He's talking about phasing it out, but it would not affect you he's talking about the very young getting an option to opt out. If you stop all the nation building and close most of the foreign bases that really have nothing to do with security. You would have plenty of money to meet the obligations of the people dependent on Social Security

A few weeks ago I had never even heard of him, but I kept noticing "Ron Paul 2008" in messages all over youtube and out of curiosity checked him out and I have not had a day go by since where I am not reading or watching videos about him. I'm excited about Ron's chances to win this election. He's building support slowly, but the more people hear him speak, the more support he gains. Once people hear his message, they usually decide that he's the best candidate in the race. He's speaking "truth to power" honestly and clearly, something that none of the other candidates in either party is doing.

Shouldn't be a problem. Ron's points out that individual morality comes before law. Without morality, law becomes futile. Look at Prohibition, the Roman empire, and the Soviets. All their laws and punishments couldn't change people. Morality is the province of religion, parents, and individual responsibility. Government should just butt out.

Agreed, but notice the way he still injected his thoughts about the "creator" which got a huge round of applause, and also stated his position on abortion (against it, also another big round of applause) which appeases the right wing as well.

For some of us, even mentioning this stuff is bad enough. You don't have to hide it necessarily, but saying "Hey, I believe in _X_, but it won't affect _Y_" still scares the shit out of me.

I think if you listen to him you will hear he is a strict constitutionalist and believes in individual liberty above all else. That's the beauty of the constitution and libertarian values. You do what you want and as long as it doesn't hurt me - go for it. This man has a very long history of consistency and walks like he talks. Also, I think a wise choice VP-wise for Paul, even though I like Gravel, is Virginia Sen. Jim Webb (D). The most I have heard about Gravel is his proposal for a national initiative system. That is very counter to the Constitution, and I don't believe he and RP would make a good team. I think Gravel is a very sincere and upstanding guy.
