reall? category 7?....thats winds 195 + which in return needs about 90 degree water. and the water is warmest in september and even then its only about 75 degrees......if anything we will get a cat 3 storm....which will still leave us underwater.
NYC is highly unlikely to ever experience a cat 5 hurricane. Cat 5's need everything to be perfect to exist. Warm water temps around 85 degreesor higher not only at the surface, but well below and low wind shear aloft. The only way I could ever see this possibly occuring is if the hurricane rode the Gulf stream every step of the way up and the north atlantic waters were well above normal to begin with. But I do think a category 3 is definitely a reallistic threat to NYC in our lifetime.
@chopperswordsman but it might be Irene aswell this year .. cause those storms werent really anything major. and neither is Irene but Irene is stronger then hannah and Ike was for NYC atleast .

nono guys lol hanna is just a tropical storm. Nothing happend it hit nyc yesterday. Ike may be the next hurricane to hit nyc

Every 70 year a hurricane hits ny so its 1938 that the last one hit so 2008 is the next year is IKE the one to hit ny lol?
