  • This assist STILL EXISTS in Forza 4 even with simulation steering. What a load of bullshit! Turn 10 lied to us.

  • @Kitteh2006 Yeah I feel it too. Disappointing. You can also see it in action if you pull up the hud. Really too bad, the game looks great.

  • @Kitteh2006 This is why I won't be purchasing Forza 4.

  • Who in their right mind drives with this view? Cockpit/hood view or you might just as well play Lego racing.

  • @Psydrre The drivers seat view is too restrictive. You can't see near as much as you would be able to in a real car, making it almost impossible to drive right. It might be a little better if there was head movement, but no such luck. Of course, the reverse also is true for the overhead view, but I'd rather have too much vision than not enough. Plus, I spent my hard earned credits making my car look sexy, I at least wan't to see it.

  • Comment removed

  • @Psydrre If Forza 4 figures out some way to widen the view, I'd probably use that exclusively. But right now I can't even tell when a car is right next to me lol.

  • GT5 vs forza 3

  • Forza's the better game, just look at the review scores.. And if u want to play a REAL simulation, play iRacing. GT5 isn't more realistic than forza and vice versa.

  • @Teztost3rpwn No its not a better game, and review scores suck, there are a lot of games that got a 7 which i enjoyed more than games with 9s and 10.

Forza is not a simulator period its an arcade fun packed game. GT5 + Wheel = the best simulators on consoles, story mode and menu system are rubbish in GT5, but at least driving physics & force feed back physics are one of the best and im a PC sim fan.

btw iRacing has reviews between 6-8 and its still the best sim over all.

  • funny thing is, you don't see any of that twitchy wheel stuff in drifting videos

  • hey smartass.....sit in a real car..and see how long it takes to fully turn your tires...

  • this video is correct. I drifted with a MS wheel for a long time and its not realy noticabe. But i now have a 911 gt2 and this aid is complete BS. It destroyes the drifting for me. And the only way to get rid of this aid (that i know of) is to tune the wheel back to 270 deg. Wats the point in that

  • I bought a Playstation 3 when it was still 700 buck, and I bought GT5 the day it came out. This makes me wonder if YOU own a PS3. If so, do you really think that GT5 is very realistic? And if so, have you ever driven a real car?

  • @supratt2jzgte the ones that say gt5 is realistic i want to slap. That game has way way way to much driver aids and stupid stuff like that.

  • @37474748 Thank you!!!

  • @hfxgtxgtdfhtxzh You are right, it is NOT easy, but it is extremely easy in Forza 3 as you can see I am hardly moving the wheel at all, just back and forth to the same position and the car never loses control or spins out. I am driving this way so that you can CLEARLY see that the game steers for you. Dan Greenawalt, the Lead Designer of Forza 3, has since described in an interview how the game 'tries to read the players mind' and then makes steering decisions beyond your direct input.

  • @gek54 hardly moving the wheel lol are you having a laugh, plus you didnt even give it any throttle so no wonder it didnt spin out.

  • @andrewjones1977 I am hardly moving the wheel because that is all that the game requires, the game does the rest of the steering for you by turning the cars wheels all the way to full lock and then it searches for the optimal angle for you. And I did give it full throttle to induce the slides. In real life or even in the better PC sims I would be sawing away at the wheel trying to maintain that same level of control, Forza 3 does all that steering for you. It drives for you.

  • do you mean, that the wheel trembles?

what about that: the wheel slides, when it's totally off the right direction, and it gets grip, when it is in the same direction as the car moves. I don't think, that this is a help. It's simply realistic! It shows, that you are not sliding on an soap-ground, but on non-slipping tarmac.

means: this is a "help" of natural physics. you should blame god for it, not turn10 : )

  • Comment removed

  • Sadly that forza develops aside arcada

  • the reason turn 10 did this is to make KIDS (most of forza's public) enjoy the game by making it easy

advise: get a serious simulation game like GT5

  • @mauricio210 There are no better simulation games than Forza 3. GT5 is just a big disappointment. If you have ever driven a real car even close to it's limits, you will instantly realize that GT5 is not very realistic.

  • @supratt2jzgte Bullshit. Must suck, not owning a Ps3.

  • @gek54 You are a crybaby. Go find a really problem , instead of being a petty douche, about stupid shit.

  • GT5 in 2 days !! wooohooo!!!!

  • Heres a thought.......... NEXT TIME U DECIDE TO PROVE SOMETHING ON VIDEO - POST OR SHOW US THE SETTINGS ( anti-lock, auto brake, traction contrrol etc....) B4 U PLAY THE GAME!!! other words it just a WEAK VIDEO that only shows what u want us to see, so how about everything next time....... YA Sounds like a good idea doesn't it!!

  • @gek54 work with the wheel set up first on the menu and then work with the Racing suspension set up that you have in the car jack ass.

  • @1:35

    Ah, I see it :o

  • to answer your question...nope.

  • Yep that's why I don't play Forza3 with my MS wheel anymore

  • bmw ripped off active steering from forza

  • I've been working on the theory that its meant to be simulating the judder and kick that you get through the steering when slip angles get extreme, under these conditions the flex in the tyre carcass can make juddering motion - this could be their way to simulate it...

  • Comment removed

  • It looks like the steering wheel animation has fewer degrees of rotation than your steering wheel. That's all. It's not a 1-1 relationship because the game doesnt know which wheel you're using.

  • FAIL xD

    Made in Turn10

  • LOL I love how good the replay made this game look

  • just be quiet like good little kids, play your bumber cars, and quit trying to troll games that are better than the ones you play. enjoy your childhood, it wont last.

  • lol, hey samsite, did you sick your boyfriend analhalo on me? you two are very sad individuals, i figured id just ignore both of you but sending you into a ps3 fanboy rage is entertaining me, and once again, im a pc gamer, dumb fuck. get it through that thick skull in that fat head of yours. Have i ever drove a car "in real life"? son, im probably old enough to be your dad. Look at my name, thats what i drive.

  • @RotaryPoweredRX lookin at your comments your no more than 15 years old kid,

ur a PC gamer? yea right, that why your obsessed defending a 360 game? lol

with all this Permanent active steering and lame ass Ai in Forza 3 you still say "forza3 has the best physics" lol! your a sad delusional xbot. and then u say Gt5 bumper cars, Prologue didn't have good collusion physics, but it had an impressive driving physics, not this bullshit arcade active steering. go back an play your stupid shooter, xbot

  • Forza 3 is definitely not a Simulator.

and those people form insidesimracing.tv can go kiss my ass, by saying "FM3 is a sim", how much money did they get from Turn 10/MS for spreading lies?

  • @samsite84 ok so if Forza isnt a simulator what is then? Gran Turismo????? Let me guess, you're another PS3 fanfaggot trying to troll a FM vid. Look bro, GT is a great game, but it is so far from a simulator its not even funny. the physics in Prologue and every previous GT are shit. Maybe in GT5 they will get it right

  • @RotaryPoweredRX its an arcade racing game just like Dirt2 and shift. i own both FM2 and 3 and now im playing FM2 more than FM3, FM2 is better in every aspect(damage, driving physics everything)

as for Prologue i also own it and your confusing collusion physics with actual driving physics, every car in GT has its unique D physics,FM3 has 1 physic applied on all cars, i mostly play PC sims, so i know what im talking about, GT is not as good as these PC sims, but is definitely way better than FM3.

  • @RotaryPoweredRX also you obviously never played a single GT game.. Pro drivers like Sébastien Loeb and Alonso practice on GT because it has the most accurate Driving physics and 1:1 track design.

compare FM3 Nurburgring track design to real life Nurburgring track and see how awful its made, the ruined every famous corner in Nurburgring FM3 track.

so know what your talking about instead of posting your crap.

  • @samsite84 ive played gt4 and prologue, had some great times on 4, learned the BASICS of driving the game provided, and gained a new found love for cars and my dream car the Ford GT. Forza isnt perfect, and neither is GT, but as far as driving physics, FM3 is the best so far. I am also a PC gamer, and i am in no way biased. So dont be a cry baby..

  • @RotaryPoweredRX Haha, what driving driving physics, look at this freakin video,

what physics? controlled simulation thats the best driving physics? i didn't know Real cars steers for you....

and by calling me a PS3 faggot its seems your just a blind 360fanboy who is trying to defend any 360game . if u played PC sims like LFS or GTR2 and compare them to both forza and GT you would know that GT is similar to these games, go waste your piss poor fanboy comments somewhere else, not with me.

  • Comment removed

  • @RotaryPoweredRX So this video just posted some fact about Forza 3, Permanent Driving Aid is for a reason and that because Turn10 suck at making car physics work well. how much an xbot can you be to ignore this vid and say Forza 3 has the best physics, what physics, Permanent Driving Aid physics? have u ever drove a car kid? you know that car in real life don't have a Permanent Driving Aid, Forza 3 is just low end driving game, get a job, buy both consoles you xbot idiot,

  • @RotaryPoweredRX Hypocrite. You claim you hate fanboys when you essentially admit to being one yourself when you say you dislike PS3 "fanbitches" more than other fanboys. The only person you're fooling is yourself when you say Forza is a simulator. It's arcade bullshit. If you'd ever played iRacing, Live For Speed, Gran Turismo or, indeed, had any experience of track driving in real life, you'd know what I was talking about. Later, Microsoft boy.

  • @danielwhite74 iRacing, Live for speed, Gran turismo? dont talk down to me you faggot, go get your drivers license first then smash your mommies car into a brick wall.

  • @danielwhite74 I own a ps2, i own gt4, Ive played Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. I Like Polyhony Digital, but like i keep saying to you stupid fanfags, they need to step up their game. Now fuck off, ya wanker

  • @RotaryPoweredRX Wow. Do you really expect me to believe you're old enough to drive talking like that? Could you explain why Polyphony need to "step up their game," preferably without swearing ten times in each sentence?

  • Comment removed

  • @danielwhite74 Excuse my cursing, im just tired of sony fanboys trolling games other than GRAN TURISMO. Saying I hate ps3 fanboys doesnt make me a fanboy. I declare my "alliegance" to no one. Out of MS, Nintendo, and Sony, sony fanboys are the worst because they have this urge to cut down and troll a game that isnt on their little console( a lot more than any other fanboy) does this logic make sense to you?

  • @danielwhite74 I don't expect, nor care what you believe. However, I will tell you why PD needs to "step up their game". Just look at GT5P, the game was terrible, I was wanting to play for a long time and was very hyped from watching video after video. Well, i got my hands on it one day and I was very, very disappointed. (mostly with the physics) can you say "bumper cars"? How about this, You tell Me why GT prologue is so great.

  • @RotaryPoweredRX Lack of damage hardly affects the driving experience. Sure, there will always be idiots who take advantage of this by constantly ramming other drivers off the road at no consequence to themselves, but where sensible fans of simulation racing are concerned, cars very rarely collide. In my opinion, Prologue has the most true-to-life driving physics available on a console. Simulation isn't about smashing up cars, it's about how cars behave when they are racing normally.

  • @danielwhite74 I never said anything about damage or lack of. If you want to have a real conversation as opposed to just posting comments on this poor fellows video, hit up my youtube page and we can discuss this,as I dont want to keep posting comments here

  • @RotaryPoweredRX dude stfu, im a PC sim gamer i brought both 360/PS3 for Prologue and Forza,

at least Prologue or the upcoming GT5 doesn't have this stupid Permanent Driving Aid, Forza 3 sucks the AI sucks the damage modeling sucks, the interior looks average even a 5 years old game like GTR2 has better interior. Prologue has very nice Driving physics, very similar to my Fav game GTR2.your don't know what ur talking about, this video clears all the reviews bullshit.. i will upload some vids onF3

  • I think they keep active steering option for Forza 4 and then call it "most definitive simulator ever" to make more money...

  • Please T10 make an option to disable it!!!IT WILL BE BETTER THAT WAY!!!

  • Rumor is that Turn 10 team would love to turn off the STEERING HELP AID, only thing is that the game would be unplayable because the Physics are still not too perfect, so Turn 10 had to create a help in steering to make the cars drivable.. Too bad FM3 is almost a PERFECT SIM!

  • People who buy the wheel, especially the Fanatec wheel, they want realism not arcade steering.! Fix it FM3 team!

  • I hate that it locks my steering so I cant make a sharp turn or dig into the corner like in real life

  • To me it feels like the effect is bit less harsh with steering wheel than it is with a gamepad. ie. navigating slower corners is better with a wheel, but extremely irritating with the gamepad. Its quite unacceptable that they left something like that in the game.. my speculation is that its covering up some errors or problems in the physics engine.

  • I suggest sending this to Turn 10 asking for an explaination, perhaps it can be addressed in the future if they get enough people unhappy about it. Count me in.

  • @gsherlock Unfortunately, Turn 10 don't seem to be able to care any less about the quality of their game. If you take a look at the Forzamotorsport net forums, you'll see that they immediately ban any users saying anything other than that their game is perfect.

  • @gsherlock Here's a quote: "Over the last few months, general discussion has become an unfriendly place for new users, this is not something we want, nor should you. We know you are as passionate about the Forza franchise as we are and you wish to tell us how to improve your experience."

Allow me to paraphrase that: "How dare you criticize our clearly perfect game? Instead of humbly acknowledging our game's obvious flaws, we're shutting you up. Only fanboy propaganda is permitted here."

  • @danielwhite74 Dude just ignore (RotaryPoweredRX), his just another blind teen 360 fanboy,

he's talks about physics, then he say bumper cars, thats he's only argument lol

he seems to watch vids other 360 fanboys are posting on youtube....

just look how blind he is, this video is fact that Forza 3 is not a simulator, and yet he call it a Simulator LOL!

  • @gsherlock Turn 10 bans anyone off the forums for asking such questions.

  • FM3 has the PHYSICS to be great SIM, but that steering help.. its BS

  • i Agree, if i tell a game to turn the assists off, i mean i want them OFF, not dialled down. Why do companies nowadays insist on this crap? (Car makers with abs/tcs/stm etc)

  • @Legotruck82

Wow Really? Its for your safety. How can you NOT know that? They are there to keep your vehicle from Locking up the breaks, losing stability, and losing traction.

  • Thanks for making the video. I hate this steering aid with msff too.

And it sucks to see that there really is no linear 900 degrees support in forza 3.

Someone needs to remind turn10 about how important proper wheel support is in a racing game/sim.

  • Is drift mode off? I have the Fanatec as well. I've been playing DiRT2 and I noticed that the Drift mode helps find the correct counter steering angle... wondering if that's whats going on here as well.

  • Drift mode reduces the force feedback resistance in the wheel, from what I understand the game doesnt know if you are using it or not. Forza 3's active steering aid happens with both the Fanatec wheel and Microsoft's Official wheel. Microsoft's wheel of course doesnt have a drift mode.

  • @gek54 so i just played FM3, turned off all aids, and the front wheels didnt look all erratic for me on the replay like yours did. So is this only an issue with steering wheel controllers? because it wasnt for a regular one

  • I tried it with drift mode of it gives me the same result as shown in the video.

    Pleas turn 10 fix FFB

  • @rise888 As I said before, drift mode is, afaik, purely a force feedback setting. The 360 and games do not register any settings changes you make on the wheel other than being in 900 degree mode or not.

  • Comment removed

  • The driving in the video was done in a way to show you the Active Steering aid happen repeatedly. If you take a corner hard in normal racing then active steering will take control of your front tires.

  • Thanks for the explanation. How i hate assists you cant switch off, same in FC:TP and SCC, but i think its even worse in these games.

  • @PSIAce

There's no steering assists in FC and SCC if you're using a wheel. Only with the gamepad.

  • Yep, i know. Still stupid.

I cant use a wheel for example, because of a handicap, so this kind of ruins the whole game for me.

  • Rofl.

  • @derFeef

I use the Fanatec wheel in full 900 degree mode in the later part of this video, the active steering driving aid still exists.

  • I don't see anything really obvious? Could it be the "linearity", when the steering input is reduced as you go faster to make the car more controlable?

  • @olythekid

I have a feeling that is one part of the problem, for sure the video shows how the game greatly increases the steering input to almost full lock if you get a little sideways even if you have only moved the steering wheel a small fraction to lock. The game then seems to oscillate the steering looking for right angle before finally reducing it back down once the car is recovering. The game takes away your control of the car, there needs to be an option to turn off all steering aids.

  • Nice video, thanks for posting. It's designed to make the game more accessible. Check out the tire flex!!!

  • @ragingbull94mtx

Optional driving aids to make the game more accessible is perfectly understandable, why they have this active steering aid without an option to turn it off does not make sense. Why cant we take all the training wheels off? Its nurfing the simulation.

  • That is a CRT display which have zero lag compared to any other display. I am using both the MS wheel and Fanatec wheel, both wheels work perfectly in other games that allow you turn off their active steering aid.

  • You need to put the Philosoraptor in that final sentence of your video.
