  • A little heavy on the sound effects. I find this scene annoying.

  • meh.

  • That is MAD AS I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • boooo.... event horizon, alien, dark city, akira...... I can name a bajillion better scenes

  • Totally illogical. I cannot see a single thing bc of this overedited video...

  • Best sci fi animation scene ever is a grand over-statement. Dislike.

  • @ijzerkoekie i have now changed the title a bit.

  • @kimsoerensen Oh wow, I expected a harsh comeback, I totally agree with the title now! Hit the Like button :-)

  • @ijzerkoekie That's a bit harsh mate! This is quality!

  • @Rich7714 The title used to say "best" or "greatest" sci fi animation ever, I have seen better ones sorry. The title now reflects the video more accurately I think.

  • But if you want to rip me apart - check out my "Trance Drive" video - probably the worst patch job ever :-D LOL. I just pasted some video scenes together - the beginning is too long and boring and so on. I am a fair critic!

  • That's what's wrong with today's so-called movies. Special effects, special effects, special effects...., special effects! And after that...., special effects! Computer crap! One long video game! You know which star has had the biggest dressing room in the last fifteen years? Special Effects!

  • @valflyinf

I believe that's what he just said...

While it's possible you could hear it in a gas cloud in space, it would not stay concentrated enough to transmit a sound for more than a few seconds.

  • Please take a look to my shortfilm watch?v=Jqq2xwHpklI

Sc fi, real actors and 3d backgrounds in antarctica.

  • insert it deep inside, release, chaos reign, then pull it out again.

  • Considering this movie was made in '03, the CGI is really impressive. Props to the artists!

  • One scene looked as if the blast doors closed on someone partway through. I would have liked a better description of what I'm seeing. A very large spaceship crashing?

  • stupid

  • OK. As for the sound. Sound is a pressure wave which travels particles. And everyone knows that space is a vacuum. However, if there was a gaseous medium present in the area of space shown in the animation (Which is highly likely considering there is loads of futuristic crap there), then there will be the possibility of forming pressure waves by 'shocking' it in some way

  • seeing that this is nothing more than just insanely heavy graphics, particles, shaders, reflections and sounds all at the same time.... I'm inclined to think it's just a benchmark for GFX cards :P

  • totally incredible :)

  • I have absolutely no idea what was going on but I like it :)

  • fukken lameass

  • Unfortunately the rest of the movie is quite lame.... thanks for uploading this part though.

  • There's sound in space you just can't hear it.

  • awesome, wonderful !

    who make this ?

  • Pretty cool...

  • there's no sound in space

  • @KappaEffect This is not entirely true, in a nebula cloud there is sound...

  • @CJMilsey bring me a souvenir the next time you visit a nebula

  • @KappaEffect so turn your speakers off and youve got your super realistic sci-fi animation;]

  • @KappaEffect smart ass.

  • @KappaEffect

A trailer with no sound would have been fun dont you think? Im gonna make a space game with no sounds at all :) HAPPY?

  • @KappaEffect

The ship clearly is inside a nebula.

  • @KappaEffect Unless the ear or microphone and the sound emitting source are both situated inside a gas, liquid, or solid..(like on earth) Highly likely around an exploding space station. gas and atmosphere leaks everywhere and traveling around objects flying off the station, thus transmitting their sound to a listening entity..

I might add that light can travel through space because light is energy while sound needs a medium to travel through and is a vibration. This is why you go to class :)

  • @KappaEffect It'd be mighty boring if there was no sound =P

  • @KappaEffect Mute button is there for a reason.

  • Mass Effect 3 will pwn this video!

  • whats this from?

  • @BigR3DRocket Learn to read man, really.

  • Meeeeeeanwhileeeeeeee in the SuperBestFriends base.....

  • this was ok i guess was expecting more than a space station exploding when it said best animation ever

  • Well actrually , as for the sound thing .. i rather like how the game EVE exsplains how and why there is sound in space, the Ships computer picks up on the vibrations of the Item makeing sound and Translates it in to a coherrent pattern that the ear can understand for the user to beter understand what it is thats going on around them ... perhaps this is the case with this Starship

  • whoever made this has not done a good job with the whole sounds and tremors in space thing..

  • Epic. This is what I pictured when the Star Wars animated series was announced... :(

  • Wasn't that the super bowl trophy in the middle of that thing?

  • ehauheauheau because nobody wants to see movie without sounds heauheauheauehauhueahuaehauheuaheuaheuaehau Pwoned !

  • I've seen better CG in 1998.

  • :25 you can all say cuck norris did that by sneezeing

  • I really like Stargate: Universe's special effects. They're nice and pretty, but still managing to have a touch of realism. That one early episode where they were desperately trying to get the shuttle back on the Destiny before she jumped was great.

The show does a good job at showing space's beauty and horrors.

  • @Shodex SG:U is trying to hard to be like Battlestar Galactica IMO. That show had it perfect.

  • @FandomRuck Maybe thats my advantage, I've never gotten around to watch Battlestar. So, for me Universe is "fresh" and "new".

  • ya, that's a tough call.

  • i watched this for the first time high, and i was so confused. What the fuck is this and where is it from?

  • so,,,, this is a movie??

  • so far my favorite scifi movie effects are in the movie serenity :)

  • So....cloud beats space station?

  • 1:26 - 1:33

kinda reminds me of the pc game Prey

  • jaws in space.... i think so :D

  • Where i can buy BD? Want to see that in HD quality.

  • Comment removed

  • the sounds in space are like sore thumbs. nice visuals, but bad sound

  • omg the worst animation ever...

  • WOW i bought this one at Blockbuster! it was a good CGI movie (I love independant CGI flicks) ths one was great!

  • Someone put this up in HD pls

  • Is this a movie trailer or what? If it is, it may just be the 'Must See' of the century (if the production company gets real writers on board with a director that understands space opera. I know of a production company that would love to try to work with that clip if at all possible.

  • wicked to watch but i dont understnad the plot... but anything with a spacestation exploding in space has gotta be good. :P

  • Pretty cool. But I've seen better.

  • Fucking bad ass.

  • I'm looking for an animator. You interested?

  • Cool scene - You looking for this type of work? I'm trying to get a project of the ground. Interested?/

  • Starcraft 2 puts in a clear contender for some of the best graphics ever in a sci-fi animation. Unless of course we're talking movies only XD

  • @stoogemoedude

uhh I played a 3rd person sc2 mod and the graphics were like doom 1 or something

    you fail pretty hard

  • @ChimeraProd Did you even play the goram campaign? The graphics in there were amazing.

  • What exactly happened to that ship?

  • @SwordsmanMercenary I could be wrong - But I think it was a black hole

  • @ZingbatStew You could be right especially at 1:49.

  • Its only briliand... It tells a little story.. Great!

  • is that the black smoke monster from lost? wtf

  • creis's nightcllub

  • Well, i understand....

  • Please, tell me, what is it, i don't understand, thus Mass effect?

  • Man, if this was in 1080p...SICK.

    Still cool though.

  • is it supposed to be the black smoke... in space??

  • Is the movie any good?

  • personally i think the best and most expensive one would've been in the first Iron Man movie where he tests all the control surfaces on his suit

  • hunt club

  • very intense i love it

  • i wish they woud make more matuer cgi animated movies (like pg-13 or r rated ones) most of them are for kids they shoud make a cgi movie out of the parasite eve game it shoud be made by square who made the final fantasy movies this woud most likely get a r raeting for gore and nudity they shod also make a dantes inferno cgi hollywood flim out of the game insted of a 2d japanese animated antholagy derct to video

  • The infamous egg beater drive.

  • Amazing! So many elements and effects.

  • Awesome! Two-thumbs up!

  • Comment removed

  • its like lost's smoke monster in space

  • Never see n this movie, looks good tho.

  • Agreed, wicked graphics!

  • xrisse's club

  • wow - a LOT of work went into this. nice.

  • good animation but am i nuts or actually i AM hearing things in space? its weird but still feels natural for some reason

  • @EXHellfire lol yeah I know, I hate that.

  • kinda weird, but as everyone has heard sound in space movies, it feels familiar now

  • I liked the sounds. Awesome Anim! Keep it up!!

  • No sound in space retard.

  • @AmericanFighter1212 Would you really appreciate a proper graphics scene in space.... with no sound? :(

  • @ChainsawGutsFuck 2001 obeyed physics

  • dead space and mass effect 2 managed to do it well.

  • great animation, not the best detailed

  • Am I the only one wondering why they put sound in space?

  • because nobody wants to see a movie without sounds.

  • The new Star Trek movie did a very good job of it. The space scenes were great, even though they didn't have sound. It may be sci-fi, but it can still cohere to the laws of physics. By sounds, I assume you mean explosions and bullets whizzing past and the whole dealy. Plenty of people enjoy that sort of film. In fact there are entire genres that coexist with sci-fi that lack such "sounds" as you so bluntly put it.

  • There was definitely sound in space in the new Star Trek movie. They did omit sound in space in certain sections for dramatic effect though.

  • 2001: A Space Odyssey.

    #76/250

  • @kimsoerensen *ehem* 2001

  • @kimsoerensen except me

  • @kimsoerensen not true

  • @kimsoerensen with the exception of any charlie chaplin film ;)

  • @kimsoerensen 2001, man. I'll take some Blue Danube over stock space combat sounds any day.

  • @wavedash101 You, sir, are a man of quality.

  • Watch Firefly and Serenity if you wanna see some very good scenes in space without any sound (except for the intercom).

  • @flotsamthespork No you are not alone

  • @flotsamthespork We're not all that anal.

  • @flotsamthespork i want wondering it but now that you mention it is kinda fucked

  • @weponized that is the worst grammer ever.

  • @XANDERXXZ i think i was drunk when i wrote that lol

  • @XANDERXXZ And you spelled grammar wrong. Nice.

  • haha, but im dyslexic so i got an excuse, and i did have to look up how to spell dyslexic.

  • @flotsamthespork Why do you have tobe THAT guy? Swear there's always one.

  • @flotsamthespork ...I hate it when they do that! Ruins the realism eh!

  • @flotsamthespork EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT IN THE SPACE CANT BE SOUND, BUT A MOVIE WOTHOUT SOUND COULD BE BORED SO, COOL SOUNDS IN THE SPACE NO MATTER WHAT A NERD SAYS

  • @flotsamthespork BHAHAHAH!!!!

  • @flotsamthespork

It pains me greatly to defend this most annoying tendency of putting sound in space, but the scientist in me wants to point out that they clearly display the nebulae/atmosphere, and so the wooshing sounds are entirely acceptable under physics for most of the scene.

  • @FiverBeyond and besides that...who gives a crap, try watching battlestar galactica and pressing mute every time it goes into space.....boring as hell lmfao

  • @flotsamthespork I'm looking for an animator. interested? Tv series or film.

  • There is one exception: 2010 A Space Odessey...

  • @flotsamthespork if there's enough particles of debris or nebulae gas, you can still hear things, but it's be really blurry sounding. space isn't completely empty

  • @P5L1394 Does sound not need a medium to move through?

  • @flotsamthespork yes you are

  • Is the spaceship being attack by a unknown power from a galaxy far far away?

  • @flotsamthespork movies are not about realism, they are about impact.

  • @flotsamthespork They are clearly in a nebula, where there is moving gas, which would carry the vibrations required for sound.

  • This is technical masturbation. You can tell they're trying way too hard.

  • The scene's complex, but bigger isn't necessarily better.

  • Five years ago sure, it's ok. The movie was a little weak though.

  • Interesting, from a purly technical perspective of course

  • i wouldnt say this is the best sci fi scene, but that depends on [Word_Input_needed]

  • It's a cool scene, but the best? Not by a long shot!

  • Hmm...Interesting movie...I liked it!

  • It would be the best if it is amateur made.. totally..

  • Meh, Ramming a BC-304 Daedalus class Starship into a hive ship and having that ship explode taking out the other two hive ships in the area is 300x more epic than this =/..... hell everything in StarGate is more epic than this.... the freaking Kwoosh that they show everytime the gate opens is more epic than this....

at first i thought it was simmilar to the end of portal when you learn that the cake actauly wasnt a lie.... but it infact WAS a lie....

  • Hmf, it's a bit cheesy to call it the best SF animation ever.

For example, take a look at WALL-E to see far better sci-fi animations.

  • there is only one word that can describe the complex and intricate emotions that have been awakened within me by this animation:

    woah!

  • Strange and chaotic :/

  • What the hell did I just watch?

  • wow nice

  • wow.... awesome

  • I'd heard of the title but thought it was a video game. After watching this I checked out the trailer and it looks great, thanks!

  • Crap - You win - it is the best sci-fi animated scene ever!

  • tis shit i say

  • Very nice. A good dramatic opening scene to a scifi story I have in my mind. :)

  • OMG so big

  • thats what she said :)

  • cool video, thanks for sharing

  • It is from the movie Kaena the Prophecy

  • This vid's awesome, what movie is this from and make more
