This crane is a ninja .. stealthily approaching the danger and with a technical eye scare the alligator making it retreat, and just to be sure that he will not try anything, it makes a jump in a unique style .. in the end, will make sure that fulfill the mission.
This looks exactly like a scene from the Sandhill Cranes I used to video, with the ducks and pond looking exactly the same. I have seen the Sandhills and Whoopers take on Gators. Gators are actually afraid of them. Sandhills and Whoopers are pretty smart birds and are not easily pushed around. Whoopers are dominant over Sandhills, though.
the thing about the crane is that it's a humble bird but when it's attacked it becomes shockingly vicious. Reminicent of why they always tell you to watch the quiet ones lol! precicely why the chinese chose to model a style of kung fu after the crane.
Your video is wonderful. I have been a Sandhill Fan for years, but had never seen one react to an alligator. But PLEASE do not feed them bread. It is very bad for them. Go to a ranch supply (where they have horse feed, etc) and get cracked corn. It is cheap and they love it. And it is what they eat in the wild. All us Crane Lovers thank you.
@genie616 There are still good people in the world. I wish the world could be filled with people like you who would love humans and animals. The thing I like about animals is that all of them follow their rules and we don't (some of us)

@datdudesketch not only powerful but a lot of fun, but switching crane stances is really hard, and is hurts after so many times.

Go Sandhill! They visit my apartment complex too. Very nice birds, they don't fear people for some reason.

@genie616 Hi Genie. That sounds like good advice. Is bird seed okay? Or is that discouraged? How about squirrel corn? Thanks!

@genie616 Please do not feed them at all, chiefly for their protection but for ours as well. It has been illegal since 2002.
