sona + graves is a brutal combo that demands hard CC and a heal, nunu has neither

taric would have been the ideal pick, graves is heavy physical damage and sona powercord iis also physical damage, perfect armor aura to help counter the huge AOE burst from graves.

graves range is short, making him vulnerable to dazzle stuns.

graves damage both laners at once with his AOE abilities, taric heals both people at the same time.

sivir has an attackspeed reset and supplies her own attackspeed, taric gives free AD is way more valuable than nunus free attackspeed in this situation.

sivir has a skillshot that deals tons of damage, a properstun would be a free boomerange balde hit.

i guess he thought the needs of his team outweigh the needs of his carry, which in all fairness, nunu does compliment sivir quite well (maybe not as well as talric, but you get my point)

@gameguy301 maybe because they fuilt nunu had much more in a teamfight. In a teamfight, taric has that one stun, that one heal, and then the aurua. Nunu has permafrost basically to keep the assasins peeled off the carry. His bloodboil is also basically permanant, and his ultimate will either do massive damage, or at least slow and blow off enemy cooldowns.
