  • So very excellent.

  • Gracias amigo desde España. Do you like Tarrega? you know Caprice arabe?

All your interpretation are only for music you dont think in the audience, you enjoy while playing and that because its great. I play guitar also :-)

  • Have not heard anyone play this besides John Williams, and I've had this Scarlatti piece in my head (along with half a dozen others) since the early 80's. There's no way to give you proper respect with only words...simply amazing :)

  • thanks a lot. i appreciate it.

  • Yes I agree it's a piece that can really stay with your mind.

Eliot Fisk also recorded it along with 5 other Scarlatti harpsichord sonatas.... but apparently if I mention the album name or thre label this gets Labeled as spam. I assure everyone I have no financial interest in this and was only sharing some info with other music lovers of the Baroque era, enough of the rant ... Troubleclef You are Brilliant!!!!!

  • muchas gracias, amigo. that's all I know how to say in Spanish :) Just keep playing. There's nothing to say you can't play both guitar and piano, right?

  • 1. Great playing.

    2. Great tune.

    3. Great sounding guitar.

  • its awesome...!

  • Hugely talented there !! Respect, sir (I tip my hat)

  • Is that a YES poster on the wall?

  • kinda looks like it but no. It's

  • wooow! congratulations! awesome piece of music!

  • De las mejores interpretaciones en guitarra que oído de esta sonata. Me gusta más que la de John Williams.

  • wow. thanks. that's a big compliment. gracias

  • You play beautifully. Move over Chet Atkins.

  • dude, you inspired me to get out of bed and study for my finals

  • dude, you're a great guitar player

  • dude..... made me cry - doh

  • you are an inspiration to all who aspire to be a classical guitarist. Always, you adhere to the axiom of precision. Tell me please that you don't just play in your room. You must play at some 5-star restaurant in your city, or maybe at the art museum or fancy coffee shop. Don't you?

  • Perfect..

    Nice Dude. Saludos desde Perú

  • Man, i can just say you have talent.

  • thats beautiful,thanks for sharing.

  • I studied classical music for about a year back in the day when I still had a teacher. I wish I had stuck with the technique because I find it much more enjoyable then the jazz direction i went in. This may very well be a starting point for a new initiative to crack out my old books! Thank you! Always a fan of your vids.

  • thanks. i appreciate it. it's always worthwhile to explore as many different styles as appeal to you.

  • Wow! You are very talented! Thank you for sharing.

  • they way you play is amazing

i play as guitar as well but not as perfect as you

  • well i'm not perfect either :D thanks

  • was simply impossible for me to zap. You play so soft and clean!

    congratulations

  • Amazing! :)

  • Jesus... really nice.

Like that other kid said: "Do you wanna be my granpa?"

  • Thanks for sharing this! It is beautiful.

  • This is beautiful... wonderfully played

  • C'est vraiment excellent! J'aimerais en faire autant sur ma guitare... Bravo. :)

  • reminds me of sean connery in "the rock". loosers always whine about their best, winners go home and.... seriously though, nice playing. had to comment because of the connery thing.. think its the beanie..

  • Just beautiful! Thank you!!

  • have you heard Plentnev's interpretation for piano? Do it! It's great! And I am sure it will give you a lot of new ideas to play it with diferent "matices"

  • LOVELY!!!

  • Thanks for being so helpful.

  • Love it! Wonderful. Thank you.

  • beautiful!

  • Wicked playing man...I myself play alot of classical guitar [no videos up :(...] but I have a question about your Hybrid Taylor guitar...

Is the neck smaller than a standard classical guitar neck?...Or is it the same size?...By size I am talking about the width.

  • it has a narrower neck than a standard classical.

    thanks!

  • Ok thank you very much.

  • You have no idea what process this song started for me. I began listening to D. Scarlatti big time, and then a lot of Bach and others. I went from not listening to classical music at all to pretty much only listening to it. It's now 95% of everything I listen to, and I expect it to stay that way for the rest of my life. Small personal revolution, and it all started with this video. :D

  • wow. and i only put this up in early february! but don't stop listening to other stuff 'cause of me!

  • Too late! D. Scarlatti and J.S. Bach now own my soul.

  • So where's your version then?

  • FANTASTIC Job!=D

  • soo touched by your play .

  • Good job ;)

  • molto bravo. complimenti.

    excellent execution.

  • lol

  • are you wearing the hat to keep the hair out of you'r eyes, kidding. great job.

  • it's true! well, that and it was cold that day.

  • ei mr troubleclef, what guitar are you using is it a brazilian or a sakurai???

  • it's a taylor. see video details.

  • ahh i see, never met that brand before but it sound more likely a sakurai to me. the sound is crisp and alive. last question mr troubleclef. are you also a professor or just a musician by your own talent?? i admire most of your vids and the way you play the guitar.

  • Nice sound/guitar, very good playing!

  • thanks!

  • beautiful!

  • Beautiful! If your interested then I have great arrangment for Für Elise on guitar. But I guess you like to figure it out yourself? :) Anyway, Thanks for sharing your videos! They are all very awesome, specielly your Beatles videos.

  • Once again - beautiful. I like baroque / renaissance period style - guitar work.

  • Very nice!

You're inspring, learning that peace now. :)

  • Wonderful performance!

  • Excellent, just excellent! (all the clips!) thank you, would be great to hear you play some Klugh stuff *nakec guitar)CD

y muy buena ejecuciòn tambien felicidades

  • i am constantly amazed at the awesome guitar players i come across on youtube. and this guy is one of the best i've seen; flawless execution, great interpretation. rock on!

  • Nice music - great composer - brilliant interpretation, it's all. Best wishes from Portugal.

  • do you ever play around the boston area? if you do i would love to see you play

  • Like a cool drink of water.

  • brilliant :)

  • I sure don't mind double-posting (albeit in error elsewhere) in an effort to schpress meself.

    Magnificentissimo (again).

And who'd have thunk that you're a damned funny blogger and a literal (or is it figurative?) linguistic virtuoso to boot. :)

P.S. Love da headgear (and the sound of that Taylor).

  • thanks, buddy

  • Wonderful *****

  • how beautiful.

    *****

  • Great work as usual Clef.

BTW: Don't believe your comment regarding creativity ;)

  • nice hat....great playing.

  • dude i only hav 1 thing to say

  • me encanta tu estilo, tu sonido es limpio y dulce. Gracias por compartir tu talento

  • douche? is that french for talented guitar player? or is midirex an obnoxious idiot? maybe its both.

  • ancora i miei più vivi complimenti e grazie per suonare il mio connazionale Domenico Scarlatti

  • Absolutely beautiful, as always.

Question, would learning music theory help me in composing some of my own compositions?.

  • Not bad, but your free stroke tone sounds a bit "thin". Try pushing down onto the string and following through more to get a fatter, louder tone. I suspect in a live setting it would be hard to hear you. Carry on the good work though!

  • I came for the Beatles and Genesis, but I'm staying for this 300 year old stuff!

  • 5 Stars! I enjoyed this one a lot. So much to catch in this song... quite lovely. Thanks for sharing it with us! I would love to see a lot more of this type from you.

  • thanks. I have a "classical" playlist if you check my profile. which reminds me i have to add this one to it.

  • Wonderful!

  • superb !

  • I've listened to this one many times now. Love it! And what's more, you've introduced me to Domenico Scarlatti, which I now have become a great fan of. Thanks.

  • Awesome, I'm loving it!

  • all your videos I've seen so far are just interpretations (don't know if it's written correctly...or let's say covers)BRILLIANT COVERS THO! why don't you make something of your own?

  • I'm not creative.

  • Well, you've amassed a small army of arrangements of great songs that people may be experiencing for the first time because of you, which certainly is a creative process.

    Love 'For Absent Friends', BTW.

Rosslyn? Still got those sheets waitin'. LOL

  • thanks. and, i *do* have 3 short originals up.

but also, would you say to a nun "hey sister, you're always looking after small children. Why don't you make some of your own?"

    :D

  • nice analogy; a nun meanwhile vowed to not "have children"...I hope there is no vow involved in your abstinence from writing^^

  • Thanks so much for beeing here on the net presenting so good music to us...

  • Gorgeous.

  • Simply amazing, thanks.

  • beautiful

  • This is the first time you've pulled one out I had no familarity with and also the first time I went 'What the hell was that?' I've been a guitar student myself since 1983 and I could always tell what you were doing until this piece and all those gorgeous diminshed bits...partly the piece, partly the player. Your right hand technique is fantastic for any style and your left hand just makes me wonder why you are doing YouTube videos and not recording professionally. Thanks for this.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • wow, this was wonderful. You have done Scarlatti an honor to play this so well. I hope you continue with your musical works, and like the hat

  • nice hat

  • shit a brick, thats the bollocks.(compliment of the highest order in england).

  • words are very unneccessary

  • A much more challenging, technical piece for the mistro! Not an easy piece, timing is a b-tch but handle well....Bravo. Now I have to listen another 5 times!

  • Pure beauty Tony, that's what I call ,crossing the boundaries of time con signore Scarlatti,no disco's no distractions only thinking of a wonderful lady with this Music and a glass of wine, those where the days, now where's that "Time machine" that I ordered? LOL greets,Vic.

  • really beautiful. I want to listen more from this signore Scarlatti.

Hey, Have you listened something of Sean Lennon? I like it very much, and it would be great if you could interpretate one of his songs.

Sorry if my english it's not so good, I'm not an english speaker :)

    anyway, thanks for share!

  • Very fine, thank you Tony.

  • If you excuse the pun I take my hat off to any

Scarlatti afficionado. While he is perhaps the

the one in the corner in terms of the baroque

    greats,there is something irresistible about

his 550 or so sonatas.Well done indeed!

  • such beauty...

  • nice! sounds great. this makes me feel like I'm going somewhere, and I know where I'm going next. Then i get there, stop, and start over again :)

  • Always great to hear you play. Beautiful interpretation!

  • Me has dejado tan extasiado que he olvidado mi inglés...

  • Gorgeous as always! ... P.S. I tried wearing a touque when playing my guitar but to my surprise it didn't help my abilities at all ;(

  • Ha! I'd just washed my hair and i couldn't do a thing with it. thanks!

  • I don't know how anyone could give this less than 5 stars!! Excellent once again!!

  • very nice and very well played as usual. Congratulations

  • New York Giants, very nice T!

  • Ahh, man. You're cruel. :D

Well, the New York Football Giants thoroughly deserved that win...the bastards.

  • great playing, i like baroque music played on guitar.

i also like the sound of your guitar.

  • thank you

  • I've heard laurindo Almeida do this piece.

    Only difference...the cap.

  • ooo, i'd like to hear his version. do you know the disk? of the big names i've only heard John Williams play this. otherwise only keyboard performances and several youtubers takes.

  • I don't know that there actually is an Almeida

recording of this and I said that to make a point since he is my all time favorite guitarist. But now with the likes of him and Charlie Byrd gone we are rewarded with you and you're doing such a fine job.

  • beautiful piece

  • thanks man!

...you make me want to play again.

    :)

  • do it! thanks.

  • Man thats really hard to play..nice

  • yeah, it's a bruiser. thanks!

  • Good Stuff

  • outstanding!

  • o.o

    impressive to say the least.

  • Incredible.

  • You have such a good memory

  • thanks. maybe for music, but not for anything else! ;)

  • You're getting really prolific here this week. And as usual, really cookin', man.

  • thanks. the Vallet was recorded some time back and i just decided to post it. I had to make probably 100 takes of the scarlatti before it was even this good. but yes it was a good weekend. well, all except for that awful football game.

  • Marvelous!

  • Well done!

  • Beautiful! I know that the classical guitar did not exist while Scarlatti lived, but I'm sure he would have been delighted to hear your performance for guitar. Praise should go to the transcriber as well, who's done a splendid job. Bravo!

  • thank you.

  • nice hat, beautiful piece also!

  • I love the music of Scarlatti! It's very nice to hear one of his pieces on guitar. Very beautifully played!

  • thanks so much. yes, DS wrote amazing stuff.

  • beautiful...what a piece of music. excellent performance. 5*****

  • Thanks again!

  • I am not a musician,

but I think it is beautiful.

Your strong personality is refected in everything you do.

I hope this is good English.

    Best regards.

  • thanks!

  • what a privilege...the first comment. Brilliant, as always you are, Tony!

  • Beautiful

  • Wow!! Great Sir!

I personally know Jan-Olof. He is very good with guitar orchestras...

You play this very beautifully... as everything you touch.

And you know it by heart... :-)

5 stars and 1 for red sweater!

  • thanks, maestro. Actually I was thinking of Per-Olov when I typed "Jan-Olof". I got this from some free scores site online. I wanted to learn it after hearing classicaljoeno1 play it. glad you like it.
