has the same number of wins and losses as Fedor has. Fedor has an advantage because he has an extra fight which was a draw. Anderson beats Fedor p4p by achieving this feat in a much better organization - the UFC. And Anderson even holds most UFC records. Not right now at least, since the fighters don't all compete against each other across organizations. Until that happens or there is a giant one that houses all the fighters (probably UFC in the future), they can't call themselves the best. But Joe talks the right way when referring to UFC fighters - he usually says "one of the best" or "some of the best", unlike Dana.

Fedor has more wins against top 10 fighters then any other fighter in the world. Funny thing is, before he fought Tim Sylvia, he was ducking him. After he fought him, he sucks (top HW at the time). Then comes Arlovsky, top 2 at the time, he beats in the first round, the guy sucks. Then came Brock, the dancing queen, who can't take a punch. It seems that Fedor has been ducking UFC HW's champion by almost 10 years, every time a new one appears, according to Zuffa fans...

When you walk around heavier than all your opponents (220 lbs) and you have to cut to (185lbs), your body is naturally gonna want to get back to that size as soon as possible. That is why I would bet he is a good 10lbs heavier than all his opponents (at fight time) because of his natural weight. And 10lbs heavier at that weight is a huge difference.

Strikeforce has some good heavyweights and 5 out of the 10 top heavyweight in the world right now are from strikeforce in the recent rankings...even Josh Barnett fell into the 10th spot! I don't believe that Anderson Silva is the best pound for pound fighter. If you look at the rankings, no other middleweight is on the top 10. this shows that the middleweight division is lacking top fighters. i believe that gsp, shogun, and brock lesnar could beat anderson silva. after the chael sonnen fight it really showed silva's weakness to wrestling. gsp and brock are outstanding wrestlers. and i believe shogun is more of a well rounded fighter than anderson

Unfortuneatly the fight never come to be. Also Arlovski left the UFC on a 3 fight win streak and fought in strikeforce beating ben rothwell and roy nelson there before getting a shot at Fedor.

When anderson silva fights he comes out untouched, when fedor fights he bruised a bloodied. Anderson silva may not be the best pound for pound fighter but neither is fedor. MMA is so unpredictable that anyone can win at anytime with a good solid punch, but It's a lot harder to hit anderson silva than it is to hit fedor.
