Tariq Ali is the editor of New Left Review. He began as a documentary filmmaker and has written novels, political articles, and given lectures since the 60s on issues confronting the left, imperialism, the Arab world/Palestine, and South Asia.
Iftikhar Chaudray is no different from Musharraf or any other corrupt Pakistani politician, a corrupt and politicized judge, he took oath on PCO and when got sacked is destroying the country, more than 70% of people in Pak come out in streets to burn petrol stations and destroy public property shame on such bustards, so many people died in protests and He says their lives will be well served if he gets back, power hungry greedy bastard, if he was sincere he would say democracy won job done, shame
But Justice Chaudhry did take a principled stand on missing persons. I being an Indian and a keen Pakistani observer can make out this. If you can restore your justice, then there is some hope for Pakistan. Otherwise, Pakistan is sure to get destroyed by internal crisis.
he took no principle stand, when things were not going his way he started releasing all terrorists who killed so many people, who killed minorities, people from other sects and who were against peace and stability, why ? just to make musharraf weak. general public enjoy instability chaos. one should not just look at things from one prespective.
Mushraff is also a good guy and modern guy. So cannot all the 3 - pakistan chief Justice, Benazir's party and Mushraff work together? Then, all these protests will stop and government can work on providing jobs to poor people.
