@AICpantera Me too I bust through the patio door and began roaring CHAMPIONES CHAMPIONES all the way to the end. Such a glorious moment for Irish sport through and through.
Fair play to ireland they did deserve their win and gland slam they waited long enough for it and as someone already said itwouldnt have been fair if us welsh won and took away irelands grand slam by a kicking game.
Yes Ireland defo deserved to win! (and im sayin this as a Welsh person), but with regards to winning by trys or a kicking game, at the end of the day ''Winning is winning''.
should never have been a penalty at the last play. wallace ripping the ball from the man on the ground, there was no call for hands off, and the welsh player on the ground was holding on. should have been an ireland penalty
@ct94Chris Spur of the moment perhaps. Supense was far too high to give us the win. So they went for a true finish made of suspense, drama and epicness.
I used to respect the Welsh up to that point, but the fans and more so the players didn't want us to win the grandslam...very disappointing, it's not like we didn't deserve it...
Now come on, what did you want them to do? hand it to us, they were being competitive, Ireland would have competed the3 same way, what a stupid statement.
Ok smart mouth read my comment again, and you'll see I made no such statement. I never said they should have let us win, I didn't even say they should've been happy for us, what I said was they seemed to take pleasure in the possibility that we mightn't get it with a minute on the clock. That's what I found appalling and it's not what rugby is about! I don't know a single person who begrudged Wales there GS last year,
Really? Warren Gatland claiming the Welsh team hated the Irish is competition? Stephen Jones rushing off the field because his missed kick gave us the GS is competition? And if you're telling me he was devastated because he missed out on a Triple Crown you need to pull the other one!
You have really no idea about sport have you, Jones did not rush off the field, did you not see him swapping jersies with O'Gara, he stayed on to watch the trophy presentation, as did the whole team. A match is a match and a true sportsman will always try to win, no matter what the situation.
What has my ability to discern what I see on a television screen got to do with my knowledge of sport? In any case you've just embarrassed yourself, he bolted in the direction of the dressing room and O'Gara chased after him to bring him back, then they swapped jerseys, then Jones watched the presentation, so who's clueless now? I notice you didn't mention the Gatland incident! A true competitor will always try to win, a true sportsman will give credit where it's due.
"I've embarassed myself" don't be such a clown, how do you know he bolted towards the dressing room? it just showed him walking away from where he kicked it, and even if he was walking off on the pitch was the last place he wanted to be AFTER LOSING A TRIPLE CROWN O'Gara said of all the Welsh players the one he has the most respect for is Jones, and that was after the match, so don't be talking shit, as Jones did give credit, and you said it yourself A true competitor will always try to win,
Now now potty mouth! 'on the pitch was the last place he wanted to be ' I feel better knowing I'm talking to someone who knows nothing about the spirit of the game. You seem to be hung up on the idea I suggested people shouldn't try to win! Maybe you have trouble reading! I have no problem with people trying to win, but graciousness in defeat is just as important...I notice you STILL continue to side step the Gatland issue! The Welsh attitude towards the Irish was made perfectly clear turncoat!
"potty mouth" what are you a Royal? Tell me what ungraciousness was there in defeat? What Gatland said was BEFORE the game, so I fail to see what that has to with being ungracious in defeat, and you STILL sidestep the issue on how you know the Welsh would have taken satisfaction in Ireland not winning the Six Nations. I've heard stupis sporting comments in the past but this takes the biscuit.
I already explained why I felt Jones was ungracious, I'll rip the scene and upload it tonight! And if you think what Gatland said before the match had no bearing on after the match you've got an agenda that's lost on me! And no I'm not royalty I just don't need to let myself down to make a point! Did you ever even play rugby or are you the typical 'Limerick is the home of rugby so I don't need to know anything about it to run my mouth off?' As if I need ask!
"Did you ever even play rugby or are you the typical 'Limerick is the home of rugby so I don't need to know anything about it to run my mouth off?"
What kind of a statement is that?
Wales were not ungraciuous after the match, and if you still think Jones was unsporting, you are saying that what Ronan O'Garasaid was rubbish. It was a match and there was a lot at stake, yes Wales were up for it, but unsporting? no. They are extremley proud of there rugby and never want to lose in Cardiff.
O'Gara said what he said because he knows the spirit of the game. This is going around in circles! Suffice it to say what I perceived as Jones behaviour coupled with Gatlands comments adds to ungraciousness in my book and is not in the spirit of the game, whether it grinds your gears or not it happens to be my opinion. I said what I said because everyone knows the opinion down your way is that Munster is in Limerick not vice versa and your aggressive attack made you appear just as deluded.
Ok, we got off on the wrong foot, you believe the welsh to be unsporting after the game, I percieve them not to be, Wales have a strong tradition in rugby and always will. As for your Munster comment I'm afraid you are the one that are delusional. Any decent Munster fan from Limerick will know that the six counties of Munster are vital to the team, a lot of the famous players have come from outside Limerick, there is a bt of banter with the Cork boys but its healthy.
Wales have an extremely strong tradition in rugby, far be it from me to deny that but the lead up to that game from the Welsh camp really got me. Considering they were all going off on a Lions tour together and Gatland was a Lions coach it was a senseless move. As for the Munster thing I agree sure wasn't our greatest captain from Clare!!!
Ye that guys being a bit silly, i mean the amount of money that kick cost Wales rugby union was unreal for ONE kick, it was the difference between finishing 4th and 2nd and as aforementioned the triple crown.
I think in the same position an Irish fan would be delighted about finishing above England and sick if they missed the kick.
Live in the US here, but have many, many relatives from Ireland. Father was born there. I have 22 aunts and uncles born in Ireland. All of my grandparents, etc. I was listening to the match that day on RTE's website. I was just about to click the 'X' button when the announcer said, "Ireland! Now inside the 22 yard line!!" Great stuff!!! Let's defend it in 2010!!!
I'm an old fart (43), and I've been into Rugby since the age of seventeen. I've waited many years to see this moment. This was made all the more special because with Jackie Kyle in the stand watching it all.
Eddie Butler is actually Welsh, and that is an Irishman Philip Matthews with him. To me Butler is the best in the business, and is way better than that tool Ryle Nugent, and that is from an Irish perspective...
Never watched rugby before in my life. Randomly came here. It was fun.
