  • I don't think it remains attached to the cell, as viruses have two types of genetic material. The first can be changed into the other, and the origional virus can contaminate other cells. . . I think. . .

  • lol I was in a test and needed help! Thanks :)

  • They look like spiders! :(

  • just a note about the bursting part:

The phage directs the production of lysozyme, which is an enzyme that breaks down the cell wall.

With a damaged cell wall, osmosis causes the cell to swell and THEN burst, releasing the phages.

  • gooooood

  • why are cells so submissive to the virus??

  • @malevcc viruses have big jugs ;)

  • Wow, I have been trying to read my biology book for 2 hours now and understand viruses... But after watching this 1 minute video, I completely understand everything!!!! :D This was really help despite the annoying cracking and green stuff! Thank you so much for posting this video!

  • That is a big fucking virus!!!! Its almost as big as the cell!

  • thnx a lot but i hate the green thing :P

  • these viruses look like spiders

  • 6 viruses disliked this video lol

  • the green flashing is CRAP

  • isnt it because of this also that Patanjali teaches us the concept of non-attachment

  • how can i download it?..i have a presentation 2morrow and this is perfect to be include it

  • That was super HELPFUL THANKS!!!

  • this seems to be what is going on with aliens reproducing in underground bases on earth. They land on earth, integrate with our governments (nucleus), and make more ships underground, then destroy the earth, and fly away to do the same thing to another planet (cells).

  • @HealingVibrations Sure except bacteria don't have a nucleus. ; )

  • your stupid....

  • @bbenally88 Can you qualify your comments? I happen to have a masters degree, and have studied years of microbiology, getting straight A's. If you cant see the correlation, then you don't understand that biology is not limited to the earth, the entire Galaxy is a living organism, as well as the earth. They told Capernicus he was stupid, they told Jesus Christ our lord and savior he was stupid, the truth will come out eventually, then you will understand that the micro mirrors the macro.

  • bet your a chick! I am i right?

Only a chick would bitch like that!

    Hahahaha!

Go play with your cats you tight ass bitch!

  • Hah. Have you been watching V?

  • is that how a Virus look like?

  • SCARY!! What is illness cause by this virus?

  • all viruses do this at some point.

  • AIDS, small pox, chickenpox, common cold, there r others as well ...

  • mola el vídeo pero se ve un poco mal...

  • Oh wait, bacteriaphages are different from retroviruses aren't they?

  • wow good question.. haha that got me thinking.

  • Bacteriaphages have a Lytic Cycle not retroviruses. Bacteriaphages use DNA for genetic material and Retroviruses use RNA. The virus HIV is a retrovirus, but has a different cycle for host infection which requires RNA transcripates to turn it into DNA.

  • yeah i revised up on it, did it all in second year forgot a lot of it.. are you sure that retroviruses do not have a lytic cycle i was under the impression that HIV inserted itself and becomes a pro-virus then when the transcription factors for T cell proliferation were made they would bind to HIV LTR and begin replication of HIV genome followed by capsid formation and then release (bursting) of the CD4 T cell.

  • I think HIV is a different virus all together and cant really be put in a category because of the difference from any cycle. It has a similar begining when making new cells and lysing the Host's T cells and infecting others. It like a Lytic Lysogenic hybrid in a way but uses CCR5

  • HIV is like one of those viruses that go through the lysogenic cycle.

  • yeah - two different types of virus.

Retroviruses have RNA, and bacteriophages have DNA as their genetic material.

  • What happens to the empty code that stays outside the cell???

  • good enough for me.

  • Oh really is it that good that its NOT DNA !!!!! ITS VIRAL RNA THAT IS PROJECTED INTO THE HOST CELL BEING T4 LYPHOCYTE!!!!

    stop sending out incorrect information!!

  • bacteriophages typically insert DNA.

  • @AL11RAN lmao..ur incorrect hun!! do your research or study your book first next time.

  • Thank you!!!!!!!

  • This is great reference for my microbial genetics class. thank you so much for this video I now fully understand how a virus infects a bacterial cell.

  • explaining the lytic cycle in 1:14 mins?? Come on

  • wow this video was better in mrs. oconnel class btw your baddddd
