I found with a NASCAR car in GT5 it's best to use a manual transmission and to not even touch first gear.

If i may... i hav a tip for you guys... even tought i'm not that good on this track i'm a really good driver.... so listen up... turn of the fucking TC (in the dry) and change the control layout to : R2 to accelerate, L2 to brake... that will help u for the throttle control problem that most PS3 users have if they use PlayStation Dual Shock 3 joystick...

This was a tough race. I was pretty familiar with the 'Ring, after driving it all the time in GT4 and in FM3 a bit. Using the NASCAR was the problem, and I couldn't get better than 6th place after the two laps.

A few days later, I got a hookup on some settings, and I got 6th after one lap! Ended up taking the win on my first try. Settings can make all the difference in this game.

@Mrmanelmanso on the menu screen just before a race on the bottom where you have the start and replay and save replay and settings and driver settings and all....select driver settings and on that list scroll down and you should see driving line and make sure it says on beside it and it will be on when you start the race...hope that helps

Brilliant settings for this race. I ended up spinning out 2 times and made lots of mistakes (awkward car to race on there to say the least) and still came up 1st really easy. I used racing soft tires tho.

@uxgalyq mine is set up like the dirt 2 game where your gas is R2, brake is L2, upshift is O, and [ ] is downshift. then my setting is higher downforce in the front to promote good turning and while it does make the car loose it allows you to enter the corners at a higher speed and i have my guide book from my collectors edition to help out as well but i've got my DEJ #88 tuned to where it'll go around indy full throtle all the way around and beat the cars in the like the wind race.

I'd been struggle for 1st place ALL NIGHT LOING (the best I could do is 2nd place) but with your setting I win at very first try. That's really easy.

I did this on my own (i.e. no aids) by getting a set of soft race tyres and changing the setup so I had a lower top speed I set it about 215, but you could probably go as low as 200, and harder brakes (I went for 7, 8). I was getting about 5th previous to these changes. After the changes I won by over 15 secs.

Its much easier if you adjust your transmission so that the car has lower high speed ans higher acceleration. With this setting the event is not as hard as it seems.

@macrochipss Nürburgring Nordschleife is one of the hardest racing tracks in the world, you might get better after 100 laps of driving. As I mentioned in the description, people would mostly consider you insane in real life if you try to race the Ring with NASCAR.

@roadbikevalour Think about real world racing: why the engineers in a team worked day and night to adjust the car for different race tracks? Un-tuned or badly adjusted car in most cases will lose no matter how good the driver is.

@uxgalyq I definitely agree with you on that and my gripe is not with the set up part of GT5, in fact that is one of the amazing parts of the game. BUT its the dependence on aids like that skid recovery and active steering that just make it so easy, i suppose i should just spend more time perfecting the lap if i want to do it that way. i dont think i should ever be able to be full throttle on the grass and turning tho, without a fairly substantial crash. lol. good vid tho m8, cheers.

@dautolover yeh its do able (with a fair bit of practice) , congrats, but how much did you win by, aids make it an absolute dodol, winning by half a minute. That's my issue, crap people hitting every boundary, barely on the track can win with ease, pointless as its not driving. Nice one on doing it properly tho.

@roadbikevalour probably by half a second. i caught up to the jeff gordon car on the straight. and like i said, it was really hard. with the aids on, hitting the grass in any part of the course isn't a big deal. doing it without them, and you spin out, especially if you're in 1st or second gear (mostly on 1st). like the guy in the video says, you have to know the track, and you need to have good throttle control, especially during the bumpy parts.

@roadbikevalour don't exit the corner full throttle. max it once you're able to shift to the next gear. with work, you can take 7th by the end of the first lap. 8th is okay too, but that would mean working it during your second lap.

@dautolover agreed, this one is an effort. i spent a long time getting it right as well (doing it properly, aids.... as discussed), finding apex speeds, how aggressive to be with the throttle on exit of certain bends, learning the banking of the track, braking points, as well as overtaking those buggers, cos if you get put on the grass u are well and truly stuffed. knowing the track and car is what its all about, its an amazing game :)

@calito0010 aahhh good to know, thank you. it is a very tricky event. soft tyres will really help, traction is one of the toughest parts of it. 4th oooo very nice, i will have a go with the soft tyres and see how much quicker i am, cant get enough of the nurburgring. cheers.

i hate this game ... for sure. in gt4 you could win nice super cars in races, and sell them for money, but in this you can not even sell racing cars. you can not even win a racing car. only cars like bmw 2002 , you cant use to anything.. hmmm... and its to difficult to earn money..

@infiniteboredom1 NASCAR can NOT be upgraded under any condition, they come with all possible parts installed, and Racing Hard tyres. You may buy other types of tyres or the Cr. 20,000 Chassis part (which I usually ignore).

Lmao you know what sucks? When I got the free Nascar from completing the Advanced Nascar School, I did an oil change on it and it increased the horsepower by 13, and it's over the limit and now I can't enter this race :(
