i am yet to know if there are any faults (sound control etc...) as i am giving it another hour just to make sure it is dry inside before i play around with it. (forgot to say my pin went in when i tested the screen ok, and all icons came up and could be selected as norm, but quickly turned it back off to give it the hour more drying time).
thats after 5 mins fully submerged in water with fairy liquid.
My ipod 4th gen was in water for over 5 mins. It was dead> i surrounded it in rice (screen up) for two days. tried it on charge but it was still dead. so i set it infront of my hair dryer around two feet away, and left it there on a medium heat (ipod did not get hot just a little warm) for over 1 hour, i tried it not expecting anything to happen, but it did start up, although the touch screen was not responding. i left it again infront of the dryer for another hour & screen is working------->
omfg this happened to me today (worst day of my life) also mine's a 5th generation ipod nano i got it last christmas too its my life i swear im putting it in a bowl of rice over night hopefully it works well i can't live without my music :/
@JRGZZ20 That just happened to mine yesterday(it still works but theres a butt-load of water in the screen)..but when i put it in a bowl of rice over night, the water isnt coming out of the screen..did it work for you?
@BryZhane kinda, when i connect it to the computer or just to charge it the apple logo appears but when its done like turning on i guess, the screen goes black and i just scroll down to shuffle songs..the speakers work like new but when i connect the earphones and turn up the volume, it gets all staticy..and im not sure if the battery maintains charge:/ i called apple and they said they can replace it for 90 bucks
I just salvaged my ipod too! 3rd gen ipod nano. I knew it went into the washing machine totally turned off, I found w/ water totally seeping out of it. I put it in a tupperware container w/ rice for about 5 days W/O trying to turn it on (the biggest problem w/ saving electronics is shorting out a circuit). Then I I plugged it into a wall charger and it worked perfectly! Ol' faithful lives on!
@eXTreemator your an idiot you put it in a bag of brown rice keep it in the and then after 1 week it'll work fine. My brothers iPhone went through the washer and after a week it was fine never disassemble a wet device if you don't want to be electricuted.
it will die soon, dont worrry=) never turn on devices that were in the water! You will destroy it. Dissembling and some soft cleaning is light recommended
hey the same thing happened with my ipod nano 3rd gen and it was with the darks so there was no bleach i didnt put it in the dryer i put it in rice but the screen wont work AT ALL i want to know wat to do.
my ipod nano 5g was in the washer and dryer i put it in rice for 2 days it works but the screen is kinda friged up and the video camera dont work damn it

goddamit your ipod was in the washer and dryer and it still works....mines was on top of the dryer which was a little wet and mines stopped working and i got the 5th gen... :-( sad face
MAN! I literally just got my ipod out of the washing machine before it was put in the dryer and its the exact same as yours. I currently have it at a distance under a blowdryer and intend to leave it under a lamp as well to dry for a few days.. I really frickin hope that its the 4th generation ipods that work after this shit as i have heard many stories of 2nd and 3rd generation ipods not working afterwards.. does your ipod still work man??? Ill never go a day without checking my pockets again!
oh no thats just because there was no life in it to start off with. it turns on and you can switch and play music but you can't go back to the menu. ohh well, at least its better than nothing

it kept making a buzzing noise and wont stop

did you try to turn it on before you plugged it in?
'Cause I did, and i haven't connected it to the computer yet, but I think I already shorted the circuits.
