  • 6:57 Toasty!! xD

  • I guess you lot out there that keep bashing the Mega Drive port don't know what real music sounds like?

The Mega Drive MK ports are the only ports to have full realistic drums and percussion in them while all the other ports suck ass with shitty compressed percussion.

  • @RetrowareTV you forgot something about the genesis version you could perform a furgalitiy you have to be Rayden in the armoury you had to perform a babalitity look it up im serious

  • WHAT ABOUT THE FERGALITY

  • @TheROBReviews i know was it intentional or not or an inside joke

  • did you set the genesis to 6 button?

  • 1 Thing.... you forgot MK II PS3 port

  • @Rackon874 This video purposely only covers the original classic console ports. Plus the PS3 version really is an emulated version of the arcade game, not really a true port. Obviously those emulated arcade versions ala PS3/, midway Arcade treasures xbox/ps2 etc are better than the classic ports mentioned in this video.

  • why not use those costumes for the movies instead either having them look stupid in new costumes or not even giving them their costume hence liu kang, raiden, shao kahn, and hell even kitana but no i guess we will never see that. (i was talking bout annihilation)

  • Mortal friday ?

    should have been fatality friday

  • the genesis version is worse not because of the hardware's limitations but poor programming...Look at what they did for mk3 & umk3 versions. They both have twise the content mk2 had.

  • i had the snes/genesis and gameboy version of mk in '94 when i was in fourth grade. i even played the gameboy version while in class.

  • mk2 on genesis or 32x is my fav, they're both really great

  • wow thanks for bring back my child hood best critics ever cheers from canada

  • WoW these guys are real my fave game critics thanks for bringing my child hood back cheers form canada

  • I have been playing the Genesis port of Mortal Kombat II and I must say it is better than I initially thought. You mentioned the Genesis was getting old at the point MK2 was released. This is true as the Genesis was actually 2 years older than the SNES, with the Gen being released in 1988 and the SNES 1990. This basically means the Genesis was already about 5 years old when MK2 was released while the SNES was only 3 years old. Have to give the Genesis props for turning out such a good port.

  • Shao Kahn looks more bad ass without him being a pixelized video looking character and kitana and her hot ass and wrack look better not pixilied

  • I can probably understand why you didn't bother to have a look at the MAT2 version of MK2, since it sbasically just the arcade version ona PS2/Xbox/Gamecube

  • Ever version of MK II I played.....

Arcade (on PS2), Super Nintendo, Game Boy, Sega 32X and Sega Genesis (both on the Fusion Sega emulator).

least favorite to favorite of those ports...

    -Game Boy

    -Sega Genesis

    -Sega 32X

    -Super Nintendo

    -Arcade

  • 32x wins every time best sound fx slightly faster and improved gameplay over the megadrive, and of course better graphics. the characters look very similar to the saturn port, only slightly smaller i think the reviewer cant tell his arse from his elbow because he grew up with the snes.

  • Umm, I had both versions and the SNES far surpassed the Genesis version.

  • yeah i liked the genesis version best too

  • GENESIS ROCKED

    Genesis: 8 mehahrtz processor

    Snes: 2.5 megahrtz processoor

    Genesis: 10 sound channels

    Snes: 8 sound channels

the Genesis was even capable of smaller pixles than the Snes

  • @Alevamltd Maybe, but that still doesn't change the fact that snes had the best games. Even back then Sega was having to rely on the technical specs of the system in order to sell it, while Nintendo sold more simply by having better games that were more fun. Better graphics and such don't necessarily make for better games. Gamers were smart enough to realize that and it's why the SNES pwned it by 9.1 million sales, even though it was released up to 4 years after the Genesis in some markets.

  • wait wait wait... at 5.45 their is a big Failure

  • hey if u want the time that you want people to see you do this: 5:45 it will allow other people to speed directly to the wanted time simply by clicking on it

  • I love mortal kombat II. I think that it is one of the best fighting games of all time.

  • But not the most technical.

Mortal Kombat is great but I don't think it compares to other fighters but I love the MIK mythos.

  • ok this is the best mortal kombat game there is nothing bad about this game it was good on all consoles it was awesome on the super nintendo and gameboy the gameboy, super nintendo, and arcade are the best ports of this game in my opinion

  • if the snes had the more detailed character graphics the genesis had it would have been the perfect port.

  • the sns vedrsion was always better than the genesis

  • the genesis version had cleaner character graphics. Other than that, the snes is better.

  • Mortal Kombat II I like to think of as not just as the last great Mortal Kombat before it and Midway which went downhill but as the last big arcade game that people really anticipated before the arcades started dying 1-2 years later. I remember when MKII came out, people would line the block just to play it. When Trilogy came out and the next gen systems had games like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy, the arcade scene never recovered which is sad.

  • Haha LOL at 6:30 That is one right in the nuts for Jax XD

  • The arcade version is the best. Best graphics and best sounding music. The bgm in Goro's Lair in the arcade version is awesome.

I didn't like what they did with the PS2 [MK Shaolin Monks and Midway Arcade Treasures 2] version where you can't fight Smoke because when you press start, the game pauses. Only select should've been the pause button.

  • I don't think there has been a console as good as the snes.

  • GOD BLESS THE SUPERNINTENDO!!!!

  • If you somehow prefer the Genesis version over the SNES version.. then you must not like the arcade version of the game since the SNES version is without a doubt closer to the arcade game than the Genesis version.

  • I like how Shao Khan says "Oh!" in the SNES version.

  • I just recently got the 32X version of the game, and even though it's identical to the Genesis version, the 32X seems to have more detail, allthough I'm still uncertain as to which version of the game is the best.

  • I never knew they had a Japanese version of this game, I wonder why they edited it?

  • It doesn't really matter which version of MKII you had for any console. The game itself plays faithfully true to its arcade game. Heck, even the Game Boy version of MKII plays great and usually a Mortal Kombat game on a Game Boy system sucks(ex: MK1, MK3, MK4, MK: Advance), but not MKII.

  • i have mortal kombat 2 for sega genesis and i love it

  • MK 2 is also on the Gamecube, PS2, and Xbox versions of Midway Arcade Treasures, but albeit a few problems with the port.

  • Mortal Kombat 2 is the best, too!

  • midway arcade treasure's verison of MK 2 is so HARD i can't beat it

  • @mastershak3416 Its fun

  • Mortal Kombat 2 is the best

  • Oh by the way the version of MK2 that i currently own is not the same for PS1 , the game i got was for PS2 and it came with a bunch of other games in one cd called MIDWAY ARCADE TREASURES, and its basically the original version

  • nice review, i really enjoyed it, yea i remember back in the 90's super nintendos version was better, at least it thought it was, because i owned the genesis version and the music, soundbytes, kinda bothered me, cause i always had to go back to the arcade and play lol. i just got MK2 for PS2 the arcade version and its beyond amazing

  • all right, here is my review on the MK 2 ports, Sega Genesis: 10.10/10, Super Nintendo Entertainment System: 9.5/10, Sega Master System 0.1/10, Gameboy: 5.6/10, Game Gear: 7/10, Sega 32X: 8.2/10, Sega Saturn 9.1/10 and the Arcade one: 11/10.

  • lol kintaro same size as scorpion on master system

  • lol kintaro same size as scorpion on master system

  • 6:29 :)

  • 4:30 I See Jade Behind The Tree

  • Acclaim didn't make the game, they just published it. Sculptured Software did the ports.

  • You are correct, we were unsure on weither to say Acclaim or Sculpted software for the review but after seeing a interview with Ed Boon, one of the creators of the series refer to how Acclaim handled the ports of MK we decided to just say Acclaim.

  • nice review Ito 10\10

  • there is a stroy at the beginning of the game dumbass, they must stop Shoa Khan

  • Umm dude the reviewer clearly states NOT IN ALL VERSIONS does intro story show up. It's only on some. So ummm who is the dumbass?

  • OMG

  • shao kahn sounds like something out of doom on the snes, lol.

  • really?

  • At first, I was worried about someone doing a review of one of my favorite versions of the Mortal Kombat series (MKII), but then I saw that you guys did it and I knew it would be covered in depth. You guys at RetrowareTV did an Awesome job on it! Congrats! I can't wait to see MK3!

  • you forgot the gameboy, amiga, and the game gear but its of becouse those versions sucked by the way awesome vid

  • The Game Gear version is pretty much the same as the Master System game. With the Gameboy, well... they did the best that they could.
