In my DJ'ing time I've only played out 2 times without head phones. I had to use the monitors in the booth and keep the other track very very low so only I could notice and not the club.
On CDJs the auto bpm counter helps a shit ton but on (unmarked) vinyl, no, you need earphones... Unless you rockin the Scratch Live baby! Then you can mix drunk, high and deaf, haha
