When one speaks truth to power, one might expect repercussions. But, I've noticed that "They" don't care about what we're strung out on, so much as who is making money from it. The War on Drugs is incredibly lucrative for Sheriff's Departments all across the USA, due to the Forfeiture Laws , which allow the Depts. to seize any assest connected with the drugs themselves, and KEEP THEM, WITHOUT A TRIAL, and in some cases, without charges being filed. Marijuana has been said to lead to an early onset of psychosis in long-term users. Personally, I don't want to pay tax dollars for drug users to stay in jail or a medical facility because they have an addiction. And for those who wanna legalize marijuana, take a good long think about that.
You would need a special liscense to sell it(like alchohol). And there would be a cut-off point(again, like alchohol). The sales would be regulated, and there would be far more DUI accidents and arrests.
Sorry, but you've fallen for misinformation. Like any psychoactive substance, natural or man made, THC is not for everyone. Read the suppressed 1972 government report recommending decriminalization or check some of the recent Danish studies comparing with nicotine.
While there are studies showing a correlation between pot use and psychosis, there hasn't been a rise in psychotic cases despite marijuana's growing popularity. Perhaps people predisposed to psychosis are more likely to toke up.
Pot has less addiction potential than caffeine. More tax dollars are going to put potheads in jail now than if it were legal.
I'm for age cutoffs and licenses to sell. Control is important. DUI wouldn't change. It's not the drug that decides to commit DUI, it's the user.
@jpriedie Acording to "Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry - volume 28 issue no. 5" Prolonged heavy users are the most at risk. Which is kind of a DUH because if you smoke anything, and not in moderation it's going to have adverse effects on your health. This would be irrelevant in users who ingest the cannabis. It also stated that users who started young maybe more at risk for dependency. I don't see how this is true i've never met some one who is dependent on
@jpriedie on cannibas. I started smoking and was able to quit for college no problem. I haven't had any adverse effects on my long term or short term memory. i am fully able to quit cannabis but am still unable to putt down my cigarettes. it is true cannabis is not for every one, it can cause some people to have panick attacks. So if cannabis is not for you then the sensible thing to do would be not to smoke it.
@dmoogle2006 tax revenue on weed sales would be enormous, as well there would be billions saved in policing and prison costs. prohibition has never, and will never, work.
@isaaczeke You misunderstand me. I never advocated prohibition. But it does bring up this: The alcohol prohibition didn't work because it was and still is the country's most widely distributed drug. When it was banned there were hundreds of thousands of addicted citizens suddenly without means to feed their addiction. It lasted thirteen years before the sheer volume of alchohol-related crime was overwhelming.
@dmoogle2006 Alcohol prohibition didn't work because we have been drinking alcohol all over the world, as a species, for tens of thousands of years. Outlawing alcohol was a ridiculous move based on unrealistic puritanical values. The fact is, humans and other animals routinely seek avenues to alter their consciousness; even bears will seek out fermented fruit to get drunk, and cats get high on catnip. Getting intoxicated is a pretty normal behavior for higher animals.
Now, THC content has increased SUBSTANTIALLY since then giving people a more intense high, and, sub-sequentially, more psychologically addicting. Don't mis-understand me here, either, I am not saying pot should not be legalized because it is addicting. I am saying legalizing it will not generate the revenue you expect. THC content will be monitored, People used to their normal highs will not experience them, and will still buy from their 'unlicensed' merchant dealers with the stronger stuff.
@dmoogle2006 Indeed, THC content has increases and people get psychologically addicted. The amount of money saved would be astronomical just based on the reduced amount of policing required and amount of people in prisons. The U.S. spends about 23 billion per year on corrections of people involved in non-violent drug crimes. And that's just corrections. Also, I don't see why strong blends would be restricted; alcohol is available in many places in concentrations up to 97.5%.
From an economical standpoint, which most pot legalization advocation seem to claim will be positive, I actually see as a negative side-effect. Revenue generated will maybe increase at first, but overtime will suffer due to the amount of THC one can legally have in a product or in one's system. DUI's will increase, and just because it's legal doesn't mean it'd be legal for you to be pushing your 'upgraded' product on the streets. Marijuana crimes would still exist.
@dmoogle2006 Legalization doesn't mean it would be ok to be high at work, much as it is not ok to get drunk at work. There is no reason that DUI's would increase; marijuana doesn't inhibit impulse control like alcohol does. It is much easier to resist the urge to drive when you are high. Also, marijuana has no where *near* the impairment effects of alcohol. Although, of course, driving while impaired at all should be punished.
@dmoogle2006 i really dont want weed to be legal. rather it should be decriminalized. with it being decriminalized there are very few issues that woudl arise other than people abuseing it. however it has never killed anyone in the history of its use. why should we waste monmey having people incarserated for a substance that is already widely used regardless of its legal status?
@dmoogle2006 Lmao hes telling potheads to take a good LONG think. Although i am an advocate of marijuana, it hasnt made me think longer. Ill take that side effect.
@dmoogle2006 I agree with a lot of this but... If weed was legal less people would be in jail. Maybe people would smoke them self retarded and end up in a medical facility. I quit smoking weed after 8 years for a job after college and had no withdrawl. I smoked all day everyday. Worst withdrawal I've ever suffered is Klonopin. Cigarettes pshh freakin hard to quit! Lisence to sell yes, cut off point yes. DUI yes but there is no system to test if you are currently high for sure.
@dmoogle2006 There has not been one single recorded accident or death from marijuana. You are misinformed, and maybe you should read some scientific data that was produced by people who are not biased towards one way or another.
@ixfallxapart Good job actually reading my post. I don't know where you got where I said anyone has died from marijuana usage. Though I would like to know where you get your facts, because there have been tons of accidents where marijuana was present in someone's system.
@dmoogle2006 I disagree about the DUI accidents and arrests, I've driven many a times stoned out of my gourd and it has never had the same effect as being drunk. It is very easy to drive, if you are a person like me, not saying everyone would be as safe behind the wheel. But these people you're talking about, they already smoke weed, and the arrests are already in the books. There would be no great mud slide of DUI arrests, because marijuana is everywhere already.
Your answers, along with invectives, are just a proof of my statement. The stuff makes you dumb and illusive.

Alcohol is for chumps. Reefer is good clean fun. If you don't like reefer, then don't smoke it, but leave those who enjoy it the fuck alone! I've never seen a fight break out on pot and no one has ever O.D.d on it. No hangover either. You just order a few dozen pizzas and then go to sleep.
hell yeah. free country... if you choose the path of the suburbanite, in which you live and die the same way you knew you would from the age of two without one positive struggle for freedom and equality in your life. and by the way i know me and my people see drugs as artistic, social and meditative opportunity. i've never once wasted a good bit of green playing video games and stuffing my face with shitty food... oh wait that's what the said suburbanites do when they smoke.
No, he's for real. There has never EVER been anyone who has ever over dosed on pot. Ever. Look it up. But you're right, it can screw up your brain, you just have to smoke it a lot.
The debate of legalization is a poor excuse for som guys to be weak and steadlily marschin downwards in life.

You're a fucking idiot, dude. Everything you said there is nonsense. Are you trying to argue that marijuana was "intended" for people to do one time in their lives but that's it? This doesn't even really warrant a response. You're retarded.

I'm two months short of being 62. I have used drugs since the 60s, 43 years. Some of these drugs were just fun. Some were beneficial. Some showed me the way....
man you have REALLY never smoked weed have you. some of the best times i've had in my life were completely without any kind of drugs, but i've also had some times with them that were truly beautiful and i would never give up, and i am a strong person full of love and closely connected with my community, as well as being a musician and writer. you should know about what you're saying, not just blurting things out so you can feel good about your sobriety. be proud of that. but don't be a facist.

Drugs are becoming cheaper and easier to get. They are also becoming more potent. Why? Because its a business where failure is not backed by a tax write off. It should be though
well really, when it comes to drug dealing even success is backed by a tax write off, i mean tax evasion is kinda the least of your worries, unless they can't get ya any other way, like al capone.
Well, when you get big, someone is bound to drop your name, should they get busted (which happened to me), and when that happens, and the interrogating officer looks up the name and sees that you're wanted on tax evasion, then you become top priority. Until then, yeah, you're safe.
thats another thing that the war on drugs causes because dealers have no choice but to make sure people don't talk, and i'm sure we all know a few ways they could do that, if there wasn't a war on drugs there would be nothing to talk about.
Exactly. The black market syndrome. It becomes illegal, then an underground, black market society forms. What we've seen here in America is that this underground society is glamorized at every level by both the government AND by companies creating products for the underground culture. But they try to control our market. Anti-communists SHOULD, by all logic, hate the war on drugs. It's another example of our government controlling the market, but they selectively choose their industries.
yep and communist or anti fascist, if the democratic system is about free choice then shouldn't it reflect that and not ban substances that people use by there own free will.
um, they got Al Capone that way b/c that's the people they sent to deal with him. there wasn't, like cops sitting around going "hmm, this is just dumb enough to work!" it was more like someone said "hey you guys, the tax evasion guys, yeah, it's your job to go bring down this gangster"
so your suggesting that if it was just any old schmo they would have handed down a life sentence for tax evasion, they got him that way because it was the only way they could get him.
I swear, all you people who voted for him in 2000 and/or 2004 are responsible for the shit he's put us through and gotten us into. I would not be too surprised if Bush, and the neocons in Congress, attempt to impose marshal law before his term in office is over. Thanks a lot in advance. ;(
Vote for Ron Paul. (I am), but don't depend on him because he may be a long term sleeper in congress that's working for our enemies. Vote for him, but don't depend on him. Continue with your plans for the citizen revolt that may be necessary.
I've been in the truth movement for 6 years now, and I've watched them dangle several "saviors" in front of our faces to waste our time, and give us false hope while they continue with their agenda of screwing us out of everything.
Ron Paul is definitely the best choice we have, but he's also lying to us about certain things.
basically. the "war on drugs" was a way to increase profits for the high ups and keep the street drug dealers poor and in a situation where they have no choice but to sell drugs.
the war on drugs was designed to keep inner city blacks locked up in jail, and or killed. look at prohibition in the 30s. white people were affected, so they ended it. look at from the 80s on, black communities affected, might not ever end. blacks shouldnt be fighting for the jena 6, the should be fighting for the end of the war on drugs. im not even black and i kno this
In a system with corrupt cops eager for arrests, zealous state attorneys eager for convictions, jaded and overwhelmed public defenders eager for quick pleas, and rigid bond judges eager to set bail far beyond what anyone in the defendant's socio-economic class could reasonably afford, there is little opportunity for a fair trial. Ron Paul 2008!
name 1 thing ron paul has done to help stop the flow of drugs in the community DIRECTLY, i dont mean by sitting in a offince passing laws and giving speeches what has he phisically done?? obama came to my hood and gave 10 drug pushers a job, and he put 28 crack heads in rehab, and burned down a trap house, has ron paul done that?
He's been speaking out against the drug war since Obama was in high school. He speaks out against the drug war today. He votes against it & similar policies every chance he gets. I don't have the exact figures on how many crack dealers he currently employs, or how many houses he's burned down, I'll have to get back to you on that.
lol just like i thought. u cant give me direct thing that ron paul has done to stop the drug war, i can name plenty of direct things obama haas done, like i said speaking and voting about it is one thing but actually doing somthing is powerful. ron paul is cool but id rather vote 4 obama.
basically. the "war on drugs" was a way to increase profits for the high ups and keep the street drug dealers poor and in a situation where they have no choice but to sell drugs.
basically. the "war on drugs" was a way to increase profits for the high ups and keep the street drug dealers poor and in a situation where they have no choice but to sell drugs.
no people, we need to keep the drug war going, not only is it the biggest failure world wide, it makes america look retarded and is makin me a shit load of money!

I only hate people who want to pee on the parade of anyone who doesn't think like them, and then, when they get the expected reaction, whine that their free speech is being suppressed. It's the intellectual equivilent to wrapping a piece of dog crap in newspapaer, putting it on someone's front door step, setting it on fire, and then ringing the door bell and running. I don't see the Asinine Street Slackers out there trying to be very friendly.
Why do people call marijuana "dope"? It's not dope. Dope is cocaine, crack and heroine. Marijuana is herb. It's a plant. Dope is processed drugs.
The 2007 Drug Policy Reform Conference will be in New Orleans, LA from Dec 5-8 2007. Be there and help end the failed war on drugs. Let the police officers focus on violent crimes. Drugs is a public health issue.
um, in order to win the war on Terror we have to kill every member of Al Quaeda, the KKK, PETA, the AFL, any environmental groups that have ever given money to violence for their cause (probably most of them) every single person in Afghanistan and Iraq, outlaw faith and kill those who practice. Because they are not going to stop if we ask real nice or threaten them with jail time, or even death.
damn durty drug war. very smart unlike first strike spanking which is violent and illegal. Why dernt they stop violence and stop jailing those who use drugs and work in the prost?

Oh yeah, what about the cotton growers? Hemp can be used to make better clothes at a fraction of the cost. But this is America, where lobbyists have the power, so i'm not expecting anything to change soon. So until then, grow your own and fuck their laws!

The sales would be regulated, and there would be far more DUI accidents and arrests.
dmoogle2006 3 years ago
Sorry, but you've fallen for misinformation. Like any psychoactive substance, natural or man made, THC is not for everyone. Read the suppressed 1972 government report recommending decriminalization or check some of the recent Danish studies comparing with nicotine.
jpriedie 3 years ago 7
I wouldn't cite misinformation, I do my homework, thanks. Unless that's your only negative reply to my comment, I believe we're done here.
dmoogle2006 3 years ago
While there are studies showing a correlation between pot use and psychosis, there hasn't been a rise in psychotic cases despite marijuana's growing popularity. Perhaps people predisposed to psychosis are more likely to toke up.
Pot has less addiction potential than caffeine. More tax dollars are going to put potheads in jail now than if it were legal.
I'm for age cutoffs and licenses to sell. Control is important. DUI wouldn't change. It's not the drug that decides to commit DUI, it's the user.
iamhoops 3 years ago 2
@jpriedie Acording to "Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry - volume 28 issue no. 5" Prolonged heavy users are the most at risk. Which is kind of a DUH because if you smoke anything, and not in moderation it's going to have adverse effects on your health. This would be irrelevant in users who ingest the cannabis. It also stated that users who started young maybe more at risk for dependency. I don't see how this is true i've never met some one who is dependent on
Happilyhippie 1 year ago
@jpriedie on cannibas. I started smoking and was able to quit for college no problem. I haven't had any adverse effects on my long term or short term memory. i am fully able to quit cannabis but am still unable to putt down my cigarettes. it is true cannabis is not for every one, it can cause some people to have panick attacks. So if cannabis is not for you then the sensible thing to do would be not to smoke it.
Happilyhippie 1 year ago
@jpriedie And that's why you have CBD and other cannabinoids in marihuana.

@dmoogle2006 tax revenue on weed sales would be enormous, as well there would be billions saved in policing and prison costs. prohibition has never, and will never, work.
isaaczeke 1 year ago
@isaaczeke You misunderstand me. I never advocated prohibition. But it does bring up this: The alcohol prohibition didn't work because it was and still is the country's most widely distributed drug. When it was banned there were hundreds of thousands of addicted citizens suddenly without means to feed their addiction. It lasted thirteen years before the sheer volume of alchohol-related crime was overwhelming.
dmoogle2006 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 Alcohol prohibition didn't work because we have been drinking alcohol all over the world, as a species, for tens of thousands of years. Outlawing alcohol was a ridiculous move based on unrealistic puritanical values. The fact is, humans and other animals routinely seek avenues to alter their consciousness; even bears will seek out fermented fruit to get drunk, and cats get high on catnip. Getting intoxicated is a pretty normal behavior for higher animals.
isaaczeke 1 year ago
Now, THC content has increased SUBSTANTIALLY since then giving people a more intense high, and, sub-sequentially, more psychologically addicting. Don't mis-understand me here, either, I am not saying pot should not be legalized because it is addicting. I am saying legalizing it will not generate the revenue you expect. THC content will be monitored, People used to their normal highs will not experience them, and will still buy from their 'unlicensed' merchant dealers with the stronger stuff.
dmoogle2006 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 Indeed, THC content has increases and people get psychologically addicted. The amount of money saved would be astronomical just based on the reduced amount of policing required and amount of people in prisons. The U.S. spends about 23 billion per year on corrections of people involved in non-violent drug crimes. And that's just corrections. Also, I don't see why strong blends would be restricted; alcohol is available in many places in concentrations up to 97.5%.
isaaczeke 1 year ago
From an economical standpoint, which most pot legalization advocation seem to claim will be positive, I actually see as a negative side-effect. Revenue generated will maybe increase at first, but overtime will suffer due to the amount of THC one can legally have in a product or in one's system. DUI's will increase, and just because it's legal doesn't mean it'd be legal for you to be pushing your 'upgraded' product on the streets. Marijuana crimes would still exist.
dmoogle2006 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 Legalization doesn't mean it would be ok to be high at work, much as it is not ok to get drunk at work. There is no reason that DUI's would increase; marijuana doesn't inhibit impulse control like alcohol does. It is much easier to resist the urge to drive when you are high. Also, marijuana has no where *near* the impairment effects of alcohol. Although, of course, driving while impaired at all should be punished.
isaaczeke 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 i really dont want weed to be legal. rather it should be decriminalized. with it being decriminalized there are very few issues that woudl arise other than people abuseing it. however it has never killed anyone in the history of its use. why should we waste monmey having people incarserated for a substance that is already widely used regardless of its legal status?
hobokenny5 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 Lmao hes telling potheads to take a good LONG think. Although i am an advocate of marijuana, it hasnt made me think longer. Ill take that side effect.
skippermullet69 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 I agree with a lot of this but... If weed was legal less people would be in jail. Maybe people would smoke them self retarded and end up in a medical facility. I quit smoking weed after 8 years for a job after college and had no withdrawl. I smoked all day everyday. Worst withdrawal I've ever suffered is Klonopin. Cigarettes pshh freakin hard to quit! Lisence to sell yes, cut off point yes. DUI yes but there is no system to test if you are currently high for sure.
bullwynkle2008 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 There has not been one single recorded accident or death from marijuana. You are misinformed, and maybe you should read some scientific data that was produced by people who are not biased towards one way or another.
ixfallxapart 1 year ago
@ixfallxapart Good job actually reading my post. I don't know where you got where I said anyone has died from marijuana usage. Though I would like to know where you get your facts, because there have been tons of accidents where marijuana was present in someone's system.
dmoogle2006 1 year ago
@dmoogle2006 I disagree about the DUI accidents and arrests, I've driven many a times stoned out of my gourd and it has never had the same effect as being drunk. It is very easy to drive, if you are a person like me, not saying everyone would be as safe behind the wheel. But these people you're talking about, they already smoke weed, and the arrests are already in the books. There would be no great mud slide of DUI arrests, because marijuana is everywhere already.

rootman1987 4 years ago
well really, when it comes to drug dealing even success is backed by a tax write off, i mean tax evasion is kinda the least of your worries, unless they can't get ya any other way, like al capone.
fuckinghellyoutwat 3 years ago
Well, when you get big, someone is bound to drop your name, should they get busted (which happened to me), and when that happens, and the interrogating officer looks up the name and sees that you're wanted on tax evasion, then you become top priority. Until then, yeah, you're safe.
rootman1987 3 years ago
thats another thing that the war on drugs causes because dealers have no choice but to make sure people don't talk, and i'm sure we all know a few ways they could do that, if there wasn't a war on drugs there would be nothing to talk about.
fuckinghellyoutwat 3 years ago 3
It's another example of our government controlling the market, but they selectively choose their industries.
rootman1987 3 years ago 2
yep and communist or anti fascist, if the democratic system is about free choice then shouldn't it reflect that and not ban substances that people use by there own free will.
fuckinghellyoutwat 3 years ago 2
um, they got Al Capone that way b/c that's the people they sent to deal with him. there wasn't, like cops sitting around going "hmm, this is just dumb enough to work!" it was more like someone said "hey you guys, the tax evasion guys, yeah, it's your job to go bring down this gangster"
